Honestly it was pretty lackluster. The only news from the direct I truly felt happy about was Project Octopath Traveler. Man the artwork was so nostalgic! Excitement abound for that game.
Skyrim can be played on a laptop and also with mod support. It's much more portable as a Switch game but I mean...laptop+steam sale skyrim+mod support=better time imo.
I am fine with the rotation but...I just hate Moray Towers. And when it is one of the two, it's picked like 85% of the time and it kills my soul little by little.
I bet Nintendo is working on using the Nintendo app on your phone/tablet to let you design the levels if you're playing in docked mode. I mean with spla2oon it's pretty bare bones so probably not...but that would solve my only issue with a Switch release.
I remember my computer back when I was in middle school had a 20gb hard drive. I thought that was so impressive...now I can fit 20x that amount on my fingertip. I wonder if I will think the same about now in 15 years?
When I was able to actually fight mayo it was about 50/50 win/lose, maybe a little more wins for me. When I fought ketchup (which was 95% of the time...) my team won very consistently. Based on that I knew mayo would win.
I understand financial burdens, but I strongly believe that every Switch owner should have a PS4 or Xbox One as a buddy console. I don't expect my Switch to play graphically powerful games. I expect my Switch to play 1st party Nintendo masterpieces. My PS4/vita will handle the games like kingdom hearts. If I know there is a more beautiful, better fps version out there, I wouldn't dream of having it on the Switch, but I understand that's my own opinion and I don't really use it as a handheld, so...
I hope they bring it over to the Switch regardless. It WILL do well.
This will be one of the very few games I will buy digitally. My wife always wants me to play splatoon and I always am too lazy to switch the games out. Hehe.
I used to watch cheese05 speed run Mario 64, but he gets so angry when he messes up and he resets so often it wasn't enjoyable to watch. I love watching alttp randomizer runs, where all the treasures are randomized and each play through is different. Very enjoyable for someone like me who doesn't have much time to play games anymore.
I am very happy for you metroid fans. I've tried so hard to get into them but it just doesn't appeal to me for some reason, and I hate myself for it. I wasn't ecstatic for myself when it was revealed, I was ecstatic for Nintendo and for the Switch. This reveal and the Pokémon Switch reveal are going to solidify a very strong gen for Nintendo.
Pleeeeeeaase don't waste a Pokémon Switch game on Pokémon Rumble! Literally anything else. I would rather take a poke wallpaper background for my Switch than THAT spin off...
@patbacknitro But all the other poke games had gyms, HM's, and a dedicated handheld. Things be different now. The times they are a changin'! Pokémon Eclipse, Switch edition I'm ready!
@Equinox I definitely agree. I bought it reluctantly on pc and I was so bored. I think either you have to be the age where Legos are super fun, or you have to be an architectural/archaeological hobbyist...
I'm sadly neither (lol) so this type of game is a drool fest. My nephew, who is 11, LOVES this game and has minecraft posters all over his room. I really did try to get him into Zelda etc but he just wants minecraft. At least I know there are others out there who don't see the appeal.
I wanted that nes mini and decided to wait for all the hyped up people/scalpers to run their course before even attempting to look. And then Nintendo goes and discontinues it. So now I have to be this vile, rampaging Black Friday-esque toddler brained maniac to secure a snes mini? Screw that. I will attempt an amazon preorder but beyond that, no freakin thanks Nintendo.
I'm ECSTATIC for Yooka Laylee! 6/10 makes me want it even more!!! "What, why??" you ask? Because I can't tell you how many times I've read a review for a game that was given a low score, but deserved a 9+/10. At the same time, I've endured games that were given high scores but I couldn't even get through an hour before losing attention. Maybe I'm not the gamer these latter games cater to, but I KNOW FOR A FACT I love 3D platformers. Even thinking about Mario 64 or or donkey kong 64 puts me into a nostalgic coma. Hell, I was CRAZY for Glover.
I will love this game dearly. And if you are even remotely a fan of 90s 3D platformers, you'll join me.
Snake Pass is great! It is such a relaxing game...I actually can't believe I enjoy being a snake, but it might be more that this game gives me nostalgia feels for the n64 era, and more closely the donkey kong country games. And it has gotten me really pumped for Yooka Laylee! Of course, I will have to get it for PS4 or pc... I don't think I can wait for Switch release
@Nico07 Yeah I knew the origin of the gate tag, I just think it's the easy way out and is just way too overused. When I see it attached to literally every issue, my soul dies a little bit more.
I should probably check my Switch when I get home from work today and make sure it's not slightly bent. I've really only used it once out of docked mode because I've yet to purchase a screen protector.
Why must everything have to have "gate" attached to a word to make it sound like deceit or a huge widespread issue?
My car didn't work, it hates me. Jeepgate. My boss yelled at me over not cleaning up the break room after lunch. Foodgate.
Seriously, we need to think of more clever words to describe things. Take this bendy Switch issue as an example. Switch U confirmed. Beware the Switch U folks.
Uhhh OoT Zelda goes incognito, learns ninja skills, picks up how to play a harp and teaches teleportation diddlydoos, uses a magnesis rune to open metal gates BEFORE runes were a thing in true hipster fashion, and shoots a solar beam at Ganon so you can thrust your stabby through some pig skull. Oh, and she dreamed about you before she met you, had more sense than the king in not trusting strangers, and really didn't show any romantic cliche feelings for you. Top notch Zelda in my book.
I enjoy a bit of linearity in my games. Do not think I mean like skyward sword...that game was TOO linear.. just like FFXIII is in like the first 13 chapters. NO NO NO.
I'm talking like OoT. You have this order to do things. You have these intimidating dungeons to complete. But hey, want to stop for a second and get Epona first? Want to explore the map before heading to the temple of time? It makes me happy to have a path put before me, but have the feeling of freedom dangling every step of the way.
I am loving BOTW, but I wonder how many more times I will replay it. With OoT I've beaten it dozens of times. With BOTW, I get the saddening feeling that I won't want to revisit it anytime soon. I sure hope I'm wrong.
Also, I'm bummed about no hookshot. Paraglider + hookshot = BATMAN
I LOVE my Switch. These complaints were inevitable. People always feel good complaining about something.
I feel like digging into older reviews of the SNES and see what the complaints were about it. I remember my power cord MELTING in the back and ruining my console. I loved my SNES as a kid but I know it wasn't perfect, yet people get very nostalgic and try to compare their fond memories to the present. It will never be comparable.
I did not enjoy wind waker that much at all. I guess if I were watching One Piece or something while I played, it would probably enhance the feel of sailing around. I don't hold a prejudice to whoever loves that game, I just feel the only amazing thing about it was the references to OoT.
Speaking of which...
1. OoT AND ALttP. No way can I choose between these two masterpieces. 2. Link's Awakening DX. Handheld perfection. 3. Zelda II: The Adventure of Link. Not because of how great I was at it, because I am terrible at that game. Mainly because they took a risk with the rpg element and THE MUSIC IS AMAZING. I love watching people speed run this game.
I would love to see a new Mario maker announced. More backgrounds, more enemies, more power ups, more vertical level creation, being able to direct the scrolling of auto scroll levels, over world map/continual level progression with retaining power ups from previous level, and of course slopes. I would literally melt with this announcement.
Am I the only one who loves the grey joycons? Even if both came packaged as one uniform color, I still would've chosen the grey ones. Now, white and black would've swayed my choice...

Re: Poll: What Wii U Ports Would You Like to Play on Nintendo Switch?
Super Mario Maker would be splendid to have on Switch if they were able to implement single screen level creation. Also with more goodies packaged in.
Super smash bros is obvious.
Paper Mario Color Splash because I didn't pick it up for the Wii U and would like to play it on my new shiny toy.
