As you can see in the video, this looks more like a retail release than what we've seen from the WiiWare service so far. This could be just the RPG experience the WiiWare service has been desperately needing.
We'll keep you posted on any further developments with Sorcery Blade as they become available. Until then, take a look at the game play video below for a taste of what Sorcery Blade has to offer.

looks great could be the best wiiware game.... if done correctly
cool, nice looking rpg,AND its on WiiWare
Looks good, but it will probably be too short.
I'm ready for a shorter RPG. These 70+ hour epics are getting to be too much with my strict time constraints nowadays. I still haven't been able to finish Tales of Vesperia.
70 hours? What games are you playing?
And I don't see WiiWare getting a good RPG.
Either it'll have a lot of content, and will take up half of the Wii's internal memory, or it'll be stripped of everything that makes RPGs good so it won't take up too much memory.
Actually, making an RPG for WiiWare is a terrible idea. You're basically saying it's not good enough to be released as a retail game, so you'll strip it of EVERYTHING and sell it to Wii owners.
This game WILL suck. Mark my words.
@AlexSays
My thoughts exactly. Due to the memory constraints of the Wii this one will be hard to keep good while in the 40MB limit
70 hours? What games are you playing?
I was exaggerating to make a point. But in truth, most of these RPGs take me a lot longer than 70 hours to finish with the constant interruptions. I rarely get to sit down for more than an hour at a time, and that's on a good day.
Oh and in truth, I'll be surprised if this game even sees the light of day outside of Japan anyway.
As I have said time and time again, I find RPG's boring, so won't be getting this. I do think that 70 hours is slightly OTT though, with the game I've played most (at least on my Wii) being Smash Bros for 50-odd hours, followed by 40 hours on Mario Galaxy. The game I've played on most though has to be Tetris on my phone - although when the bloody thing broke (don't buy Motorola, people) I lost the game and my epic high score and I haven't had the money to replace it yet (my budget is that tight - thankfully I found a Picross clone for a quid instead), but since I'm lucky enough to have exactly 1200 points on my Wii at the moment, my need for Tetris will be fulfilled this Friday morning...
Where were we again...? Oh yeah: RPG's = yawn.
Update: Fair enough, Corbs. I also understand your pain of not being able to play games for more than an hour at a time as well - with my recent Lost DVD-fest taking up all my spare time. Now I'm just watching endless reruns of The A Team and... (tries to avoid another long ramble) some other stuff. Kthxbi
Looks like a slightly worse version of a Final Fantasy game. Might get it though.
im not the biggest rpg fan really, but i think this looks interesting to be honest and will defintley keep an eye on it although i would be suprised if this was released outside japan but you never know.
I really hope this comes to WiiWare, especially in North America. I'll be very disappointed if it doesn't.

If they made it like N64, this might fit!
Not made by Square-Enix, not interested...
jk, this game looks amazing...
And to the 70 hour comment, you ever play Disgaea?
Im not a rpg fan, i get bored to easily. Any game that is extremly long i get bored of unless it keeps getting newer and newer, i couldnt finish twilight princess
Anyways, it still looks interesting, but i probaly wont get it IF it comes to north america
@ 9. Boringman54
Come now, are there really any RPGs better than Final Fantasy? Okay, there probably are, and you don't sound like you hold the series in high regard. But whether you like FF or not, you gotta admit, FF is one of the greats out there, so this game only being "slightly worse" would be impressive.
However, I'd like to make a prediction. Score of 3/10. Nobody was able to create a good N64 RPG, except for Intelligent Systems. And if this is going to have N64 cartridge-like memory constraints, I do not have high hopes. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see it localized. WiiWare could use a real RPG on the service. But there's a reason more RPGs wound up on the PlayStation.
I'm interested by this game mainly because it should be shorter than the standard RPG nowadays. I'm so sick of these RPG's that keep dragging on and on with useless content, just tell me the ending, dang it!
Gyagh, that game looks so BLAND. I know graphics shouldn't be that big a deal, but... ugh. They could have at least tried to make it look different from other RPGs out there. Doesn't look like the game-play is pushing any limits, either, but I can't be sure of that for now. So, until then, I remain as doubtful of this game as ever.
This looks like a potential instant buy... Not that I really need it, I've got enough RPG's to last me atleast 3-4 years if I started playing immediately but it does look pretty nice and I do wanna support the initiative cause I do like my J-RPGs.
I think Sorcery Blade looks like a beautiful game! The graphics and character art are SUPERB, and MOST EXCELLENT!!!
Yes, it will be one STELLAR RPG so far for WiiWare!!
Party on Dudes!!!
Most bodacious dudes!!
I think the graphics look fine and the gameplay could be good. As for length-I expect around 1/2-1hr of gameplay per dollar spent (at full price) for my RPGs. Any word on a release date (For any region?)
@Objection_Blaster - It says on Kemco's website that it's coming in 2008 for Japan, but I think that's about it for now.
Okay this game looks too good not to come to America.
Looks pretty lame to me...
Just finnaly finishing watching the video & I think i might just muy as its got a nice cat as an ally & i love cats .

Make a 16-bit RPG and there won't be space constraints. If an RPG is developed specifically with Wiiware in mind by a good developer, it'll likely be pretty good.
_This game WILL suck. Mark my words.
I think so too. The animation looked fairly poor, but that may just be due to early being incomplete.
Edit: What am I doing wrong with the italics?
Wow, such a harsh crowd. While I must admit I can't see this game achieving too many rave reviews, I wouldn't write it off. Just because it is on WiiWare and has a 40MB limit doesn't quite mean it shall be stripped of everything that makes a good RPG. True, the game might be a little simplistic, but with some right gameplay elements, the game can still be fun.
Come on guys. They're trying to fit a 3D RPG into 43Mb of storage. The graphics are going to look N64-like in terms of poly-count and animation. We can either have the quality or quantity (variety) when it comes to visuals - but not both. Plus, it's an early video of an RPG - since when has any video of an RPG inspired someone to buy it? Surely only sad people get excited about video footage of RPGs
Outside of looking pretty, FFCC:MLaaK wasn't that great. It was slow, boring and in all honesty those pretty visuals pretty much looked all the same. In fact I'd go so far as to say that it's nothing more than a money-grabbing whore of a game, but people rate it well non-the-less.
As for this game, I'm going to wait a little longer before passing judgment - hell, we might even be pleasantly surprised with the end product.
Finally an RPG for WiiWare. Hurray! Why should a good RPG not fit into the 40MB limit? This is huge if used sparingly. Paper Mario also fits into the internal memory and isn't that good? Or what? I think Sorcery Blade looks at least promising. It's one of the few WiiWare games, that I'm currently interested in.
Well this gen hasn't exactly been huge for RPGs on any format, so any decent entry gets my vote...
Yay, a sort of decent looking RPG for Wiiware
What? One monster can attack another by accident?
By the way, I like that black dinosaur...
(I would probably donload this...)
P.S. Do you notice that the protagonist is female, while the mayority of video-game protagonists are male?
I'll think about it before I get this. I'm turned off by the N64-quality graphics, but Kemco just might pull off a decent Wiiware RPG.
People are really thinking this looks good? It looks like an N64 title to me. I think I can hold off on this one.
Those sure are some amazing N64 graphics then...I haven't seen such detail since the Gamecube!
The 3D objects look somewhat wrinkled at the edges. A bit like on the N64. But for this one you would probably need an Expansion Pack. And I think it is not bad if a WiiWare game looks like an N64 title. I prefer simplified graphic, when there is more variety and fun to the game. Sure, they could have used the whole 40MB memory for better graphics but how much would be left for the actual game? I mean, if one thinks about WiiWare, it should not be primarily graphics which is in the focus. Games like Mega Man have already proven, that the graphics don't need to be stunning. And since we just mention the N64: I want more N64 games on the Virtual Console. Where is Perfect Dark, Shadowman, Banjo or Conker?
