@RetroBox well, the pink one I got years after release and cost me a pretty penny, but boy does it look good. I really wanted the Happy Mario version of the red/gold, but wasn’t will to pay the extra for it. But I was able to get the Player 2 face plate which came packaged on a GBM shell with a motherboard in it with buttons, but no screen. I found that super odd. And I totaly missed my chance on getting the Mother 3 gbm, which is wildly over priced now. I think I faired well.
Yeah it is! I’ve got 3: Original US black (with a black front cover) (and the addition covers) US Mario 20th anniversary (not the Happy Mario ver) And the very sexy EU Hot Pink (very sexy)
My eyes aren’t as up to the task for long play sessions on those screens as they used to be, but I love those little guys.
I haven’t played any multiplayer yet, so none of these have been issues on my end. But there are some other things they could do. Map favorite actions to unused buttons. I’ve never used the defend action, because by the time I can select it, I’ve either moved out the way or been hit. Let me see my moogle stamp card for more than half a second. I hear Rebena Te Ra can be annoying in solo. Maybe make that easier.
When I see the header image, all I can think of is Chocolate Rain.
Although, I don’t know who the artist in the first video is, reminds me of someone. Maybe like Reatmo, who I saw do an awesome live looping beatbox of the original super mario song.
The plug-in lamp in this case is an update to the special edition incense burner from the old collector version of the game, which mimics an in game model (if memory serves me). This is why it is listed as the 2020 model.
@TG16_IS_BAE true, Nintendo does keep they’re first party titles evergreen and rarely drop the price. However, the third party publishers also participate in the high price game (they just tend to drop their prices faster. But why is this? Back when I was in the industry, at least one of the first party platforms had a pricing guide that basically had us release at the $60 price (this was when $60 became the normal price). If it went it a box, it was $60. The sales team had to match across platforms to keep parity. There’s other factors in the operation pipeline that keep the price up there, manufacturing, shipping, taxes, storage, retail markup, plus internal overhead cost of the company.
Don't know how it has changed (been out for 5 years), but hasn’t some of there released less than full price? Dark Souls was $40, right? 2K collections were up to 3 games for $60. Other ported titles on Nintendo have also had a lower price as well. But I know it’s also silly looking when a newly polished (or not) remaster or port of a 10 year old game comes along at a new game cost. And it turns people away. Same happens with movies as well.
@Wavey84 well, while I do have multiple tv’s to choose from (even 2 in the bedroom), I live with elderly and children, and my wife. So, while my daughter does game, no one else does, nor wants to see it or hear it. And it wouldn’t be too great of me to lock myself in the bedroom to play games when I have family to do (you know, cook, clean, put to bed, teach, build, etc.). Maybe my situation is unique, But at least I can be present, while I game, and pause it (pretty much every 5 minutes for any reason), sleep it, take it to another room, and when I can, toss it in the dock and play it on tv. I’m glad the ports exist, and I’m personally not one to be missing out on higher res, faster frames, and whatnot. Just me. I know it’s not for everybody, but it works for me.
@TG16_IS_BAE yes. In my household, it is inconvenient. I don’t get tv time that isn’t shared by multiple people at the same time who would rather watch something else. Nor is the space appropriate for all audiences. So, I play nearly 100% portably for any game I play. That’s just my situation and I’m glad that these ports exist.
@Ooyah It’s a prequel (Ys Zero) so I believe it happens a long time before Adol’s story begins. But I’ve only played the beginning level a few years ago. Now will be a great time to dive in!
@playstation_king I fully agree with this statement. Sony hasn’t been a Japanese company for a while and the charts are telling. No doubt that they will still sell a significant number of systems (9 million isn’t a small number), but without a portable and a significant backing from Japanese devs, they risk further brand waterfall.
Love Jupiter and Picross games. Jupiter’s logic and control have been the best, hands down. Murder by Numbers has been great. The Lord of the Nazarick game was good, but I have no idea what the story is about. Piczle Cross Adventure has been pretty good. I like the way things unlock. There are some other but bad control and logic get in the way. Shouldn’t have to guess the solve a puzzle.
I’m hoping for another 3D Picross, as well and something like the Zelda game, but with some adventuring.
This tactic is dumb. When there is a huge discrepancy between the professional score and the user score, they should be automatically looking into it. And everybody who uses metacritic (I don’t, because I don’t care about the scores) to make up their minds on a game could probably notice that big difference and figure out why.
@carlos82 thanks! I’m certainly looking forward to playing this (at least demoing it, but who am I kidding, I’ll be getting it). It sounds like it could be a good change the the typical Musou game.
(Notices comments) But anyways, has anybody tried the demo yet? I’ll download when I get home, then play whenever I get a free minute. Curious to see how “Musou” it is. Looks to have the same combat, but with more exploration (based on map shapes from trailer) feel than 45-min mission failure.
@Anti-Matter it’s been a while since I did a rating, but it used to be that digital only games could get a rating for free (to help out the little guys, because ESRB rating could get expensive). If it was Physical and digital at same time, you’d pay for the rating. But now that the game is digital and are adding a physical version, they have to get the game re-rated. Plus it’s a different publisher now (at least for the physical version), so that might be a factor as well.
@Asaki a few months ago I went back to it to try the circle pad pro and c-stick, but no, the game never had that feature and wasn’t patched for it either. Really bugs me. But if what other fans are saying is true, the later levels really require the analog and stylus control.
@MrGawain you are absolutely correct. All companies have been looking to cut those costs.
And this generation of gamers isn’t the future.
And our physical games will eventually be unusable. Either rot or deterioration, leaky capacitors, dead batteries, dead lasers, etc.
Don’t get me wrong, I have hundreds of game carts/cards and hundreds of game/movie/music discs. I avidly collect audio cassettes, LPs, and my favorite: minidiscs. But I also have hundreds of legitimate digital purchases, stream music and movies to my phone and tvs. My brand new car doesn’t have a cd player (only streaming, sirius xm, downloaded to phone and Blutooth/USB connection).
1: 6, they represent the clock hands

3: 3:33, 28+32=1h, 3:05 and 4:05 are 1h apart

Maybe this sparked it, but Nintendo has actually been very proactive when it comes to this epilepsy issue, sometimes annoyingly so. They test for this in all games licensed by them. The software license to test for it comes from a different company, is expensive, but is super detailed in what kinds of patterns cause these case. Unfortunately, most don’t know about it, or try to avoid it.
Actually, it is pronounced Seiken Densetsu... (pushes up glasses)
Seriously though, this is the problem with English, there isn't a basis for us to know how we are supposed to say a written word without already knowing how it is supposed to be said.
I'm going to guess they didn't mean "mona" as in "Mona Lisa" and instead meant "mon" as in "monster" to get "mon-ah" or "mah-nah". And the other way would be "man-ah".

I'm sorry Liam, but this articontrale reads very contrafusing to me. I know Contra is Contra and also Contra (arcontrade) is also Contra. I'm a bloke from Americontra, so I've seen our list of only 7 Contra games, which is not contrafusing. It was my understanding that the EU version is all Probotector so the list looks a little odd contrasidering there's the Genesis and MegaDrive versions listed, which is really throwing my contracentration off. Would you make a list to show what Conta games each contray will be getting?
@Tsuchinoko yeah... unfortunately. If it was like SNK collection, that would be fine, but the arcade versions are just not as tight and remembered as the NES versions. The arcade versions are bloated with repeating stages.
@Tsuchinoko Super C is Super Contra for NES (or Probotector 2). The Super Contra listed as "Super Contra" is the arcade version of the second game in the series.
@Hordak only it isn't... that's the arcade version. Liam, any info on why NES Contra has never been VC'd or rereleased outside the early PC collection and Contra 4?
@Zeropulse and @Gibb It was bugging me too. I'm American, so we have the oval seal. It had to be before Pegi, since that corner could be where Pegi rating would be. I initially thought NES, definitely not SNES. Then it occured to me it could be Gameboy. Same style fold on the bottom. I was going A to Z and thank god it was a C title, because I didn't want to go all they way through. It was Castlevania II: Belmont's Revenge for Gameboy. Curse you @Damo
