UK Charts: Horizon Takes Over Top Spot From Pokémon Legends: Arceus

Picking up Pokemon at the end of the month, hoping it's as good as people say

Nice. Heard Forbidden West was great. Can’t wait to play it when i get a PS5.

Looks like Pokemon Legends Arceus will remain the biggest UK retail launch of the year until FIFA 23.

Still, a strong launch for Horizon.

I guess people really like open world games...but they like ugly ones slightly less.

I still prefer Dance Evolution on XBOX 360 over than Just Dance games.
Also, I still prefer Portal Knights and Dragon Quest Builders 2 over than Minecraft.

Expected, particularly in the West.

@MrHonest make sure you get the PS4 version, it's cheaper and free upgrade to PS5.

Horizon looks amazing, but will never bow to pressure to get a PS5 or PS4.

@Kiz3000 FIFA and Madden are literally copy/paste with lazy "new" graphics and cutscenes thrown haphazardly over the old ones, that's a bit worse than the usual annual release titles I reckon.

@SpaceboyScreams They "literally" aren't. I can't attest to Madden but FIFA had plenty of new gameplay modes and features added to 2022.

Whilst I don't buy FIFA (my last one is FIFA 19 on the Switch that I still play) it gets a lot of hate from people that have no interest in the game and as such cannot see what is different from each time. They do play differently and any player of the game would tell you that. There just isn't much they can actually change what with the sport itself remaining pretty consistent.

No one's mentioned how Mario Party Superstars has been sitting pretty in the top 10 for a few weeks now. It's great to see that this game, which by all accounts is a return to form for the series, is doing well.

It's just released so why would one not expect it to be top of list. It's how long does it stay there that will say how many really like it but remember Horizon isn't portable nor is it for everyone. That's the biggest difference and how many of the die hard has bought them and until the real buyers show up that's when the real listing we tell us it's value.

I like to call them "overexaggerated sports merchandise" because most of the people who buy them do it for the sports memorabilia, especially looking at the Switch version.

To be fair though...the actual versions of this game are slowly building and improving on a previous formula. It's just a more expensive and old fashioned version of updates.

I mean, it's a core Sony IP that had the red carpet rolled out for it, so there'd be a massive issue if it DIDN'T get first place in its release week in the UK.

It's a shame we don't get the split of PS4 to PS5 games sold with Horizon.

Horizon looks great, and I am so glad for Pokemon Legends Arceus. Both games will have long legs, but I have a feeling Eldin Ring will go no1 next week.

@UglyCasanova Nobody is getting duped, except those paying for Ultimate Team of course, it's the best football game there is, so of course people are going to buy it, regardless of how marginal the differences are from last year's. The same goes for Football Manager every year.
