Re: Sega To Celebrate Sonic's 30th With New Games, Major Announcements And More

Doktor-Mandrake

@JohnnyC Weren't the only Sonic games on DC Adventure 1 and 2? They already got re-releases, same goes for mega drive sonic games they are already on PC, Switch, PS4, Xbox One ect. so I highly doubt it's going to be mega drive sonic games

It's most likely going to be a new game, like Mania 2 or something, nothing hints at it being nothign more then re-releases of old games

Re: Sega To Celebrate Sonic's 30th With New Games, Major Announcements And More

Doktor-Mandrake

@Toy_Link Like I get this is a Nintendo site but it's always the same whenever it's a sega article, this isn't the 90's anymore and they aren't rivals anymore

Yeah, Sega do a lot of dumb stuff but they do some good stuff too, I remember how awful people were saying the sonic movie was going to be on this site, and it actually turned out to be a pretty good film

In terms of Sonic games, Team Sonic have been lacking in making anything particularly that great but I can gurantee you that a sonic mania 2 would get people hyped, maybe not people on this particular site however

Re: It's Not Out Yet, But Super Mario 3D All-Stars Is Already 2020's Second Best-Selling Game On Amazon

Doktor-Mandrake

@Patendo "either order a copy or move on."

Thats all well and good, but if everyone had the same mentality you do, sonics design in the sonic movie would'nt of changed, mods wouldn't be a thing for GTAV PC version and many other things like that.

When I see posts like this, I'll just double down.. No, I won't "move on"... I WILL MAKE MY VOICE HEARD

If people want to waste money spending £50 on 3 old games that's up to them, I'm still going to voice my opinion that it's a huge rip off though, I'll be firmly keeping that money to spend on a NEW title.

Re: Get A Closer Look At Super Mario 3D All-Stars In This Nintendo Unboxing Video

Doktor-Mandrake

@korosanbo Plastic is far worse for the enviroment, where as paper is biodegradable

Another thing, is that servers (which Nintendo need for people to download games) also have an impact on the enviroment, and I have NEVER seen Nintendo ever show particular interest in causes for the enviroment so everytime I see this argument brought forward always comes off as grasping at straws a little bit

One could argue Nintendo were more "enviroment friendly" years ago, back when they used cardboard cases instead of plastic

Re: Get A Closer Look At Super Mario 3D All-Stars In This Nintendo Unboxing Video

Doktor-Mandrake

@tobsesta99 The thing is, the people complaining are NOT being disruptive in the slightest, they are simply sharing their own thoughts, their own disappointments

Consumers are well within their rights to do so, and despite what YOU might think, complaining can actually get consumers what they want in some situations.

Where as on the other hand, you have people getting upset on here that anyone dare say anything negative about a Nintendo product, they are the ones who need to shut up, because they are the ones being disruptive and childish.

Re: Get A Closer Look At Super Mario 3D All-Stars In This Nintendo Unboxing Video

Doktor-Mandrake

@Clyde_Radcliffe Really? Put it this way, how much do you think it cost Nintendo to port over these 3 games? They are charging as much as CD projekt red are for Cyberpunk 2077.

Do you think it cost Nintendo as much to port those 3 old games, as it has done for CD projekt to make Cyberpunk 2077?

Only reason they are charging so much is to take advantage of our love for Mario, the physical edition doesn't even come with extra goodies and they've made it limited edition to give their consumers the feeling to rush out and buy a copy ASAP while they can.

It's crappy buisness practise imo, I'd love to have a physical copy but not for that price and fact theyre "limited" is even more disappointing and will be a scalpers wet dream

Re: Random: Finally, Sonic The Hedgehog Spins Onto The Super Nintendo

Doktor-Mandrake

@Averagewriter Beyond Oasis, Phantasy Star III, Phantasy Star IV, Monster World IV, Landstalker, Thunder Force 3, Shinobi, Sonic the Hedgehog 1,2,3, Alex Kidd in Miracle World, Dynamite Heddy, Gunstar Heroes, Streets of Rage 2, ToeJam & Earl, Comix Zone, Altered Beast, Golden Axe, Desert Strike, Rocket Knight Adventures, Michael Jackson’s Moonwalker, Columns III.. and more?

Not sure what point you were trying to prove, both consoles had a great library

Re: Random: Finally, Sonic The Hedgehog Spins Onto The Super Nintendo

Doktor-Mandrake

@UmbreonsPapa You have to remember the article writers on this site do tend to come from the UK.. And over here in the UK Sega was much more dominant here than Nintendo, probably a large part of that was Nintendo stuff is expensive

Thus a lot of these article writers probably would have fond memories of Sega anyway, I was born in 1990 so we were already entering the 3d console era by the time I started seriously getting into gaming

But the Sega Mega Drive was still the first thing I can remember playing, and it was because in the UK basically everyone had one, and it was less common for someone to have a Nintendo console, some did but nothing compared to Sega MD where everyone their neighbors and their friends would have one

Sega had a very big presence here, more so then nintendo

Re: You Can Now Pre-Order The Amazing SEGA Astro City Mini

Doktor-Mandrake

@Nomad Yeah it's pricey for sure, but hearing it has micro switched joystick and stuff sounds so much better than what SNK did with the neo geo mini, but it's going to depend a lot on what other games are going to be included too

Doubt I'll buy one despite it being tempting, the 5 mini consoles I have atm only get the rare occasional use as it is, in a way it'd be interesting to see sega do something like capcom did with their home arcade that includes fully sized joystick and buttons with up to 2 player support, maybe add some USB ports and allow race wheel support as well and include their racing games would be amazing, and include controller support for those without wheels

I hope it reaches the west as well, japan can keep the game gear micro but this certaintly has better prospects, although I do wonder if the "mini" console phase is starting to die out a little now though

Sorry if I come across a little ranty, sega can make some questionable decisions but I think this is a step in the right direction, a lot more then the game gear micro anyway lol especially if it will include a lot of rare games that either didnt get home release or never got a western release

Re: You Can Now Pre-Order The Amazing SEGA Astro City Mini

Doktor-Mandrake

@Nomad Yeah good thing nintendo have never done the same thing and released mini consoles before......oh wait

Though it probably goes over most peoples heads here anyway when I see some comment on how it looks as well.. It's meant to be for people who remember the arcades and are nostalgic for them.. You may not be but that doesn't mean others aren't especially when some sega arcade games never got home releases!

Sorry for coming off ranty, it just seems like you dont understand that Sega dominated the arcades back in the day, the prospect of them revisiting their old arcade games is not a bad thing

Re: What Comes After Switch? Nintendo Discusses Plans For Future Game Consoles

Doktor-Mandrake

@SwitchVogel Like others have said I completely agree

Sadly for myself the latest big titles haven't been to my personal taste, like Animal Crossing, Sword and Shield ect.. Last title I bought was Luigi's Mansion 3, and the next big release Paper Mario isn't my cup of tea either so I've not had much to get excited about

Personally keep hoping we'll see a new Starfox game and it'll be really good like the 64 days but probably wishful thinking on my part, if they can give us a new Starfox game, Super Mario Land remakes, Wario Land remakes, a new Wario World, a new F-zero and stuff like that.. I'd be super happy

Re: Sega's New Astro City Micro-Console Is Packed With 36 Arcade Gems

Doktor-Mandrake

@Damo "I don't think we'll ever see an official re-release of Moonwalker, ever – which is a shame, and another reason for supporting the work of people who preserve these forgotten gems which will never be available elsewhere, legally or otherwise."

Exactly right, a lot of classics might get repackaged often from the likes of Nintendo and Sega but there's a lot of IPs that would get lost in history if not for peoples efforts to preserve such masterpeices!

Re: id Software Will Share The Release Date Of DOOM Eternal For Switch "Pretty Soon"

Doktor-Mandrake

@robr Not sure I really understand your comparison here

Doom 1 and Doom 2 aren't that different, all it really did was add an SSG and make things like the Cybie a common enemy instead of a boss, the new mechanics added in Eternal aren't in Doom 2 and it's a drastically different game, but it does have a lot more fan service then Doom 2016, mancubus looked like how he should, so did zombies with green hair, the imps, the tyrant (aka the real cybie).. In terms of its gameplay I think it's more comparable to Quake combined with Doom, it also reminds me of how back when people didnt use Mouse on Doom 1 and 2 back in the day, id software said they thought it'd be too complex for people to grasp but then Quake happened and changed everything

Similair thing here, it's just the next evolution/formula for an id software title.. For me Doom 2016 felt more like a typical arcadey type shooter replicating Doom then actually being Doom, Eternal feels like it IS an actual id software game from back in the day

Re: id Software Will Share The Release Date Of DOOM Eternal For Switch "Pretty Soon"

Doktor-Mandrake

@Medic_Alert "add very little"

have to disagree there, the new mechanics allow the enemies to be more aggressive and it also raises the skill ceiling

Doom 2016 was very easy to cheese for the more hardcore fans of these sort of games, take for example the RL that you could just spam like no tomorrow, in Eternal the RL fires slow and does a ton of player damage, like it did in the original

Doom 2016 was made to appeal to the masses but Eternal made to appeal to long time fans of this genre, imo.. It has a way higher skill ceiling

Couldn't picture myself playing something like Eternal on a controller tho with all the added mechanics, wouldn't be able to fly around the map as much as I do now on kb/m

Re: Nintendo's Mobile Business Is Here To Stay

Doktor-Mandrake

@RadioHedgeFund Those "cartridges" are flash memory, basically the equivelent of an SDcard or an SSD.

Just wanted to throw that out there because you said "most popular console uses cartridges instead of discs" but the technology used for switch carts are far more modern then disc-based content

This is why the Series X and PS5 are going to use SSD instead of HDD, it's all about flash storage nowadays, but yeah it is funny how it's sort of come full circle I guess.

Also I'd argue just because the tech is improving doesn't mean games will, a lot of games I play on my PC are monotised to heck, then look at things like the new MK where the female characters were toned down to not cause offence, imagine trying to make a modern day Duke Nukem in 2020

Then there's the argument that everything is generic these days, it's very expensive to make an AAA game so that's why 99% of them don't bother trying to make a unquie and innovative game, and instead make battle royale or something because they know it will sell.. There's far more creativity in Indie and AA these days then there is AAA

Re: Nintendo's Mobile Business Is Here To Stay

Doktor-Mandrake

I just hope they don't start implementing loads of MTX into every game they make on their main platform, the Switch

Nintendo are one of the few AAA game makers left that don't ruin their games with modern buisness practises, stuff like Mario Oddysey I could just BUY and then have the full experience

Sure things like MK8 and Smash have DLC but Nintendo have always offered better value for money then a lot of other companies do these days with the way they monitise their AAA games

Re: The Super Mario 64 PC Port Just Got A 60fps Patch

Doktor-Mandrake

Also, no one going to mention how they adjusted ALL the games animations for the 60fps gameplay? That's quite impressive

If it's one thing I remember on my n64 as a kid, was FPS drops..

There's a certain build of 1964, built for PD and GE that lets you run both games at 60fps, and even includes kb/m support and ultra widescreen, MSAA ect... Perfect Dark is one of my fav games of all time so it's my preferred way of playing PD nowadays over booting up my n64

Re: The Super Mario 64 PC Port Just Got A 60fps Patch

Doktor-Mandrake

For those that we all know are going to be angry in the comments section

-PC has been able to play SM64 for a long, long time.. Sure it might be more "plug and play" now but none the less

-It's an old game, it won't eat into Nintendos profits, so calm the hell down people!
