Re: Nintendo Obtains High Court Injunction Against Internet Service Providers To Block Switch Pirates

@HeeHo Imagine other sources reiterating the fact that piracy is copying...

From https://www.geeksforgeeks.org/understanding-software-piracy:

"Software Piracy is the illegal approach of copying, distributing, modifying, selling, or using the software which is legally protected."

"This software piracy refers to the unauthorized copy and use of legal software."

"In online piracy, the illegal software is acquired from online auction sites and blogs which is mainly achieved through the P2P(Peer to Peer) file-sharing system. As it is acquired by means of the Internet, often it is called Internet Piracy."

From https://alirezahayati.com/2021/11/12/copying-is-not-theft:
Untitled
"Imagine your car gets stolen but it’s still there!"

Let me know if you need any more sources saying that piracy is copying, and not theft...

@HeeHo No, that is completely factual.

From https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Online_piracy#Ethics:

"The prevalence of piracy in face of these potential penalties is due to the fact that individuals do not see piracy as inappropriate let alone illegal, instead viewing it as ethically acceptable due to the core execution of piracy being that it creates a copy of the file, thus nothing tangible is being taken away from the original owner."

Apparently, we are not allowed to name names, but just scroll through the comments, and you will find someone comparing piracy to stealing a Ferrari.

Luckily, a VPN can still be used to bypass these restrictions, so this ruling will do little to stop piracy. Thank you for advertising those sites! I have added them to the "Hacks and Cracks" folder in my Chrome bookmarks on my Google account.

I am also proud of the many commenters fighting back against the "piracy is theft" crowd. I guess we cannot name names, but those trolls must understand that they will not be let off so easy by us!

@BloodNinja i reread your comment, and there is absolutely no indication that you were making a joke. Even if you were joking (which I seriously doubt), is was in extremely poor taste...

"it’s fair to say that to automatically think people on this site, of all places, is fairly upbeat and positive."

Have you ever read the comment sections on the NintendoLife articles about ROM hacks? Or CFW related lawsuits? Or DMCA takedowns?

Or how about some of the comments on the recent diversity and political correctness articles? Not everyone on NintendoLife is "upbeat and positive" from my experience...
