We're still weeks away from the Famicom Detective Club remakes arriving on the Nintendo Switch here in the west, but it seems they've already been leaked online. This information comes from software developer, gaming enthusiast and Twitter user LuigiBlood.
While you might be wondering why anyone would even be concerned about games from 33 years ago leaking online, the Switch release marks the first time Famicom Detective Club: The Missing Heir and Famicom Detective Club: The Girl Who Stands Behind have ever been officially localised - so, technically, there could be potential spoilers floating around the internet.
LuigiBlood shares a little bit more information, explaining how the first game hasn't been translated previously and the second game only received a "fan translation" based on the Super Famicom remake:
"Yes these are remakes, the story is old, but keep in mind that the first game was never translated, ever, and the second got a fan translation with the SNES remake. The story isn't really well known (especially the first game) so my point still stands: watch out for spoilers."
According to a thread on ResetEra, the leak may be tied to preloads for the game going live ahead of schedule.
Sadly, this isn't the first time we've seen an upcoming Switch release leaked online weeks ahead of schedule. The same thing happened to Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury earlier this year, and Paper Mario: The Origami King last year.
The Famicom Detective Club games will be released on the Nintendo Switch next month on 14th May. Until then, avoid spoilers at all costs.

Time to avoid the internet! Or for Nintendo to get better security 😅
Damn ANOTHER game
This happened to Resident Evil Village as well. Apparently some copies are coming out early for Australia
@nessisonett indeed it is time to avoid the internet. I will stop looking up on these games until release
welp, time to fine ways to avoid being spoiled from this game.
Leakers are the equivalent of a child who snoops out the family Christmas presents early, then happily tells all their siblings what they're getting too.
Not paying AU$90 for a digital only release. No sir. Which is a shame as I would have jumped at a physical release (sadly, the Japanese release does not include English).
Besides the point, but are these games getting a bundle physical set? It would be all the better if it were both games on one cartridge too.
Is that from a upcoming direct?
Hope Pokémon snap leaks soon!
Some people just don’t have self restraint...
Don't know why, but I'd rather play the originals translated then this remake. It'd be cool if they got the fire emblem treatment (perfuribly with it not being taken down!)
People who worry about spoilers are so ***** annoying. Get off the damn internet if you're that sensitive.
@Chamver
It's their social life, if you haven't noticed. Especially at times like this, some people are still stuck at home and have no choice but to go online.
Remember in the good old days when games were saved onto physical mediums such as development cartridges and discs? If only that were the case here... Damn hackers.
Lame, I wish people wouldn't ruin others' fun... although this is a remake, technically wasn't this spoiled 30 years ago?
Time to boot up Tinfoil...
Hasn't Wikipedia had the plot of the games for a while as they usually do contain spoilers for all media on there if you read it? I see these things about spoilers online but it generally seems easy to avoid as long as you don't follow people on social media who get a kick out of ruining things for people.
The music of the second part of the trailer really make me think of speach examination music in Phoenix Wright games.
I don't think it'd be related to preloads, since on Switch, pre-loads don't happen until a week before a game comes out, when you are charged. (They implemented that change a year or so ago?)
@Chamver A lot of people are way too sensitive about spoilers, agreed. Some people act like their life is over if a plot point is accidentally spoiled for them. Life goes on, and product can still be enjoyed.
On the flip-side, however, leakers are a plague. Make no mistake, leakers are not an altruistic force looking out for their fellow gamer. With only a few exceptions, they do what they do simply because they crave the attention and empowerment they get out of it.
simply point, the world doesn't end if spoilers are revealed, but those intentionally doing it are spoiled brats purposely trying to ruin others enjoyment for their own ego.
@Chamver Yeah chum, If we like to experience stuff fresh then back off.
