When Nintendo launched Super Mario Bros. 3 on the Game Boy Advance under the rather misleading title Super Mario Advance 4, it included 30 secret stages - all falling under the banner "World-e" - which could only be unlocked by using the optional e-Reader accessory and a set of special cards.
Given that both of these elements were quite hard to get hold of even at the time of release, not many people got to experience these stages - but thankfully that has now changed as fans Baddboy78 and theycallmeshaky have painstakingly replicated the levels in Super Mario Maker. Well, almost all of them anyway - some of the stages cannot be reproduced in the game as it lacks the items required to do so.

Cool. Will definitely give these a try...
I would have preferred if all of these were in the SMB3, but I guess that's what download and edit is for.
Awesome!
Nice one, good idea!
I'm hoping DLC will arrive for Super Mario Maker so we can do more level design stuff and trickery. Love this game though in its current state, I just hope Nintendo expands on it!
I figured these would be made sooner or later.
That said, I'm sure NSMB 2's DLC levels will be next.... XD
I saw these last night on a forum I post in. They are really cool! I have the e-reader and the Mario cards so I played this back in the day.
My many hats off to ye!
I saw these on the Mario Maker subreddit last night. Very dedicated creators and they did a really good job within the limits of Mario Maker.
I'm glad you guys put up an article about this, they deserve the recognition!
I found a rom and a patch for those levels earlier this year. They're really fun! I wish that Nintendo would officially release them as a standalone level pack or something. Seems like a waste since hardly anyone got to play through those levels even in their day. It's too bad SMM doesn't have star coins... Or checkpoints...
Could've kept the smb3 design, I swear that art style gets underused.
Awesome, now how bout creating the actual Lost Levels, you know the ones that were included in the original Super Mario Bros. 3 but were hidden within the final game. These levels:

I was in the middle of remaking Coro Coro Castle myself.
Wow, this is awesome! I never had the money to buy an e-reader or the cards back when they released, but I do remember one store that had them in stock when I was younger... I'll definitely have to check these out tonight!
To the ones complaining about the difference in style, in order to replicate some of the levels because the mechanics differ on some of the styles it's possible they may have had to use a different style to make it easier to replicate. I could be wrong, but just a guess.
DUDE I LOVED THE E READER SO MUCH AND THOSE LEVELS WERE ONE OF THE MAIN REASONS
Wait... Isn't the original 3ds Amiibo scanner just a semi-fancier e-reader? It can read cards and everything!
@retro_player_22 slopes
Everyone complaining about Nintendo's DLC: Funny thing, back in 2003 DLC was sold as random cards you had to buy from the store and if you lived in Europe, you would have to import everything.
I have an e-Reader but I don't have a USA copy of SMA4 or any of those cards. I've seen some of those levels in Youtube but I would like to try some of these levels in SMM.
I would like them to release Super Mario Advance 4 on the Wii U VC.
This is great! I've never played them originally, so this is a great way to try them out.
I was expecting Nintendo to do this!
Why do many of these levels use SNES or NSMB graphics instead of SMB3???
@Luffymcduck I never got the e-reader. I only picked up GBA in 2004 but my CIB SMB3 had a tanooki leaf on it.
@Captain_Gonru
They could implement them with the Amiibo Cards. The perfect homage to the "e-reader cards"
@mjc0961 I do wish Nintendo used QR codes for both Smash and Super Mario Maker.
I just finished my own version of Bombarded by Bob-ombs

Oh wow! Now see THIS is what I'm talking about, quality Mario levels rather than just some masochistic twit throwing blocks together to make a level "Impossibly hard." Those levels are good once in a while to challenge yourself but I prefer not having to skip a plethora of them every time I dare play 100-Mario-Challenge.
And yes, I know they were E-Reader levels, but still, can traditional-style levels in SMM get some love?
@dougphisig you are correct, while of being SMB 3, it was done up and mostly implementing gear from Super Mario World. The choices were made purely on enemies and items first, then design / palette. Eg. a flying level could only be done with a raccoon suit or cape, but then the level is filled with blocks that can only be smashed while being big. can't use world cause you could still flip blocks while being small...
I know most of you want to see all the levels done in SMB3, it is easy enough to download your favorite levels and edit them, to change their generation style. and also, for those who might not know. You don't have to download every single code, you can just copy the first ID and then follow the creator to gain access to other levels.
I actually did 2 levels.
Heres a remix of Magical Noteblock 2:

And here is a port of a level not featured here, named Mad Dash!
9DC8-0000-005D-3515
Instead of the 5 advance coins SMA4 had, here they are 1 up mushrooms on tracks.
AMAZEBALLS!!! Great job guys - thanks
@Captain_Gonru Because Nintendo don't want their fans to enjoy those levels. However, fans want other fans to enjoy them, which I think it's very generous. Will Nintendo sue those fans because Nintendo copyrights those levels?? Sadly, it wouldn't surprise me at all.
Nice work
Many of the cards were exclusive to the Walmart version of the original GBA game, which is why I specifically purchased that version back in the day. Good to see them available to more people, even if it's an unusual delivery method!
Nice, were these added to your Super Mario Maker community?
@Chaotic_Eevee I couldn't agree more! Give true platforming more room! Enough with the bat crazy stuff, the automatics and the endless runners. I'd like some excellent, Nintendolike levels!
@FlappyFalco My guess is that some levels needed objects from certain games in order to be playable, but that may not be right.
@XCWarrior Yes, in a way. first ID for the first level of each game, saves displaying all 76 id codes.
Super Mario Land - 1-1: 85AA 0000 0020 BB64
Super Mario Land 2 - Mushroom House: EDCB 0000 0044 D5DC
e-reader - E-1 Wild Ride in the Sky: 2B4B 0000 007B 5343
@Totaldude911 Correct, most of the levels were actually using Mario world scenes, enemies and tools.
Same with the graphics, got many complaints that i wasn't using SM3 generation as much, but the GBA version didn't use it either, it used the all star version, which is closer to Mario world.
I just finished going through all of the e-reader levels, plus all of the super mario land and super mario land 2 levels, and recorded them.

@syrilram Thank you, i hope you had fun playing them as well.
Did you have a particular favorite?
Also, just subscribed to your channel.
This is excellent, I was actually hoping that someone would recreate the E-reader exclusive levels! Waiting for my copy of Mario Maker to arrive...
These levels here are great, and I had lots of fun playing them. There's something nice about playing a level and knowing that it's not going to be impossible or filled with bad design like a lot of other Mario Maker stages. I really enjoyed all of the remade levels, but I think my favorite would have to be either e-4: Pipes o' plenty or e-21: 60 seconds. The pipe one was just kind of complicated, but doable, and the 60 second level was super fun trying to race to the finish in time.
Cool! I'll try them out someday.
