We've just had news from Nintendo of Europe that the limited edition Super Mario Bros. Collection, previously Japan-only, will be coming to Europe in December.
Containing the History of Mario booklet and soundtrack CD spanning the plumber's audio history, the collection is most notable for containing Super Mario All-Stars.
The mouthful title of Super Mario All-Stars 25th Anniversary Edition is out on December 3rd. More details as they arrive.

Do want.
I hope North America is next. I have two SNES carts but this couldn't hurt.
Will be getting.
I LOVE YOU NINTENDO OF EUROPE.
Just have to hope they will be releasing full speed versions of the games and not PAL optimised ones.
The picture on the case for what looks like the soundtrack CD has the American SMB box... This is definitely planned for America too.
Is the main box made of cardboard? I think I'm going to have to break the norm and buy this game from an actual shop. No way i'm letting that idiot postman anywhere near that fragile box!
I take back everything I said in my comment on the "Japan gets red Wii" article now. Thank you very much NoE!
@7 Games purchased new from Amazon pop out looking absolutely pristine, although they do normally come as a DVD case. Amazon packaging is usually very good.
I'd be happy to pay money for this divine collection all over again. The included soundtrack is butter. However, I'm not sure I'd go so far as to pay $50 for it or anything...
Right, I'm popping past GameStation on my way home from Uni tonight and pre-ordering this beauty along with Prof. Layton. Huzzah!
@Gavin
I preordered Monster Hunter Tri with the CCPro from Amazon, and it arrived mint. Mind you, it came in a box that could have fit about 4 copies of the game in.
This is effectively Super Mario All-Stars re-released, right? I already own all these games in that case, although the fact that it's a snazzy collectors pack with CD and booklet makes it appealing anyway. This and Donkey Kong Country Returns means that my Christmas list is sorted already!
Come on December for US, CHRISTMAS GIFT!!!!!!!
Come on Nintendo of Australia release this for Australia.
Nintendo is making up the lack of Epic Yarn this year by giving Europeans all this cool stuff.
@14 A European release almost guarantees that we get one as well.
Santa crushes planning papers and starts over
I've got them on VC and GBA already so I'm not that interested yet.
Hey! Thats not fair why dont we get some goods in US?
YEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAHH !!! Nintendo, thank you very much !!!
I'm sorta confused as to why this collection doesn't at least include Super Mario world as well? They had a Snes Cartridge of All stars that included all 5 classic Mario games. They couldn't fit one more game on a Wii disc yet a cartridge could hold all 5? The soundtrack CD is really the only thing worth having. I already have several copies of the games.
NOA had BETTER release this in the States. Japan and Europe are always getting the good stuff while we end up eating dirt! All because of a bad economy!
@GamesX99 Your saying that? From Israel?
How much will it be?
Hmmmm, does this one include World as well? I think I'd be only interested in the CD tbh...
EDIT: Like Link79!
PS- @25 Trust me, its Europe that gets the rough end of the stick wrt download and software - more often than not.
C'mon NOA, release this in North America! I want that soundtrack!
Want to come to NA!
Don't leave us folks in North America high and dry now, Nintendo!
Nice. Can't wait.
Luckyyyyysss....
Will thats good news now it will come out hear right?
This great news. I really wish that NA/EU got the game at the same time, but I am just happy we will be getting it at all. I don't see why EU would get it and not us? I am most excited about the history book and CD.
I actually don't have any of these games ('cept Lost Levels for VC), so this is perfect. Been considering buying 2 and 3 for the GBA, but I guess this is a good way to relieve all those childhood memories. Remember playing Super Mario All-Stars at a friends house all day when I was younger.
The art book and soundtrack isn't that tempting actually, even though I've been a sucker for those kinds of things lately....
What about NA?
We exist, too!
I love how Japan and Europe are getting all the stuff and yet America is left out. So much for being the largest region out of the three
@25: You might want to rewrite that comment. Europe and Australia are usually the ones eating dirt (no offense)
@MasterGraveheart
You have Shantae, so it's all fair at the moment.
@Iz2010
None taken. It's funny because it's true.
Want. You give. All happy. The end.
We aren't getting KEY and Mario vs DK this year either, so I think we've earned this.
december 3rd is my birthday... YAY
They used cardboard, but I think they should have made the case out of ebony, gold, and rubies. Maybe that's why NoA hasn't revealed it yet!
I hope Nintendo releases this game in the U.S.
Surely they'll release this in NA... Heh, heh heh... D:
Hope we get this too, and for less than 30 bucks.
Hmm, I wonder if they'll remake these with the New Super Mario Bros. engine. That would be fun, and surely they wouldn't use a whole disc just to put a 16-megabit rom on it... unless...
This will be $29.99 in the states. I can't imagine the Big N letting it go for less. I will pick it up just for ALL-STARS which will never come out on VC because they want you to download all of the originals. I only have Mario 3 on VC so this will be a great way for my 5-year-old to get in at the ground level and play all the essential Marios with 16-bit graphics! Also, the DVD and CD look sweet!
I hope the US will get this also!
My Americans friends, I hope that this game will arrive in your country.
Please Nintendo, please... let it be this time, localize it to the Americas
Still want the Red Wii, but thank you NoE, you have earned 1 reputation point. @James What games does this include?
Americans, I hope you will get it too. If not, you have my sympathy.
lucky eurpoe bla i hate noa
Even though it's a rehash of a snes game, I might still get it for the CD and mario history booklet.
this cant be called "all stars" anymore, they need a new name like... super mario "half stars"
I don't know if I'm madder about this not coming out in America yet or that I already spent $20 on the VC versions.
I have a feeling the US will be getting this one but I'm worried about the localization chances of the 25th anniversary DSi, DSi XL, and Wii. Its getting a little excessive how many awesome things they're showering on Japan....
@WhiteTrashGuy You mean the game disk right? There isn't a DVD (movie) included, just the Soundtrack.
I already have Mario All-Stars for SNES, so this doesn't appeal to me as much I thought it would. I mean they just threw All-Stars on the disk and did nothing else. I know it comes with the soundtrack and history booklet, but that isn't enough to justify the cost. If it was a real book (20+ pages) or had a DVD with interviews to go along with the booklet, the price would be easier to swallow.
Yes Thank You Nintendo, they have (Nintendo) made my Christmas, Please announce this for Amercia, Canada and Australia. All we need now is for Nintendo to stick bar codes on the Wii-snes Classic controllers and sell them...
Oh and can we get the limited edition red Wii's also.
@NintendoWorld1 That is exactly what they should do.I would pay $30 for the SNES Classic Controller. Sadly I dont see NOA or NOE releasing it and if by a miracle they did, it would probably be over-priced. Not as much as online retailers hike up the price on the JPN controller. $80?!?!?
Please NOA. Please release this in america. Also. Not for more than $40 okay?
Thanks. Very, very thanks.
I hope the price is reasonable, because I want it, even though I still have the originel SNES cartridge.
@LuWiiGi It's got Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros: The Lost Levels, Super Mario Bros. 2 (Western version with turnips) and Super Mario Bros. 3.
It's also officially called Super Mario All-Stars: 25th Anniversary Collection.
Hm, another major section of Nintendo worldwide just received this, I see... nothing is a lock, but since Nintendo even bothered to push this beyond Japan's boundaries gives me the face for making it over here. What bothers me most is "when"... our actual celebration date is next year technically, but the holiday season hasn't hit here yet. It's all on you NOA.
Thanks, James. Definitely gonna buy this.
Now announce it for release over here for $39.99 so I can place my pre-order.
@GumbyX84 You're right, Thank-You for agreeing with me!
The amount of cash I've spent on those controllers I could have bought myself one of those limited edtion wii's....
For anyone in the UK I can't find Super Mario All stars listed on online stores......
I'm really happy with the news from Nintendo from Europe, I reckon the game will come to North America. All that hasn't been announced is the price of the game, if it's under £30.00 ($47:00) I'll be even happier. My fingers are crossed for a World wide release, as it is my favourite Mario game. I don't like the nes versions, I know it's a Classic game but it's my opinion. And Yes I did buy the nes versions for Wii-VC!
Also Nintendo a year or two ago i bought a guide book for Super Mario All stars (from a well known auction site from America) any chance you dust down those old printing plates and re-release them too!!!! Please......
I hope this comes to NA soon. Yeah I have Super Mario Bros 2 and 3 on the VC but I have always enjoyed the updated graphics of the SMA games. Oh pleeeeeease make it to NA. Fingers crossed
Great news!
@outrun2sp - hopefully it would be available to play in 60Hz mode as a disc release, I'd assume so, but then look at Animal Crossing on the PAL Gamecube...
Hopefully it won't be too long before the US gets it (if we get it at all)...
good move nintendo, great to see we get the same as japan at last
One day before my birthday?
NINTENDO'S THE BEST COMPANY EVER!!!!!
@outrun2sp
Thanks for reminding me. Scary to think I'd forgotten about that little problem with the PAL VC emulation
So the game is just a re release of Super Mario All Stars??
Why not release some more recent adventures with it and a few rare/obscure mario games in it too?
Mario RPG
Paper Mario
Wrecking Crew
Dr. Mario
Mario Vs. Wario
Marios Super Picross
etc.
And NA still lacks this...
>.<
Why Not Mc Donald's add Pizza to their menu.
I'm sure they'll bring it over here soon.
Hey! What about us, Nintendo?
The £64'000 question:
Would Nintendo really ruin this by lazily slapping the 50hz ROM onto the disk?
I want this game. I REALLY want this game, Nintendo of America! Don't screw us over, please?
For all you people in Europe, I just went on the game website and pre-ordered it with £10 off
I hope this makes it to NA! Although, I am glad to see at least Europe getting it because it will run at 60Hz on disc over there unlike the NES games on the VC.
I rather want the Allstars as a regular download. Wouldn´t mind if they charged more than 800 points for it. Don´t get the "locked" prices depending on original format philosophy...
^ Maybe they'll put All-Stars on as a regular download on the next console
Thank You @LuWiiGi & @Jamba001 for caring
I hope is relesed in NOA. please let that happen PLEASE x100
Oh yeah, now I get it. This just puts the final nail in the coffin of a SMAS VC release! Unless... NOA decides to just release it in DLC form in NA...
You suck NOA! Where's Super Mario All-Stars for Wii? I don't want to just settle with the hand-me down 8 bit versions of SMB games with no save slots.
must... have...
@Don: chill out, man... it's not like they announced it's not coming to NA or something. be patient.
@Don: Calm down. If it isn't coming to NA, it isn't, and the world won't end. At least not until 2012
I lOVE NINTENDO....now announce USA.
@Don- Don't blame NOA, they don't have much control of whether or not it is released here. I'm sure they want it to come to the US as much as we do.
Although, since Europe is getting it, an American release is looking that much more likely! NOA has been doing some 25th celebrating itself, so it looks like we may get SOMETHING. At least they're doing more than what could be said about the 20th anniversary!
This actually makes me jealous.
@jayo: at least we got the special Gameboy Micro. I don't think we're gonna get even one of the 3 special systems Japan is getting this time around.....not to mention, they also get a special Pokemon Black/White DSi.....That's a total of 5 special systems that they get before the year is out. How many of those are the rest of us getting? Probably none of them.....
I'm putting down five bucks right now that this will be announced on Monday.
Would Nintendo really ruin this by lazily slapping the 50hz ROM onto the disk?
Of course they would. I would be surprised if they didn't.
Shut up Bass, you're spoiling the moment.
@Bass
I would've actually expected Nintendo to upgrade them in some way. After all, they didn't just slap the NES roms onto the cartridge back when Super Mario All Stars was first coming out.
I still think they're gonna wow us with something extra. Back then they upgraded the games to run on Super Mario World's engine, so I think (emphasis on "think") that they would upgrade them to the New Super Mario Bros. Wii engine.
@SmaMan Nintendo always make the minimum effort so I wouldn't be so hopeful. Remember Princess Peach wasn't playable in NSMBWii because they couldn't be bothered animating her skirt? yeah...
@SmaMan Incognito D beat me to it. They made the effort for the SNES SMAS because it was a full console release IE $60 game (Think it was $60). This is just a re-release of that game. They aren't going to remake a remake. Would take too long and cost too much money. Remember, they would have to add more to the engine (SMB 2/USA's throwing mechanic and SMB3 Flying; Not to mention all the items they would have to add it) in order to use it.
Pertaining to Peach in NSMBWii: If Peach was playable, who would have to be saved?
I really think that the game will be round £20:00 ($31:00 using an online currency convertor)
Well I've pre-ordered this on an online games store and it was / is £20:00, under UK Laws it was advertised as £20:00 so they will have to sell it for that price........ Can't Wait.
I reckon guys in North America some thing will be announced before you guys celebrate Thanksgiving or even the hoilday season (Christmas), I'm not clutching at sraws but it's what I think. NoA won't leave you guys out.
Can't wait for this. But I wish you could load the games from the disk onto your Wii. It will feel strange having to get a CD disk out every time I wanna play a SNES game. Also they would look great alongside the other titles stored in my Wii memory and sd card.
A higher priced VC of both All-Stars/All-Stars+World would have sufficed, & more so than not, the game would have made many d/ls. As a disc-based game, there should be more to it.
@James: Now that I think on it, you're probably right. This may be the Mon announcement.
On a side-note: I wouldn't mind N releasing combo-VCs like Tetris+Dr.Mario, even if they charged extra.
Why do people think this will be announced for NA this coming Monday? Is there something going on Monday?
I'm having my fingers crossed that this hasn't been announced for the US yet because it will be bundled with the red Wii. Wouldn't that be awesome?!
@Blizzaga
No, unless it's also available individually considering that most of us already have the Wii.
That's what they did with the Zelda Collector's Edition disc.It came bundled with the Gamecube or you could also get it by ordering Nintendo Power.
@Don: Yes, there is supposedly an announcement this coming Monday.
@GumbyX87
...sigh...you're absolutely right. But I guess I can dream, can't I?
The ol' gray Nintendo ain't what it used to be, ain't what it used to be..."
