Surely after Nintendo bought so many shares back earlier this year that between Iwata, Miyamoto and Nintendo the good guys have the majority share? I would assume then Iwata will either be fine or they will use their majority to put someone in place who wouldn't go mobile.
@withoutdk my Wii u has frozen a fair bit over the last 18months I think it's an Internet thing for me, even if the game isn't online. Recently I have turned off the auto check for updates every 15 mins and it has almost totally stopped.
Advance Wars and Metroid for me, it's been good I have had the chance to beat metroid and super metroid again on the gamepad and now metroid fusion, I would love metroid hunters to be released on DS virtual console.
I loved this system so much I bought 2! One for me and another for my girlfriend, which she never played and I just had two in different colours, still do
Saw this advertised on pc last week, now i'm even more excited its coming to the U! I think Ninty should try and get Overgrowth up and on the eshop its a totally mental fighting game, where woodland creatures use medieval weaponry in free for all and team combat. It features instant death and some really funny rag doll physics where throwing spears into rabbits becomes disturbingly hilarious.
Wooooooooo! Now if this sells well anyone think we might get a Batallion Wars 3U? the gamepad screams rts! All i need to hear now is that DS games are launching the following week with Portrait of Ruin.
Fair enough it seems to be a bit of an indie ruled expo and Ninty have nothing new to show yet. But they could have showcased those 50 unity titles and gotten more indies on board with the Wii U just because of their showing a positive attitude towards putting a spotlight on smaller games?!
@Caryslan I think most people on these pages could see you were being objective you shouldn't have to defend your opinion. I am an early adopter of the wii u (day one) and that drought this time last year was super sh!t, thank goodness for monster hunter. I'm currently thinking about getting a ps4 after the morpheus and gakai/psNow announcements it's looking promising. It's a pain when a new gen kicks off, a lot of waiting and speculation, about two years from now everyone's going to be shouting about it being the best generation ever again.
@gatorboi352 I was under the impression that the system can actually use two gamepad controllers but no games have been made yet that would facilitate buying two (and they don't sell a second one) http://www.engadget.com/2012/06/05/nintendo-two-wii-u-gamepads-will-work-on-one-system/ I think shigsy had even said at some point last year that Ninty would be looking at making use of two gamepads once they were being sold in all territories.
The indie scene and change of policy from the wii shop was the main factor in my decision to go for the wii u at launch. It's been a long time coming but it's good to hear things are finally moving along nicely.
@Dark-Link73 I have only played up to the first proper boss, but so far some funny pop culture refs, a large looking world from the hub and a decent loot and levelling system. The mechanics are basic but fun with some potion making and plenty of weapons on offer already. The visuals too can be basic but have some nice effects from time to time and remind me of SNES era rpgs. It plays like a 2D diablo (so far) where you're really only required to push one button to mash your axe or sword into the enemies while downing potions for buffs, but it could be just as addictive as more traditional loot grinders too.
I bought this first day, but haven't had too much time to get into it properly, just finishing deus ex first then it will be my main game. I am exceedingly happy that support is ongoing for the title as it really looks like a great one from what I have played.
@Peek-a-boo I have played The Last of Us and it was a good story but one which falls into many videogame pitfalls as it has to allow for gameplay. I doubt Mario 3D World was up against it in many (if any) categories? For me though neither of the above will probably be the first game that leaves my lips when talking about current and.past gen, that would probably go to demon/dark souls.
@Honelith again that's what demon/dark souls does for me it's not the violence that makes it compelling, it the immediate fear of possible violence you would rather avoid.
Most Wanted is one of the best games on the Wii U. why more people didnt buy it is probably because, although the wii u version is superior, folk who really wanted the game got it on another system a few months earlier.
I, as every wii u owner should, almost every game on this list (only missing the batman games) But Darksiders 2 and CoD Ghosts probably pip Arkham Origins for me and Arkham City I had already completed on the xbox360.
@IxnayontheCK like the last post there are about 2000 players on a good night but a few game modes seem to be supported, not all of them, but infected, tdm, domination, kill confirmed and free for all usually have substantial enough lobbies to get a game. Likewise I have never failed to get in a lobby of invasion either so it does have a bit more variety than blogs 2 managed.
This made me smile to read, I have been.in the same situation here in the UK chasing the almighty money god. Given it up now and have gone back to uni to become a biologist rather than a Web designing accountant lol. Though I personally loved the first DKC it wasn't the best game to me or the one that got me through my childhood hardships. That crown goes to the Zelda series, always struck a chord with my imagination a bit more than any other franchise.
I was a big fan of laputa when I was little and got my auntie (who lived in Japan) to import me this and robo aleste as well as a dragon Ball z barcode battler, my god that was a great summer! Was good to find out I could get round the region lock of my Megadrive by shaving the cart slots hard edges off and making the Japanese cart fit. Needless to say I'm looking forward to having this on the 3DS
I would love them to do a first person f-zero or star fox, other than that it would be nice to see them finish Raven Blade. Not happy about the news they've only been working.on something since November though, had thought that as DK wasn't some huge leap in game physics or AI since wii it would have been made by only a portion of the team at retro and the rest would be surprising us with something at E3.
@6ch6ris6 I think metroid would benefit more from HD than the others too but would need for than just fancy graphics, like the spaceship at the beginning having more than 5 staff on it.
Looking forward to this game it looks like it has a lot of potential! and nice to see some people speak sense about the wii u user base in relation to business models too.
@XCWarrior I was reading this and thinking exactly the points you raised about NFC. The only way the idea of NFC over dlc would work in my mind, would be if Nintendo had the dlc for those that don't want lots of little figures or cards about as well as a range of toys which advertised the game, but as an added bonus could be used to add the dlc via NFC.
I do like the idea of this game but the universally bland reception of the 3DS version put me off buying it. Now I know a patch was released for that version and updated visuals are coming I'm glad I held fire as I may pick this up if it's even half decent.
I bought castlestorm day one, as I have with almost every indie eshop game for Wii u, but due to that fact I haven't been able to devote enough time to really get to grips with it. The small bit I have played looked very fun though.
@Senario I'm amazed he still has a job! I couldn't care less what his opinions are on Nintendo consoles, I'm not some angry Nintendo fan going on a rant here. As I see it, he says something slightly different every couple of weeks so if something anywhere near one of his claims comes true then he's justified his pay cheque?! The man is a pillock of fortune teller or psychic medium proportions. Maybe one day he will get the sack and end up on Living Tv with Derek Acorah looking for ghosts in electrical appliances. I wonder how many people were killed by Nintendo Virtual Boys?
This doesn't look too bad, but the quick cash in to the movie might make it a miss as far as single player goes. Multiplayer though was always fun in the cybertron games, so if that gets included with some decent stage design it could be a day one buy for me anyway
@darklinkinfinite Simons Quest is metroidvania and not a lot newer then the original. I agree with everything else you said, though I find I'm not so keen on SotN these days as I have played it too much and wow judgement was a special kind of bad!
@Remisio it is worth a look, especially the re-release with the extra characters. If you're a long time castlevania fan there's a lot to like. But like the article said, it's not perfect and some of the mechanics have aged very badly.
I hope this is a good game, these guys seem to have a good sense of humour and a positive outlook on developing games that I makes me want to support their project even if I'm not so much a sport game fan as I once was
They're quite clever though getting the Wii U user base "on-side" first as companies like shin'en and frozenbyte have done. I suppose a console with a social network built in is a console with a user base which will bite back if something is seen to be undercooked or made by people who have no respect for the players.
I was a bit let down with it, the stuff they showed was great but the emphasis was really on 3DS announcements which is doing fine sales wise I really thought they would have begun the wii u hype train early this year. I wanted some eshop games to get reveals such as Fast Racing Neo (though that's obviously not Nintendos fault it didn't). Hyrule Warriors would have been nice to see again over more Donkey Kong, GBA games are all well and good coming to the Virtual Console, but no official DS announcement was a missed opportunity. On the topic of VC, Japan has had releases for other systems such as PC engine games, is the rest of the world getting these? Lots of answers could have been given to lots of questions but instead as far as Wii U went we got the same games, different day; which doesn't really set the year up for being a great one quite like last years did.
@Ralizah it massively annoys me when people think that making a game with a sexual slant on how they treat female members is damaging to the industry. Don't get me wrong I don't really condone it, but I don't really care if it exists either. Reason being, almost every single action game that includes a male lead has an everyman, man's man, ripped muscles beyond humanly possible (due to work and life and family) and is not really any different from senran kagura in that it conveys a super deformed ideal body and attitude that consumerism tells the public to aspire to. I'd bet that guy is a gears of war fan
I would love "X" to get some more details, I wouldn't mind being told I would have to wait a lot longer, as long as they showed some more to whet my whistle. As far as eshop goes, shinen have been saying they will be showing of fast racing neo soon for the last couple of months so if that's not in there I will eat my gamepad.

@enderboy221
I keep thinking July/August, it would be the perfect time, when there is a summer game drought and fit how they handled Wonderful 101 last year.

I hope Baby Park isn't in it, as it was a little dull on the DS without all the character specials of double dash.
Re: Video: What Could The Legend Of Zelda: Skyward Sword Look Like In HD?
@Ralek85 oh yeah E3 can't come soon enough, if they balls up a Zelda reveal then I would start to worry about wii u
