Blimey, 2021 was pretty great for Switch games, wasn't it? Nintendo's hybrid system may be halfway through its lifecycle, but it's still getting some solid-gold software – and last year was jam-packed with essential releases.
If you don't believe us then check out our video above, which runs down the best Switch games released in 2021. And, because it runs from March 2021 to March 2022, it's ever so slightly different from our previously-published written list.
Here's the complete list, in case you were wondering:

2021 was a really solid year for me. That's mostly thanks to Metroid Dread, though. Really looking forward to this year's lineup.
I have 6 of these and 11 more on my wishlist. A lot of really good games.
Ironically, I bought a lot of Wii, Wii U, Gamecube, PS3 & PS4 games during year 2021 while I only bought 4 Switch games and sold 3 Switch games.
But Legends Arceus was released in 2022.
Cheats. Cheats I say.
Got 4, 3 more on the wishlist :I
Still a great year, since I got my Switch roughly a year ago.
What?! No (insert game here)?
Monster hunter rise and Metroid dread were absolutely phenomenal, 3d world + bowsers fury as well if we are counting all of 2021
for me Metroid Dread and Shin Megami Tensei 5 were top teir nothing came close to how good those games were
IMO, the single best game released in that time is missing from your list.
Astalon: Tears of the Earth
Even with as great as Metroid Dread was, Astalon was a better Metroidvania. The freedom of exploration and hidden secrets were just amazing.
2021 was a fantastic year for me in terms of trying out new franchises. I played Ace Attorney, Sonic, Streets of Rage, Banjo Kazooie and DOOM all for the first time ever last year whilst also having amazing games in familiar franchises introduced to me such as Star Fox 64, BDSP and, my current game of the year, Legends Arceus.
2022 is shaping up to be just as good with games like Mario Strikers, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet and Splatoon 3 coming later down the line. I myself am currently occupied with Great Ace Attorney and Mario Kart 8 so, to sum it up.... yeah I liked 2021.
I have 8 games of this list.. so many good games.. im far in arceus. next ill play quake.
I stil have to buy:
eastward;
disco elysium (waiting the physical version);
death's door;
tetris connected;
Really hoping for Fez to get a physical version, it looks just like my type of thing
I only got Ni No Kuni II and Zelda. Last year was all about going through Xenoblade 2 and Torna.
Advance Wars 1+2 Reboot Camp was gr... oh wait. 😞
I’ll have to check my gamer credentials, as I don’t have a single one of those games…
Where is sonic colors? I know it had a rocky start but from what I have seen they have fixed the game.
Anyway my top 3 are monster Hunter, skyward sword and lego marvel. Coincidently those are the only new switche releases I bought last year.
I bought Quake from the eShop but also pre-ordered the physical version from LRG which I'm waiting for. I also bought a physical version of The House in Fata Morgana for $95 off eBay. Don't have any interest in the other listed games aside from Shin Megami Tensei V.
