Re: Celebrate The Game Boy's 30th By Putting Your Raspberry Pi Inside This Awesome Case

DragonbornRito

@Heavyarms55 Naw, I honestly wish more people were like you. So often, it's either "You're all criminal scum for emulating" or "Who would pay money for a 30 year old game?", and rarely in between. I own a Pi and emulate quite often, but I also have quite the legit collection of Virtual Console titles and other classic titles on other platforms (PSX on PS3/Vita for example). It's just refreshing to not see an instant flame war when the subject comes up now.

Re: Review: Hunting Simulator (Switch)

DragonbornRito

@PanurgeJr I'm not encouraging anyone to not speak their minds, I'm saying making inflammatory politically-driven jabbing comments on a video game website has zero positive effect. It unnecessarily riles up people who feel like they're being accused of something that is definitely not true just because they fall into said basket.

Also, those are your opinions, which you're entitled to, but there is no certifiable evidence to either of those claims, especially the NRA being a terrorist organization... (Trump not defending the US from Putin's comments was not ideal behavior from our leader, but it takes a lot of mental gymnastics to call that traitorous.) There's just so many sensationalistic comments made these days just to appeal for emotional responses. And I'm talking about people on both sides of the aisle, especially Trump and many of his Twitter tirades. But go ahead and reply with the evidence I'm sure you have bookmarked (mentally or digitally) for instances like these. I still contend this is a silly platform for a discussion like this, no place for name calling, accusations, what have you. It's just a waste of time and finger energy.

Re: Review: Hunting Simulator (Switch)

DragonbornRito

@Agramonte These overgeneralizing political jabs are so dumb. It's uncalled for. I am a Trump supporter (don't agree with everything he's done, but I'm not going to get into a pointless discussion in the NL comment section regardless). Comments like yours have no net positive effect. It just serves to increase the vitriol and divide in America.

I have no interest in this game and I can afford my Switch, just as a by-the-way. 🇺🇲

Re: Explore The Hand-Drawn World Of Hollow Knight Right Now On Switch

DragonbornRito

@Fake-E-Lee & everyone else: You can pick Hollow Knight up from the Mexican eShop for about $7.28 USD. All you gotta do is temporarily change your region in your account settings on Nintendo.com. You can buy the game and immediately change back to your region. I just tried it and it worked perfectly. Thanks to /u/Kyuubee on Reddit for that tip.

Also, glad you quit smoking, that's huge!

Re: E3 2018: What Do You Want To See From Nintendo At E3?

DragonbornRito

@MoonKnight7 Indeed, I remember saying to myself, "we're 25 minutes in and we've seen one game and a bunch of middle-aged dudes doing their impression of the Twitch @ E3 panel". It was STUPID. TLOU2 looks amazing, but all that fluff was entirely unnecessary. Also, why wouldn't they have some footage playing during that banjo recital? Everything about it was so awkward.

All in all though, I was just expecting more. Like, this is the biggest show all year and this is the best you could trot out? Again, I'd like to repeat that the footage shown was awesome and they're looking like terrific games, but it feels like Sony just doesn't take E3 as seriously as they used to anymore.

Re: E3 2018: What Do You Want To See From Nintendo At E3?

DragonbornRito

After the mediocrity of the Sony and Xbox shows, I'm just hoping Nintendo delivers the goods in any form or fashion.

Sony's show was literally "here's the same games we've been showing for three E3s now, plus some samurai games". Sure the footage was very nice but by the end of it, I honestly couldn't believe that's all we got. Best thing I saw was the KH3 Pirates trailer.

Microsoft's show was better, but not by a massive amount. More reveals, but nothing that made me get super hyped. I'm not a Halo fan, so perhaps that would've done much more for me. KH3 was the best part of that show again for me, but Forza Horizon 4 was a close second.

EA is bringing Madden back to PC, so yay, but nothing else of interest. Bethesda with the TES: Legends Switch reveal and the TES6 confirmation were great, but meh otherwise. Ubisoft showed basically nothing of interest for me. Starlink is cool, but I don't need more amiibo-like toys floating around my house that I won't be using in 3 months. Square Enix gave us some more KH3 and Shadow of the Tomb Raider goodness, but little else of worth.

So, please Nintendo. The pitcher has thrown you a slow fastball right in the center of the strike zone. Knock it out of the park.

Re: FIFA 19 Officially Confirmed For Nintendo Switch, Launches This September

DragonbornRito

@Meaty-cheeky No guarantee that those would sell well enough to justify production costs. Madden isn't really that popular outside the US, whereas FIFA is pretty much a worldwide phenomenon. Command & Conquer is more well suited to the phone, it would be pretty hard to monetize it well enough on the Switch to warrant the resources necessary for a port. Burnout might do well, but the Remaster didn't exactly light the world on fire on the PS4 and Xbox One. It's a solid remaster, but I doubt it massively helped EA's bottom line. It only topped sales charts for a short time, and that's because the biggest competition it had was Kirby Star Allies.

It's not always about companies not wanting our money. It's about whether or not they think they can get enough of our money to justify spending theirs.

Re: Nintendo's Share Price Sees Dramatic Rise After Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee Reveals

DragonbornRito

Yep, getting back on Pokemon GO. I really need to find my GO Plus...

I think it's a genius idea. I love the fact that my 5 year old will be able to help me by throwing Pokeballs (the only thing in PGO she enjoys doing anyways) and running around the game world with me. It will give TPC another flux of income to further the production of Gen 8. And it will likely have a similar effect to PGO's release in 2016 (although not to the same scale, considering everyone has a smartphone these days, but not necessarily a Switch).

Another benefit is I'm not currently undergoing the "new Pokemon game" withdrawal effects I usually feel when TPC gives us a drip feed of information about a new generation. I saw the trailer, I'm sold on it, but I'm perfectly okay waiting until November. Gives me plenty of time to try to get back into GO again.

Re: Hacker Praises Nintendo's Switch Security Efforts, But Says Console Is "Completely Compromised"

DragonbornRito

@HappyMaskedGuy That's a decision you choose to make when you mod your car, same goes for your game system. Doesn't change the fact that modding cars isn't some awful, shady practice.

All pirates are hackers, but not all hackers are pirates. Yes, hacking can open the door for piracy, but it doesn't mean all hackers are pirates.

Also, holy crap man, sure let's drop millions of dollars for the rights to a game. Hyperbole much? Also, tracking down a used copy of a rare game doesn't support the developer in any way whatsoever. The sale that produced them money has already been made, you're just pumping money into the aftermarket. I don't condone piracy of actively sold games, but you went into another area here, and it's not a good one for your argument. If I want to play a really old game that would cost me hundreds of dollars to play on original hardware, without the benefits of potential translation patches, and I want to play that game on my PSP Go (or Switch in a few years when I feel that losing my repair support from Nintendo doesn't outweigh having a beautiful 6" tablet with physical controls to emulate on), then darn it I'm going to play it. No one suffered from me doing this, the game has been off the market for years. I just wish people weren't so staunchly against all forms of hacking ever. It's not all bad, even if there are some bad seeds out there sharing game files of products you can still buy new at your local game shop.

Re: Review: Scribblenauts: Showdown (Switch)

DragonbornRito

My brother picked this up and had me play a round of the board game mode with him. It was... okay. Not terrible, had some fun here and there and did make a huge comeback to win it with a nice string of minigame wins and a lucky card draw. But the whole time, I was like... surely this can't be it for $40. And it pretty much was it. The wordplay aspect wasn't even done very cleverly for most games, and the speed games are just arm-tiring wagglefests. I would play him again if he asked, but there's no way I'm spending $40 on this game when I could get Celeste, Night in the Woods, Crypt of the Necrodancer, and other much better games for half the price.

Re: Video: A Speedrunner Has Completed Super Mario World In Under A Minute

DragonbornRito

By far the most toxic comment section I've ever read on this site. And that's saying something.

A few people pointed out that this is in fact a "category" of speedrunning. To those people, I thank you. Just because this run involves intentionally breaking the exploitable parts of the game doesn't mean it's not a way to reach the credits. And it in fact is a process that requires extremely precise inputs from the player in as short a time as possible. Therefore, this method can be speedran.

Seriously, it's not like this guy is now ahead of anyone who runs this game, start to finish, the old fashioned way. This run is categorized into its own corner of the interwebs. This just means he's the fastest one to do it this way.

Even if this isn't the way you like to run games or see them ran, that still doesn't discount the achievements and performances by glitch% runners.

Re: Review: Celeste (Switch eShop)

DragonbornRito

@NewAdvent Ugh, too true... Probably be at least a month or two before I can squeeze enough into the budget to pick this game up. MH World today and DQ Builders in February are already slapping my wallet silly.

Re: Review: FIFA 18 (Switch)

DragonbornRito

@Angelic_Lapras_King Yep, I picked up FIFA 17 on Xbox One for like $25 last Black Friday at Walmart. Got the Switch version for now and will probably pick up either PS4 or Xbox One in November. Really depends on if anyone wants to play with me on those, because no one I know personally wants to play me on their Switch.

Re: Digital Foundry Comes Away Very Impressed With Skyrim On Switch

DragonbornRito

@GrailUK I'm gonna buy it for Switch and I already have 260+ hours on PC, another 100 or so on Xbox 360, and 20ish on PS3. No other game I've played in history is better for just losing myself in and relaxing. I just really enjoy being a part of the world of Skyrim, and now I'm literally going to be able to take that world with me anywhere I go. I cannot wait. Seriously, every day I wake up and don't see a release date is another day I sigh and hope for the next. This is the most news I've seen on it since E3, so it's something. But I want that date. Soon.

Re: The Overcooked: Special Edition Performance Patch Is Nearing Release

DragonbornRito

@getyourak It's a meme to call 30 FPS cinematic. Pretty sure an Ubisoft dev or something said that 30 FPS was a design choice because it was "more cinematic", when in truth it felt like they just didn't feel like optimizing their game to 60 FPS.

@MailOrderNinja They mostly occurred in the opening sequence for me. But there's some drops here and there in normal play. I played the Switch version that my brother picked up, then the next day I played my own Steam copy and the difference was night and day. Not only did the game look smoother, but it felt more responsive as well. The Switch version is perfectly playable, but the people who are okay with an inferior product on a platform that should easily be able to handle a fairly simple game need to stop bashing those of us who are displeased with the Switch's version. (Not saying you were one of the people doing the bashing.)

Re: Video: See the Big Difference Between Monster Hunter XX on Switch and 3DS

DragonbornRito

@Equinox On the contrary, for me Monster Hunter is a series that is quite easy to play with no knowledge of the language if you already know how to play going into it. Obviously a localization would be ideal, but it's pretty easy to figure out what to do on each hunt. Plus, Kiranico is a very useful resource for figuring out item names, quest objectives, and whatnot. This is the first game I'll ever be importing in which I don't know the language... yet, I'm not worried at all.

Re: Pokkén Tournament DX Confirmed For Nintendo Switch

DragonbornRito

People tell themselves it's going to be something then get ticked off when it's not what they thought it would be.

Gamers have really become entitled turds in the Information Age.

I want a main series game on Switch, but anyone that thought it was 100% going to happen this soon after the system's release is delusional.
