Oh man, Final Fantasy III is probably one of the only RPGS worth playing on the NES (and possibly Earthbound Zero and some of the Dragon Quest games, but I haven't played them). It's aged surprisingly well, especially considering its predecessors.
I know they'd never sell a fan patched game, but still, the Japanese are so lucky!
That being said, while the get two controllers out of the box, I don't think either of them is a classic controller like with the NES version. Seems like a fair trade off.
@3MonthBeef That being said, there's a character in the Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy called Trillian (with an "a" mind you), so maybe that's what they had in mind?
I have mixed feelings on this. On one hand, it would be a hybrid like we've always dreamed, but I am also of the opinion that the Wii U's successor should be at least as powerful as the PlayStation 4 in order to compete and be able to get multi-plats.
Ideally, the home console component would have PS4 levels of power and be sold separately from the handheld component, which should circumvent the issue of price. I also think that a lot of people who have an interest in home consoles, don't care very much about handhelds and vice-versa. Just look at the sales of the PS3/PS4 versus the Vita, and then look at the Japanese markets infatuation with handheld/mobile games.
He means Okami 3. If there is a third game, the title will not be up to Kamiya anyway because Capcom owns the IP and would like to recognize that Okamiden, a fantastic game in its own right (though I agree, it should have been on 3DS, the DS' hardware really held the game back), exists. Or they could just not have number in the title, and keep everyone happy.
No offense to Kamiya, I love basically every game he has ever graced with his godly touch, but I think it's a bit like Sakurai's dislike of every Kirby game after Super Star/Fun Pak, as that was the last game he was involved in. He hasn't included any content from those games besides music in Smash Bros, and in Brawl the Kirby section of trophies is simply called "Kirby Super Star". You could also liken it to Miyamoto, being well, Miyamoto.
I don't think people's problem with Melee fanboys is that they play a decade and a half old game, it's that they constantly proclaim that it is simple, objective matter of fact that Melee is more competitive than Smash 4.
Seriously, it's a good game, especially for it's time, but the reality is it was rushed to release and is severely lacking many features introduced by its successors. I still play it occasionally, mainly for the Adventure Mode and if I'd grown up with it and had nostalgia for it, I'd probably play it far more, but after a few hours I began to realize that the game is a glitchfest, with clunky physics and half-**sed clones. The game is also horribly unbalanced by competitive fighting game standards (it's almost like it wasn't meant to be a competitive fighting game), if you don't play as Fox, Falco, Marth or Captain Falcon forget about it. Funnily enough, even though the PAL version of the game made many balance adjustments (such as Fox's Up Smash), the US/NTSC version is preferred by most Melee elitists. It's almost like they like playing as the same six characters for 15 years.
And then there's the "Brawl is a *hit game, end of story". I mean seriously, remove tripping, and nerf Meta Knight, and you've got a far more balanced game with a bigger roster, which probably has more competitive potential than Melee. Hell, there's even a mod that does just that. http://balancedbrawl.net/
So all in all, I'd say Melee is a dog (or should I say Fox) that's had its day (especially now that Smash 4 has Roy and Mewtwo).
That sucks, especially considering OOT3D can do exactly the same thing (i.e load a hacked save file to crash the game and load the userland exploit), but remains up on the eShop.
Zelda doesn't need voice acting, never has, and "it'll create deh dank memes" is really scraping the bottom of the barrel (roll) when it comes to arguments. @Grumblevolcano No, free online is one of the few edges Nintendo has over the competition. They'd be stupid to drop that. Plus, at this stage Nintendo cares more about how many products they're selling rather than the exact amount of profit they're making.
@nick3529 It was remade just 4 years in one of my favourite remakes of all time. The game doesn't need a shoddy art style change and a ton of bloom like how they butchered Wind Waker.
@Ayronom We can't know for sure. For all we know they were going to "show off" and weren't aware of the gun laws. (rolls eyes) They still deserve a sentence though, 5-8 years. Plain stupidity is likely the cause.
Although perhaps more evidence will come out that proves there was malicious intent. In which case they certainly deserve a life sentence.
He didn't like the game. Too bad. It's his opinion. Get over it. I wouldn't even consider 6/10 a "bad" game. He gave good criticisms, maybe the game is a bit repetitive. Even if he explicitly said "the fan service is completely in your face and gets annoying", so what? He can say that and that's a perfectly good reason to dislike a game.
I'd swear with some of these comments ("you're dead to me" "you're just objectively wrong" etc.) that this was a clickbait article on how murder was justifiable in certain situations or something.
I wouldn't call the figures "crappy low quality". I, admittedly, am the owner of a few, and I can say that while they're not $80 Figmas, they're certainly not McDonald's toys either. While there have been a few misses, such as Marth, ( I've even heard that they fixed his face for the second print run) I feel they're good value for money, especially since many of these characters (Robin, Lucas, G&W) would never gotten an official figure otherwise, at least, outside of Japan.
Now, I have to agree with you about that locked DLC. While I'm neutral on the MK8 and Yarn Yoshi costumes, as both are entirely cosmetic, the former was added long after launch and the latter has enough costumes without them, the Splatoon stuff sickens me. It's one ENTIRE mode (the only way to use the Paint Roller and Sniper in single player I might add) nine stat affecting pieces of gear that have almost nothing to do with the figures and three weapons, all locked behind three figures that should cost about $40 together (before "scalper's tax" is added, of course). Not to mention this an online multiplayer game, meaning that those with the Amiibo have a minor advantage over those who don't. Overall, blatant money grubbing by Nintendo, and I believe Mario Party 10 does something similar.
Super Mario Maker and Smash Bros has it done right. Have there be another way of obtaining the item or make it so the mechanic would be almost impossible to implement without the NFC. That's this Amiibo thing done right.
But really understand this "Ughh, advertisement" thing I see in comments section of every College Humour video. It's Transformers, in a Nintendo game! What's not to love? Plus, I personally feel that it's more likely that Nintendo paid Hasbro for the liscening rather than the other way around.
Anyway, it'll be Dancin' for me hands-down. One, because I have no idea what I sound like and two, most of the lyrics to songs these days are pretty crappy, if we're being honest.
@Octane Yeah, while arguably just as fun to fight, I just thought he was kinda a blatant, shameless, lazy rip off of the original first boss, a bad first impression overall, especially when this turned out to be a running theme of reusing ideas throughout the game. If he was a hidden boss later on in the game as a throwback to the original, I wouldn't have minded as much, but the first boss, occupying the exact same role? At least Minileg isn't anything like Megaleg from the first game.
I too noticed the lack pf a space theme, there did seem to be a lot of clouds (and cloud flowers), and the lack of Beachbowl style levels. It kinda seemed to try to be a middleground between the original and 3D Land, which didn't really work out IMO.
But as we all know, anybody who says it's better than the original just really likes Yoshi.
@DreamOn @Octane Yeah, I was really hyped for this too, one of the few games I had gotten at launch at the time. But it was so linear and souless, it ripped so many assets from the first game yet still felt nothing like it (The "mini" Dino Piranha Plant at the beginning left a bad taste in the mouth that lasted with me through the whole game). The Cloud Flower felt like the only power-up to be used extensively, while the Boo Mushroom is only used once in the whole game! But Yoshi was cool, I guess. Galaxy 1 had a nice mix of linear and more open level design (Beach Bowl and Buoy Base were some of my favourites), while Galaxy 2 was entirely linear. Even the hub "world" is tiny.
Overall, Galaxy 2 with its reused assets and story, linear level design seemed like an attempt to sweep the first game under the rug and replicate its success, much like Pikmin 3 did to 2 (and both games where Shigeru Miyamoto was at the helm, I wonder...). The final world being made up almost entirley of levels ripped from the first game really rubbed me the wrong way. The only galaxy name I can remember from the second game is Supermassive Galaxy just out of how lazy the whole thing was. And then there's that final level and its 30 Hammer Brothers, 'nuff said. Easily my least favourite Mario platformer.
I'd also like to point out how the cover art features a planet from the first game that doesn't appear in any shape or form in the game itself. That makes me chuckle more than it should.
@Fazermint That was confirmed about three months ago. You can join levels together in groups of four to make worlds. Don't know about joining worlds though.
As @Gridatttack said above, you have to get a high rating from people who play your levels in order to make more than 10. I like this as it prevents spam. My only problem is that I hope levels are well distributed. It was hard to get noticed in games like Little Big Planet.
Way to nerf archers YET AGAIN, making them weak to the two most common weapons in the game with no logical or gameplay-related explanation! If you want dark and these new "dark weapons" to have a weakness, how about just bringing back light magic? Because that would just make too much sense.
And weapon durability, as @Yorumi said, was a major balancing tool and it annoys me to see it effectively thrown out the window. I liked the special, unlimited use weapons like the Falchion and Ragnell, as they were balanced as they were character specific mostly on par or even inferior to what you already had at the time (and I'll admit, I was a little horrified to learn that Roy's only saving grace, the Sword of Seals, broke after only 20 hits). Now they're adding in all this crap to try differentiate the normal weapons, like bronze weapons not even being able to critical hit (making them effectively useless) when durability did this just fine. Change for the sake of change is rarely a good thing.
This, along with the anti-consumer practice of selling the game in halves and the "easy path, hard path", both removing any big story-related moral decision from the game(s), as well as the likely "one-and-a-half years after Japan and everything is spoilt" release date, I'm quickly losing interest in this game (shame).
I also have to agree @invictus4000 , I'm not sure how I feel about Japan being the "good guys" (lol patriotism ).
@Quorthon I think it's more likely to be a replacement for the 3DS. Think about it, the 3DS will be in its 5th year by the time this is revealed next year.
Many of the changes made were very questionable, such as Ice Arrows being dumbed down, Zora Link needing a defibrillator to swim, the giant-obvious-weak-point-eyes on all the bosses, the design of the badase Garo's Mask being changed to that of a stupid looking golden crow (that was my favourite Mask ) and last but certainly not least; a pop-up telling you exactly what to do every time you talk to someone.
I may get a used copy later on, but an extra bottle and prettier graphics just doesn't cut it for me.
One of the most dissapointing sequels I have ever played, too linear and soulless, none of the magic of the first game. I'm certainly not buying it a second time!
I stopped listening after he said a every 1-Up creates an entirely new universe. Never mind the fact that Mario's death wouldn't cause the world to be devoured by a black hole, we actually see him use them in the RPGs, they simply bring him back from unconsciousness.
And the "Link is Dead" episode is just as bad (considering it's their most watched video). "Because the devs decided to reuse a few characters, it most all be constructed from his memories, cuz he's dead and in purgatory and stuff. And as for the people and landscapes he's never seen before, they don't exist for the purpose of this theory. Also, PBG is in this video! Like, fav, don't comment and subscribe!"
Hmm... well Wii had the best New courses, character roster and Battle Mode, 7 had the best selection of Retro tracks, added the stunt mechanic and reintroduced coins, which really freshened up the gameplay. I'm pretty sure it's the one I've put the most hours into, too.
However, I really did like MK8. It had MK7's gameplay but put it in HD. I probably would have voted for that if I hadn't known it would win by a landslide.
Super Mario Advance 2!? Man, one of the best remakes ever made! It fixed the broken power up-system, added a proper intro, Yoshi's arms are no-longer an unhealthy orange and let you play as Luigi as a bonus!
Only problem is, I had already given up hope of this releasing and got the Super Nintendo one instead. Worst 8 bucks I've ever spent. I really hate the SNES version...
1.Villager (very interesting, Pocket and Rocket moves look fun) 2.Mii times Trii (has the "make your own" thing while still having references to their own games) 3.Pac-Man (great personality, summoning minions looks fun) 4.Little Mac (powerhouse, like the character, dat hoodie) 5.Mega Man (moveset represents him very well, ranged A attacks look interesting) 6.WFT (interesting moveset, I like that the male is playable too) 7.Greninja (the trailer fake out where we were led to believe it was Mewtwo has left a bad taste in the mouth, interesting playstyle nonetheless) 8.Lucina (while I would have prefered Chrom, after learning that she didn't take up that much development time, I might use her over Marth) 9.Robin (too gimmicky, the whole "limited ammo" thing doesn't sound like it'll work very well) 10.Rosalina&Luma (I don't like the character and don't see why she was chosen over Toad and Waluigi, and again, looks too gimmicky+hard to control) 11.Palutena (moveset(s) look boring, personality doesn't seem to have been brought over, and that running animation looks, err.., awkward.

Though I do miss when that was inbuilt feature of the Wii. I hope it comes back for the NX, but as games become more online focused, I doubt it.

Re: Random: Super Smash Bros. Melee Input Lag Remains a Hot Topic Among Fans

That's really my main issue with it.
Re: Wii U System Version 5.5.1 is Now Available
So it's been confirmed that this patches a major exploit in the Wii U's browser called Stagefright that was the basis of Hykem's upcoming exploit.
Hykem said:
It was just a matter of time before this exploit was published. The Stagefright issue was widely publicized and tons of PoCs were published as well:
http://googleprojectzero.blogspot.pt/2015/09/stagefrightened.html
https://blog.zimperium.com/stagefright-vulnerability-details-stagefright-detector-tool-released/
Anyway, yes, our 5.4.0/5.5.0 userland exploit is based on one of the Stagefright bugs, so, what yellows8 mentioned is accurate.
Well crap, no HD GameCube or Smash Bros, Mario Kart or Xenoblade mods for anyone who updated. :/ Thankfully, my Wii U was unplugged last night.

Re: New Nintendo 3DS Region-Free Exploit Now Tweaked to Work on North American and European Systems
Since this is also runs on outdated firmware, it's probably better to just use the old browser exploit that let you play GBC roms and such.
Re: Pokémon Rumble World Rated By the Australian Classification Board
I just hope you can level up and evolve Pokémon. Using your favs is the main draw to Pokémon for me.
Re: Nintendo Teases Cross-Platform Club Nintendo Successor In Conjunction With DeNA
@Quorthon I think it's more likely to be a replacement for the 3DS. Think about it, the 3DS will be in its 5th year by the time this is revealed next year.
Re: 3DS Browser Exploit Hackers Bypass Pokémon Shuffle Microtransactions
I just hope that if this is indeed patched that the Pokémon box editor is left alone.
Re: Eiji Aonuma Explains Several Design Choices in the Creation of Majora’s Mask
Re: Video: Does Super Mario Galaxy 2 On Wii U Offer Anything New?
One of the most dissapointing sequels I have ever played, too linear and soulless, none of the magic of the first game. I'm certainly not buying it a second time!
Re: Weirdness: This Interpretation of Super Smash Bros. 'Lore' Takes a Serious Turn
@GhotiH
Man, that annoys me to no end.
Re: Poll: Which is the Best Mario Kart Game?
Hmm... well Wii had the best New courses, character roster and Battle Mode, 7 had the best selection of Retro tracks, added the stunt mechanic and reintroduced coins, which really freshened up the gameplay. I'm pretty sure it's the one I've put the most hours into, too.
However, I really did like MK8. It had MK7's gameplay but put it in HD. I probably would have voted for that if I hadn't known it would win by a landslide.
Re: Nintendo Download: 25th December (North America)
Super Mario Advance 2!? Man, one of the best remakes ever made! It fixed the broken power up-system, added a proper intro, Yoshi's arms are no-longer an unhealthy orange and let you play as Luigi as a bonus!
Only problem is, I had already given up hope of this releasing and got the Super Nintendo one instead. Worst 8 bucks I've ever spent. I really hate the SNES version...
Re: Poll: Which is Your Favourite Super Smash Bros. Challenger So Far?
1.Villager (very interesting, Pocket and Rocket moves look fun)
2.Mii times Trii (has the "make your own" thing while still having references to their own games)
3.Pac-Man (great personality, summoning minions looks fun)
4.Little Mac (powerhouse, like the character, dat hoodie)
5.Mega Man (moveset represents him very well, ranged A attacks look interesting)
6.WFT (interesting moveset, I like that the male is playable too)
7.Greninja (the trailer fake out where we were led to believe it was Mewtwo has left a bad taste in the mouth, interesting playstyle nonetheless)
8.Lucina (while I would have prefered Chrom, after learning that she didn't take up that much development time, I might use her over Marth)
9.Robin (too gimmicky, the whole "limited ammo" thing doesn't sound like it'll work very well)
10.Rosalina&Luma (I don't like the character and don't see why she was chosen over Toad and Waluigi, and again, looks too gimmicky+hard to control)
11.Palutena (moveset(s) look boring, personality doesn't seem to have been brought over, and that running animation looks, err.., awkward.
