Switch Online's "Missions & Rewards" Adds More Super Mario Odyssey Icons

I still like my Mii avatar with Aqua color background. Plain and simple.

@Anti-Matter Yeah, I prefer the Mii avatar too. Wish they’d make it so we could use our Mii avatars in combination with some of these borders and frames.

Good stuff, collecting these and making different icons has been fun.

I hope we get Kirby ones in 2 weeks with the game release

Weird we're getting all these Mario Odyssey ones before Breath of the Wild. That game sold more, plus it's getting a sequel on the way.

Excited to see what other ones we get in the future. Imagine if we got one for every Smash character--including third parties. Or third parties from other games like Crash, Spyro, Rayman, Hat Kid, Shovel Knight...would be pretty sick.

@Snatcher Yeah, new poses and maybe some extra options for assessories etc for the Miis would be VERY welcome. There’s a simple charm to them, I hope Nintendo don’t do away with them!

@Kintypoo121 I hope they do. Miis were fun on the Wii, but with HD consoles they are extremely outdated. I hope Nintendo will make new avatars for their 4K console (which I think will come in 2023 / 2024)

Like this, gives me a reason to sign into the My Nintendo account, and had a go at the original Mario Bros game, had a blast with it, not played it in ages..

Not to sound ungrateful, but I really can't help thinking that all of the time and effort spent on this, which is seemingly increasing all the time based on yet more icons being added, could and probably should be spent elsewhere.

I still find it hard to believe they have invested so little in the eShop and improving game recommendations and the process of finding games for us. I'd find that a much more valuable update personally.

@Kintypoo121 Nintendo might do annoying things, But they are not stupid enough to get rid of Miis.... I hope.

@Not_Soos Odyssey was likely picked because Mario Day is in March. I'd guess April's game will be Kirby related because of the 30th anniversary.

@Not_Soos It will simply be because Mario is their signature franchise and because of March 10th being Mario Day.

Zelda ones will come in time. Maybe even next month?

@Kintypoo121 That is sentimental value. But Miis are just Heads on a very simple shape of a body. And even when they try to make the Mii bodies look more human in some games it always looks bad.

And between the era of the Wii and now, character creation really has improved A LOT on other games and systems. And ofcourse it can still be somewhat simple. But it needs to be at least 100x better than what we have now.

The amount of Platinum Points I'm spending is actually starting to make me play mobile games a lot more just to earn them back, especially looking at Fire Emblem Heroes.

Much like everyone else, I'm hoping they eventually add more franchises very soon. I certainly don't want to wait half a year to get Splatoon or Zelda.

You could potentially consider the advanced character creator Nintendo used to make various BotW NPCs. There's just so much more life given to the Miis with that, especially refining facial features and expressions.

More of these icons is cool, but I wish it was integrated properly through a system update. Feels weird that you can't access it with the rest of the profile pictures.

Don't you think that's a little too ahead of time, for Nintendo standards? Realism doesn't seem to be something Nintendo wants to go for.

Don't get the standalone TRex. It just looks like a crappy insect you want to step on. It will NOT look better with a background. I immediately wanted to delete it after I got it but, you cannot delete characters after you've collected them.

The FOSSIL FALLS TRex is good tough.<3
