Re: Talking Point: For Better Or For Worse, The Wii U GamePad Is Here To Stay

Right then once again, the gamepad is awesome. Nintendo started off showing to say that you could use it to play off screen and the original demos had people playing with wii remote then switching to the gamepad when someone wanted to watch baseball. Asymmetrical gameplay is something they thought was cool not the number one use and as any Nintendo fan knows, Nintendo won't force a gimmick where it's going to cause problems (gameplay or performance wise) so as for mario kart and DK country only having off screen, I'm as fine with that as I was with mario galaxy 1&2 to only have spin attacks and star bit pointing for waggle mechanics.

@rjejr Was wondering if you consider RETRO studio games as Nintendo games?
Totally agree about the franchises not yet seen on the Wii U, I know GameFreak are being total ^&%^&%"£ ends about putting a proper pokemon on a home console but if Nintendo made one anyway (a proper one not colosseum or snap) then the wii u would be the worlds number one selling console at least for that month, and I would give my first born for another home console Animal Crossing.

The amount of people complaining about Nintendo developing a new bit of kit seems a bit short sighted. As has been talked about many times when the Wii was released and when the 3DS was released, Nintendo start on the next machine immediately so they get a few years of development time and then years of refinement on top of that. And why does everyone assume the hardware Iwata mentions is a Wii U replacement and not the successor to the 3DS? If they announce that in a couple of years then release the year after it will have been a healthy 6 year lifespan and no-doubt (like the DS and GBA were) be supported for a while after.

I mentioned the other day it seemed as though battle arenas were gone and the excuse for why was a bit lame, you still never knew if an opponent was going to come round a corner on block fort, but double dash had some terrible/small arenas and mk wii was too big with courses more catered to online. So in respect of the fact they don't seem to be able to strike a balance I will wait and see on that one.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo's E3 Plans Are Full of Tantalising Potential

I liked the E3 presentation last year, it was just the news of another donkey kong and that poor mario 3d worlds trailer that got everyone down and I'm happy enough they will be doing the same. I find it funny it's about 12 months at E3 since news broke of Nintendo trying to ban streaming smash bros at EVO and yet they're now doing their own! It makes me feel as though all of this talk about them being back in the console war as of right this moment in time, not just PR bull.
Please ninty remember if you want to win a war, you got to become war! and SPOOOOOOOOOOON! is not a suitable warcry

Re: Download Developer Hits a "Brick Wall" When Trying to Reach Nintendo Indie Executive for Interview

Though I'm not really in for the doom and gloom of the article, I have been thinking about ways in which I would like to see Nintendo improve their dashboard as it doesn't play to my OCD very well. I have always wanted them to have separate areas or tabs for VC games, organised by machine. But if eshop purchases were organised and links put into their respective areas on the eshop, then surely if someone has a indie game menu with nothing in it, they're going to press the eshop button just to have a look at what's on offer. It tidies up the eshop a bit then too.

Re: Feature: The Ultimate Super Smash Bros. Direct Round-Up

Anyone else wondering if the release dates are separated as wii u is getting mario kart and Nintendo want to get every bit of mileage (pun intended) out of that before smash comes out and on top of that, it should also help the Wii U versions sales not be reduced further by people who own both Wii U and 3DS choosing the 3DS version?
