Re: Wii U and 3DS Nintendo Direct Confirmed for 13th February

ICHIkatakuri

I would hope for some new game announcement but have been down this road before and there is no point in getting worked up, they will show something when they're ready. Though the later time could be to coincide with worldwide eshop update..... Oh damn it I'm excited again! All I know for sure is that I would like to hear some news on the loyalty business model, I buy a lot on the eshop in fact I'm on to my 8th homescreen page and one of those is full price retail games.

Re: Nintendo Completes Share Buyback, Including Some Holdings of Hiroshi Yamauchi's Family

ICHIkatakuri

@electrolite77 I have nothing against them buying western devs just don't think there are any worthwhile in need of buying at the min, if this was a year ago when thq went under then they should have bought their assets, Sega though comes with relic and the rather loved games workshop licence rts ips which the Wii u (probably the only console capable of decent rts controls) is sorely lacking in

Re: Nintendo Completes Share Buyback, Including Some Holdings of Hiroshi Yamauchi's Family

ICHIkatakuri

@XFsWorld nope, sorry I'm a fan of games in general. People buy Nintendo consoles mainly for Nintendo games, I don't see many western companies in need of a buyout that would be worth purchasing but to get the multi-platform games developed Nintendo needs to increase the niche buyers and the easiest way would be to buy Japanese companies who are a bit all or nothing in the bank balance. From software has recently stated they don't know if they could afford to make a ps4 game, why not court themost and make their fans buy a Nintendo machine. Those mutiplatform western games will follow when the Wii u sales increase.

Re: Poll: Have Your Say on Satoru Iwata's Nintendo Strategies

ICHIkatakuri

Since it's announcement I had been toying with the idea of getting a ps4 though i know now is not the time to buy. I have a gaming pc but like to sit on the sofa while gaming so maybe in the future i'll consider a new playstation. However today I read an interview with FROM SOFTWARE about dark souls 2 in gamesTM from a couple of months ago and when asked about making games for the next gen systems they said they didn't think they could afford it! This makes me worry about the state of the gaming industry and allows me a little more faith in what Nintendo are trying with the Wii U. I can imagine a big game drought on the Xbone and PS4 over the next year or two as they end up having to rely wholly on the biggest studio's making games, which will all be sequels to hedge their bets. I hope thats not the case but it doesn't sound good having successful devs turn down the opportunity due to cost. Here is where Nintendo should start to reach into its bank balance and get some more exclusives.

Re: Iwata And Miyamoto Both Take Pay Cuts In Response To Nintendo's Poor Financial Results

ICHIkatakuri

I get the feeling if they made an advert which starts in the 80's and a kid playing the NES and as the kid got older they showed him/her getting new consoles along with school graduation, a job, a family, a new house, up to a wii and finishing with him/her replacing the Wii with a Wii U putting the two side by side you would see the difference in graphics and form factor it would hammer home this is the next generation of Nintendo consoles for the old and new generation of Nintendo gamers. They could also highlight the different things each one brought to gaming and make themselves look classy and innovative rather than the kids explaining to their parents what a Wii U is. Plus it would maybe show kids what their parents played on and how far games had come, play on peoples nostaligia

Re: Talking Point: Is There A Future For The Wii U Without The GamePad?

ICHIkatakuri

Why does everyone forget that Nintendo announced it as an addition to console gaming that could be used for off screen so the console was always on, could be used for inventory management and outside that could be used for whatever people wanted to use it for. The gamepad is a great controller and fulfils it's exact role of keeping the Wii u on and used in my lounge. Nothing on Tv I can look on Netflix while the Mrs is searching through the sky channels. My Mrs uses it as a convenient Internet browser over her phone as it's just easier to see and use. I can play games when the family wants to watch rubbish on the TV and sometimes the kids like to draw with it or it will prompt a family mario 3D world or rayman session, just because it's already switched on and being used. If Ninty sold the Wii u without the gamepad then they have already lost.

Re: Talking Point: Claims of Wii U Third-Party Development Troubles Shouldn't Be Dismissed Lightly

ICHIkatakuri

I love my Wii U, think its going to beat my previous favourite console, the SEGA saturn, for fun. Though I do wish it was taken more seriously by 3rd parties and consumers so I would see more 3rd party games and not have to turn on my PC every so often. Nintendo have had a history of releasing handheld game players for their systems and I feel it would be excellent to the wii u, now that the eshop accounts are linked, to allow 3DS games to be played on wii u through a dedicated channel, and would flood the system with must have games. I personally dont think it would impact on 3DS sales as it would tempt people into buying a 3DS to play games on the go, but also attract people who own a 3DS to Wii U as they would already have a large game collection.

Re: Sony's President of Worldwide Studios Actually Has Two Wii U Systems

ICHIkatakuri

Its a bit of a loaded comment though, stating Nintendo is simple and for younger gamers before they buy a playstation. He doesn't state if he has two because he has two kids though, so it could be lost in translation a little and actually be praise. I kind of wish I could have two and keep one in my room (preferably a Zelda version)

Re: NPD Results Deliver a 3DS Milestone And Modest Wii U Sales

ICHIkatakuri

I think that's not bad numbers for Wii u sales it's almost 1/4 of a million and although it should and could have been better we all know that wii u was going to do badly with the other consoles to fight for space. The coming months when those people who want to own a Wii u as well as a xbone or ps4 will start to show up and hopefully a better Christmas month in all territorieswould be nice. Nintendo need to start thinking about broadening the market and tapping into New territories if it's going to succeed in being competitive with the Wii u now, more console sales from markets which have not gotten into the habit of only buying Nintendo games can't hurt the third party support.

Re: Sonic Lost World Gets Patched Up On Wii U

ICHIkatakuri

I was really enjoying this game apart from one or two wonky boss fights and a couple of stages which were a tit until I remembered to let go of the run button. Then I started it up a couple of weeks ago and all my progress was deleted

Re: Review: Call of Duty: Ghosts (Wii U)

ICHIkatakuri

I'm enjoying the single player much more than I have in recent years. I find that because it's so silly, it doesn't offend me anywhere near as much as when they try and be relevant or over realistic which always comes off as being disrespectful to those peoples or countries currently wrapped up in wars or social unrest. Something like this game with it's aliens and everybody ganging up on the USA (one day), it's been more akin to going to the cinema and watching an Arnie movie back in the late 80's early 90's. As such I have even managed to have fun with the MP and more people seem to be on more modes than was managed with black ops 2, still not many people but getting in games of infection break up the tedium of constant team deathmatch.
I am not an advocate of CoD but I do like competitive online multiplayer and at the min for the Wii U I have this and Splinter Cell. Hell I would rather be playing splinter cell but no-one is ever on that game. After a long day, when all I want to do is just relax online, this is the game I currently have to turn to (If I want to sit on my couch and not at the PC) and compared to blops2, it doesn't seem too different, except I might actually finish the single player campaign. I would give it a 7 or 8 out of 10 personally, but I didn't care about CoD before I had nothing but CoD to play online

Re: Review: Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag (Wii U)

ICHIkatakuri

@unrandomsam actually I watched a university talk about that on Ted once and an impressive amount of people can't tell the difference between 30-60fps don't know why and I can't remember the statistic, but do remember that only around 10% of those who could tell the difference can notice a change between 60-90fps so I imagine barely anyone can tell if their game is running at 120fps and if they say they can its likely they're bullshi**ing.

Re: Review: Sonic Lost World (Wii U)

ICHIkatakuri

I'm a little bit of a gaming sadist, but I really love this game. The review is fair though and I can see why elements of the game will polarise opinion. For me the exploration is just right, and if you hit a bumper or trigger then get sent half way through the level, it's no different to the original 3 games. Plus its a bit of tough one and requires learning through being punished by things you didn't see coming, I can cope with that, in fact I prefer this game to Rayman.
