There is no point in getting this. Super Smash Bros. is way to basic compared to Melee and Brawl and you can easily find better things to get for 1000 Wii Points
You could theoretically say that about most games on the VC
Also, if you found it easy, you should check what difficulty you had it on. Set it to team brawl, set 3 CPUs to, say, red, and set yourself to blue. Set all the cpus lvls to "9", turn the damage ratio to "2.0" and try to win
Nah, computers are boring, and beating them doesn't give me satisfaction why would losing to them? Also its easy because the fighting mechanics lack depth. Trophies and stickers just artificially increase play time, they're nice but don't add much. A story mode that took way more development time than it was worth, and it shows. And it was specifically developed to be uncompetitive (it's developer didn't even want it to be the best it could be).
Brawl is: slow, floaty, unbalanced, has lots of terrible stages, lots of terrible items, easy, lacks combos, and defense is usually a much more viable strategy than offense.
Melee: has more depth, only a few bad stages, less bad items, it's fast, has combos, more balanced than Brawl; the Classic, Target Test, Adventure, and Event Match modes were better than brawl's too.
SSB: best items, the worst stages were tolerable, the best combo's (although most characters had 0-to-deaths, but powerful offense is more fun than slower defensive battles), but it lacks some depth too.
I'd say SSB is the easiest to get into since it's easier than Melee, and more rewarding than Brawl
@ Ness Outside of battles SMRPG is tolerable and actually enjoyable at times, but it doesn't come close to making SMRPG a great, or even good game, I'd say it's fairly averagish and I'd give it a 6/10
@Ness SMRPG is so typical RPG, if you time your attacks and not magic or defence, it plays exactly like any other turn based RPG, except a lot slower, and with mostly ugly bad guys.
I love Paper Mario because it has lots valuable differences compared to other turn-based RPG's.
@Ness I don't like SMRPG because the gameplay is an abomintation, other than the battles it's okay, I'd give it maybe a 6, like Mickey said he dropped out after the first major boss, the combat gets boring a bit before then. And every RPG I've played is better than SMRPG by a lot.
My top 10 RPGs. 1. Pokemon Gold 2. Dragon Warrior 3 (GBC) 3. Chrono Trigger (although I haven't played it all the way through yet) 4. Dragon Warrior Monsters 5. Paper Mario 6. Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones 7. Tales of Symphonia 8. Final Fantasy 4 Advance 9. Breath of Fire 2 10. Final Fantasy: Dawn of Souls (FF2 specifically)
I don't own a PS so the only PS RPG I own is FFVIII, fun but didn't hook me and I never got too far
Joker is great, but isn't magical like the first one (never played numbuh 2) I loved my Blizzardy, Kingleo and Ironturt , too bad Ironturt took way too much time and effort to become a beast.
I only ever played Tales of Symphonia, and honestly I don't even consider it an RPG, it feels more like an action game with obnoxiously long cutscenes about a story I could care less about - basically it's Final Fantasy, only with the battle scenes replaced with a fun action game. Now all they have to do is remove the rest of it, and you would have my definition of a great Final Fantasy game. I love it! That's how you state your opinion. The overly sarcastic and obnoxious atttitude, powerful.
But you don't like the main DQ games? . And permadeath is cool since it makes it unique and you can just start the chapter over, it's not like it autosaves whenever someone dies, that'd be evil.
@Hilanderous This game has not aged very well at all. Have any of you played it recently? It's just terrible and with Melee and Brawl being more updates then sequels, there is no reason to ever play this game again.
Yeah I played it yesterday, it rocked HARD. It's faster than brawl, you can combo, it's more accessable than Melee, there arn't uber characters that destroy the rest of the cast with ease. Brawl was more or a Wiidate (i.e. better graphics much less depth)
Maybe they'll make this sequel month and we'll get Earthbound and Majora's Mask (2nd N64 Zelda it totally counts). Add in some totally random and unlikely games like Dragon Quest 2 and the 2nd N64 Castlevania and we're set
Waaah all we got was Boogerman, this suuuuucks. Nintendo gives us a bunch of good games in September and October, and now we get this, I hate Nintedo 4eva Im srs guys. This game is probably better than SMRPG, which almost everyone wanted but since Boogeman isn't named Mario, I will cry while proceeding to consider downloading it just to see how it is, and test my hunch that it is better than SMRPG
_And I don't see WiiWare getting a good RPG. Either it'll have a lot of content, and will take up half of the Wii's internal memory, or it'll be stripped of everything that makes RPGs good so it won't take up too much memory. Actually, making an RPG for WiiWare is a terrible idea. You're basically saying it's not good enough to be released as a retail game, so you'll strip it of EVERYTHING and sell it to Wii owners.
Make a 16-bit RPG and there won't be space constraints. If an RPG is developed specifically with Wiiware in mind by a good developer, it'll likely be pretty good.
_This game WILL suck. Mark my words.
I think so too. The animation looked fairly poor, but that may just be due to early being incomplete.
I'm a huge Fire Emblem fan, but I wasn't impressed by the first Shining Force (yeah, I know they're very similar). My question is thus: I've heard many people say that the sequel is vastly superior, so in your professional opinion(s), should I buy it?
/ that also since Mario Golf came out Mario Tennis shouldn't take too long to come out and Mario Tennis is fantastic, bummer about the GBC transfer characters though.
What the ** are you on about Badknux? "except for a few titles that are really memorable." Only A FEW titles that are really memorable? HA HA HA! Thanks for that! I needed a laugh on this miserable morning ! Feel free to voice some of your opinions again tomorrow morning as well, because I might just want a good chuckle again ! Please don't develop yourself a decent knowledge of retro gaming, if you do that I wouldn't have anyone to cheer me up in the morning! HA HA HA!
That was unneccesarily condescending, did you really feel a whole paragraph of laughing at his post really worth making, especially when you don't even have a point to make.

Re: Shining Force
if you do love Fire Emblem, than you will love Shining Force as well. Recommended!
I love Fire Emblem, I don't love this, it's fairly good but lacking compared to recent FEs (it's not its fault though since this is old)
It's just kind of slow, and strategy isn't really required.

Re: USA VC Update: Castlevania III
I can't wait to try it I already beat the first Castlevania today, so only Simon's Quest stands between me and this
Re: USA VC Update: Castlevania III
W00T Castlevania 3, I think I'll pick up one of the GnG's and maybe the other 2 NES Castlevanias aswell
Re: Kirby's Dream Land 3
But getting hit doesn't always knock away your power in any Kirby game (that I know of), it usually takes 2 or 3 hits
_every other Kirby game I've played, I enjoyed (yes, even Kirby 64). _
Your not allowed to talk about The Crystal Shards that way, it was awesome
Re: Super Smash Bros.
Melee had deep, but difficult mechanics I guess it sucked because I suck at it...

Re: Virtual Console Reviews - Best of 2008
If it wasn't Mario, it wouldn't be rated nearly as well, and I'm positive about that.
And I'm guessing EB will be like DQ, just with worse gamplay but a better story.
Re: Semnat Studios Interview - Eduardo the Samurai Toaster
Nice interview the game looks interesting.

Objection! @Objection
LoZ:MM is a masterpiece, and as such should be given to the masses sooner rather then later, EB can wait it's good at that.
Re: Virtual Console Reviews - Best of 2008
I bought DoReMi

Re: Virtual Console Reviews - Best of 2008
Enix is the bestest. Dragon Warrior 3 (GBA) pretty much perfection, way better than Dragon Warrior Monsters which was also beyond phenomenal.

Re: Virtual Console Reviews - Best of 2008
lol at Final Fantasy's and Tales being better than SMRPG but DQ, FE, and CT aren't.
Now I'll get serious (inb4whysoserious) and say that SMRPG is probably(keyword) the worst RPG I've ever played.
I have 2 of those games on the list, I'll get 2 more eventually, and might pick up Star Parodier sometime anyways.
Re: Virtual Console Reviews - Best of 2008
Kojima and Sakurai are close friends, Kojima wanted Snake in Melee, but Melee was already to far in develpment, so he's stuck in Brawl.
And SMRPG just has outright TERRIBLE gameplay, outside of battles its tolerable, but once battle begins the snoring ensues shortly after.
I can give a negative about DoReMi, it wasn't translated (which doesn't really matter much since it's a platformer, but it's still a negative )
Sonic has poor gameplay, after the first two zones of most of them it becomes a run for 10 seconds then hit an enemy/spike/wall and repeat
Re: Virtual Console Reviews - Best of 2008
Boo, SMRPG is lame:(
If SMRPG got first Boogerman should've got 2nd since it comes close to SMRPGs mediocrity.
Re: Japanese Virtual Console list - January 2009
It'd be sick the made Smash Bros for WW and just added online, but since that won't happen and I already have SSB, I'll pass.
But yeah anyone else that hasn't played it should most definately get it
Re: USA WiiWare Update: Tiki Towers & Fun! Fun! Minigolf
Yeah I wanted Niki Rolly-Thingy too

Mario swings on vines in Mario Party 3
Re: USA VC Update: Boogerman
I downloaded it and seriously I'd say SMRPG barely edges it out, I'd give this 6/10, and SMRPG 6.5/10, this has better gameplay though.

We had to get these sometime, and we've had great games over the last month so no big deal, and Gradius is supposed to be good.

Fake man might be fun. Hard will be too hard though.
Re: ESWAT: City Under Siege
Looks pretty fun.

That. I f it was the same game just a full price retail title its score would be lower.
Re: Fake Man Content Pack Coming To WiiWare Next Week?
Sounds cool, I might buy it if I have spare points
Re: EU VC Releases: Mayhem in Monsterland and More
Sorry you guys didn't get Secret of Mana, but Mayhem in Monsterland looks pretty cool

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!
I didn't think SoM would be out so soon.
Re: Studio Walljump Interview: Liight
