It's easy to forget how sparse 2017 was (besides BotW) especially those first few months. I got mine Day 1 and I've put many enjoyable hours into playing games I hadn't played before. There's definitely room for growth, but better to have excellent experiences lined up for years to come than, just putting it all out there day 1
I think the mouse control is core to the experience, but if you had to offer alternative controls, the online match making could be set up to match only with others playing the way are (with no option to switch outside the main menu) that would prevent any advantage gained using traditional controls
I think everyone needs to calm down until we actually see the final release (which is at the very least likely to be several weeks away), they may well be bad, as bad as they are now even but there is plenty of opportunity to improve optimisation before then so we are likely to see at least some improvement before then. Especially as Devs are gaining experience with the hardware
Do Acclaim still hold any of their old IP? They were bought and shuttered in 2010 by a company that was subsequently bought by Disney. The press release about their re-launch made it sound like they are looking to support small developers with their experience - which sounds completely unlike Acclaim from back in the day - which is definitely a good thing
6/10 - I don't think that is entirely fair, because I am not the person this direct was, but I can only give it a score that reflects my own thoughts. I am glad it happened though, and in the way that it did, for all the Sakurai and Air Ride fans
We got some really big Indie announcements in the OG Switch 2 presentation - Hades 2, Enter the Gungeon 2, Silksong - so based on last week we won't hear anything about them...
It just felt really odd. Some interesting games, I particularly enjoyed the fact that there's a new Katamari game, but this was the first direct in the life of a new console, so from that point of view it felt quite underwhelming
Hard to just patch in, but actual NPC interactions that trigger missions instead of just the P switches and a Photo album scavenger hunt, roaming the map taking photos of the things the album asks for
Not really my kind of game (never had much time for Rocket League etc), but the controller set up really interests me, so I think that's a price my curiosity could live with
I think that if you're in the fan space, whether that is as a Nintendo fan or general gaming fan, we struggle to remove ourselves from that bubble and we're probably to consumed by the groupthink too realise that for the average consumer, Welcome Tour is the cheapest Switch 2 Exclusive and might be an attractive option on their brand new console
I voted that I got mine without any hassle (I'm in the UK), and that is true to a point but all of the hassle I experienced was a me thing, not a retailer thing. I put it in my cart 4 or 5 times over the last few weeks and then decided not to go through with it. I then did buy it but then cancelled it immediately. I finally bit the bullet and went through with it yesterday (the MKW bundle, Cyberpunk and an SD card if you're interested), and so far I remain committed to it this time. Anyway all of that is to say that in the UK I could have ordered one at least 6 times, and can still order it now. No issues here.
Not a fan of the red, in handheld especially it feels a bit much, but realistically the colour is not the biggest issue the eShop needs to deal with, I mean why are the filtering options so bad?
I am not a physical game absolutist, and I think the game card is an improvement on the code in a box - as long as the servers are online you can sell it or lend it - but for it to be in a $250 collectors edition is genuinely shameful and Limited Run Games need to be called out on it. Forever Physical? My arse.
I think if you have any intention of buying digital games, or any third party title except Cyberpunk, the SD card is a must have as early as possible. I really want the GameCube controller for my collection. Anything else, I will pick up down the line
At that price, I don't understand why they're bothering to charge for it separately rather than have it pre installed on the system. As a pack-in, a game-ified instruction manual is quirky, fun, and nice work Nintendo. Charging separately for the instruction manual is grubby and cheap and Nintendo needs to think long and hard about messaging. I won't be buying because as a consumer, it's the only weapon I have

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Direct September Predictions - What Do You Hope To See?
Highly unlikely, but Persona 6 would show everyone who is wearing the big boy trousers or Clair Obscur would be nice too

Re: Indiana Jones And The Great Circle Will Launch On Switch 2 In 2026
It's one of the games I was most hoping for, so I'm very pleased

Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Drag x Drive
@rjejr yes bundled with a new set of Joycon for local 2 player would have been perfect
Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Drag x Drive
I enjoyed playing it for a half hour during the global jam, but not enough to feel the need to go back. Feels like a demo for a new mechanic
Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Indie World Showcase Predictions - What Do You Hope To See?
My two biggest wants would be UFO50 and Blue Prince
Re: Surprise! Nintendo Announces Indie World Showcase For Thursday 7th August 2025
We got some really big Indie announcements in the OG Switch 2 presentation - Hades 2, Enter the Gungeon 2, Silksong - so based on last week we won't hear anything about them...
Personally I would like Blue Prince and UFO50

Re: Poll: How Many Hours Have You Spent In Mario Kart World So Far?
About 12, mainly because of the 40+ hours that have gone into Cyberpunk

Re: Poll: So, Have You Used Zelda Notes Yet?
I have been busy with Mario Kart & Cyberpunk, but I will probably give it a try when I start on Tears of the Kingdom next.

I watched the UK stream, it was also fine
