It's heart warming to see how committed they are to bringing the game to Wii, by whatever means it takes. Other developers would have just given up I think.
I'll believe it when I see it. They always say things along these lines whenever a new console is about to come out, and then it never turns out to be true. Remember the claim that the DS was going to be the "third pillar" along side the GBA and GC - then in reality it went on to completely replace the GBA? yeah...
very cool - might tempt me to buy the game as long as it gets good reviews. Sega sure do love their peripherals seeing as All Stars Racing had the blue Wii Wheel
I was tempted to download this game at the time of release, but overall I had too many other games to be getting on with than one about giving vegetables haircuts - sorry to say
I know it's not a downloadable game, but I just realised A Shadow's Tale is out today in Europe. They kept that quiet! It doesn't even have a box art image on Amazon. I'll have to hold off buying it for now. Too many new games recently, including Sonic 4
I downloaded Sonic just after midnight last night Couldn't play it for long since I had to get up in the morning but looking forward to playing it again this evening. It's completely overshadowed the other games this week!
@SmaMan Nintendo always make the minimum effort so I wouldn't be so hopeful. Remember Princess Peach wasn't playable in NSMBWii because they couldn't be bothered animating her skirt? yeah...
This is effectively Super Mario All-Stars re-released, right? I already own all these games in that case, although the fact that it's a snazzy collectors pack with CD and booklet makes it appealing anyway. This and Donkey Kong Country Returns means that my Christmas list is sorted already!
Guys, you know 6/10 is still a decent score, right? I mean, if you liked the look of it before, it might still be worth checking out. Check out the scoring policy: "6/10...Whilst you should approach with a degree of caution you might still really enjoy this game."
@Dragoon As soon as a 2D game is made, everyone says that! Then when Sonic 4 appears everyone says "I wish it was a retail game". Developers can't win! Anyway, I like the look of this and I liked A Boy and His Blob which was also by WayForward. I might wait til it becomes around a tenner though since it's so short.
my friend had this as a kid. I thought it was awesome at the time because it was the only Beat em Up I'd ever played up to that point in time. Now it doesn't look so good I love how the map screen shows levels like Los Angeles as being located in Alaska!
the palm blisters thing shouldn't dissuade them from releasing the first game. It's my business how I choose to play the game. If I want to smash the controller off my face, causing injury, that's my choice!
I've kinda been put off slightly by the price and the fact that it's episodic. I'll wait for the review. I was really looking forward to it, but I'd rather pay £30-40 and have it all one the one disc, than pay £10 for each download. In the meantime, I still haven't managed to ever beat Sonic 1
I'm really quite interested in this game. Seems strange that there seems to be so little info about it and yet it's out at the end of next week. Anyway, I hope it turns out to be a quality title and I'll definitely pick it up if this is the case.
as long as this game turns out to be as good as I hope it will, I won't mind paying. 1,500 Points still only equates to around a tenner, so if the game is quality then that's not much to pay at all.
I have to agree with most of the replies here - just because something's a 2D platformer, why does that automatically mean it has to be a Wii Ware release? Some of my favourite games this generation have been 2D platformers (Wario Land, A Boy and His Blob, New Super Mario Bros, and Donkey Kong Country still to come)
Rare weren't technically a third party though, more like an affiliate of Nintendo so it might not have been them after all. Plus, why would Rare think that they couldn't do it justice - they were amazing back then!
@Drake - I logged into my Club Nintendo account out of curiosity. Apparently, I've accumulated a total of 13,345 Stars over the years (since about 2002) In that time, aside from 500 points, I've spent it all on Wii Points. I did just discover however, that each Wii Ware and VC game nets you 50 Stars. Never knew that! I have so many unclaimed Stars waiting for me right now - Get in!!
It's undoubtedly a very cool idea and novel concept for a game. However, the actual substance of Let's Tap is non-existant. The only game worth bothering with is Tap Runner, and even that gets boring after a couple of goes. I get the feeling that if it had been developed by a no-name shovelware developer rather than Yuji Naka/ Sega it would be getting much less favourable reviews. I guess you could say I'm not a fan!
That Captain Falcon theme is probably the simultaneous most cheesy yet downright awesome piece of music ever created. I remember I first got F Zero GX and just used to sit on the character profiles page just listening to all the themes and marvelling at how much effort had gone into creating them.
Nintendo consoles haven't ever even featured a DVD drive, so I find it hard to believe that they'd be wanting to incorporate Blu-Ray into their next machine
Probably deserves a 9, when you take compare it with other games that have received 9s and 10s, but 8 is still a good score so I shouldn't nitpick. Superior to the sequel in my opinion, but they're both essential Wii games.
Is that a Super Sidekicks game? If the 3rd one was to come out on VC I'd be able to sell my copy of SNK Arcade Classics as I kind of only still hang onto it for Sidekicks - classic arcade game!

Re: Limited Edition Orange and Green DSis Spice Up Black Friday
no word of an EU release? I love that new yellow DS, but I've always wanted to get an orange one for my Dad - it's his favourite colour
Re: Super Mario Bros. 25th Anniversary (NA)
"Sorry, your too late..."
Please someone change that to "you're"!

Re: Features: Bizarre Emails Sent to Nintendo Life - Volume 2
I can't believe so many people can't tell the difference between an independent news and review site, and Nintendo itself!

Re: Drool at this Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright Trailer
I love Ace Attorney, but don't really like Layton, so hopefully this'll play more like the former. The trailer makes me think, how good would a Phoenix Wright animé be?!

nice informative review James. It's psyched me up to play this game. Roll on Friday!

Re: PES 2011
I wonder if this will have the Stadium Editor mode
Re: Charity Marathon Sees Every NES Game Played Back to Back
games like Bible Adventures and Action 52 might not count since they're unlicensed and therefore not part of the official NES catalogue

I'll be buyan' this when it hits Europe. Hopefully it does better in the rest of the world.
Re: Review: Goosebumps HorrorLand (Wii)
This game seems like it's emerged from a black hole 10 years too late - who still pays any attention to Goosebumps books?!

yay Mario Party! I'll download that for sure - although where's the first one!? :S
Re: Review: Snowboard Kids (Nintendo 64)
@ Jump Mad - paper boy mini game to unlock stuff? Are you sure we're talking about the same game here?
@ Splat - It's not currently on VC, but it should be!

Re: Cammie Dunaway Leaving Nintendo Next Month

Sorry, I know I've commented already but I just felt someone had to say it...
Re: Cammie Dunaway Leaving Nintendo Next Month
Reggie is a bro, but Cammie clearly didn't have the faintest interest in games at all
Re: Serious Metroid: Other M Bug Requires Total Restart
@Dragoon - how is a glitch where you walk under the sea similar to one where you get trapped behind a door? O_o

I'm definitely keeping an eye on this one. Wonder why it's been pushed back for North America, but still on track for European release - weird.

It's not a dreadful game, but it's not a great one either. I wouldn't recommend paying more than £5 for it.

Re: NHL Slapshot Includes Wii's First Dinky Hockey Stick
@ Kirk - depends where you live. In the UK it won't since no one really cares about hockey
Re: Hiroshi Yamauchi Gives Millions to Cancer Treatment Hospital

Re: Five Minutes of Super Mario Galaxy 2 Better Than Five Minutes of Most Other Games
shouldn't the title read "Five Minutes of Super Mario Galaxy 2 Better Than Five HOURS of Most Other Games", for emphasis?
