@Williaint #134 It's more to do with the actual series. I can't imagine somebody being serious when saying they're fascinated by a game that looks and plays the same as every previous entry before it.

If you were "genuinely enthralled” by NSMBU, i think it's clear to see you have a fanboy allegiance. There's really no point in denying that.

IMO, there are far too few games of any worth being released/incoming on WiiU, that it doesn't make much sense to own if you already have a 3ds. I'd rather wait for handheld ports than waste the shelf space with a WiiU.

Staying with a PS3 is the best option, for now.

Home console wise, i think the Wii taught most gamers that Nintendo aren't really interested in pursuing them as a target audience. Now that the casuals have moved on, this is the end result - nobody cares.

Time to stick with handhelds alone, since they can't/refuse to compete in the console space.

They can't live off their 3DS output forever you know. By diverting all their attention to making games for the WiiU, the 3DS will eventually suffer for it. There's no point making (much higher cost) games on the WiiU if they can't get worthwhile profit from it.

@darthmawl I doubt Nintendo are making much money with anything on the system really. Wii U could be discontinued soon if these terrible sales continue... that would mean no precious Zelda for you.

I get an overpowered feeling of deja vu whenever i try to play any Mario games, so i avoid them simply for that reason now. The IP needs a serious rest, imo.

The influence of modern Nintendo is pretty saddening. It's a pity IS were pushed to dumb it down in so many ways.

The biggest issue with Awakening for me was being allowed/forced to grind on those time wasting sub-maps. Ruined the experience towards the end. The dual-up and kid features were horrible too (you can, but the enemies can't?... BS). This is why it doesn't even come close to competing with the best in the series, which you can playthrough without encountering such pointless filler.

Only a PS4 for me. Buying one at some point during 2014.

Nintendo had a great chance to impress gamers with something, but all they could provide were mini-games and a remake, along with dire support from third parties... The only way i'd buy the WiiU now, is with a much needed management overhaul. One that could maybe bring the company to 2013 standards.

I feel like the system is already done for though (i speak for its status in the UK).

If (a feature gimped) Miiverse is the only thing these IDs are bringing to the table, i won't bother registering one for now.
Accounts are the main reason i ignore the crappy eShop, and demo were the only reason i ever had for entering it. Being blocked from those will kinda suck, but.... meh.

It's easy to believe Nintendo are so ridiculously inept, that they need to take “baby steps”. But this is false. Nintendo simply don't want their users having accounts. Up until this point, they've only said that cross-buy may be considered if developers demand it (not happening). Give up.

I fully agree with this. It's gotten really lame online seeing people using the same pokemon all the time, just cuz they're mega. I'm so used to battering the same few pokemon now that it's just boring. The only thing worse than the mega obsessed, are people who think they're clever by abusing the move 'Protect' (i value my time, so i disconnect whenever encountered).

Me too, but face it - Nintendo just don't have the resources to compete in the home console market anymore. Without decent support from third parties, how can they possibly sustain the system for years to come? The notable releases are way too few and far between.

They need to kill it off ASAP. Preferably, with Iwata gone.

Yeah, the usual? MK, Smash and Pokemon. Don't expect Nintendo to include online for any game on the WiiU unless it's a series that's sold massively before it.
