@MrPinguy First the graphics are not that nice, FFIII DS actually changed the look and perspective. This one keeps the same perspective, and doesn't change the enemies much, so they look almost the same just 3D.
FFIVA had awesome additional content, being able to use everyone at the end was awesome, as was the added dungeon. Yes there was some glitchiness it was bothersome but nothing major. I don't know about the additional content on this, but as far as I know it isn't near as good.
Finally the added difficulty, I was liking it up until the moon (where I stopped playing) but having 3 mages on the team, and only one of which can consistently survive a physical attack from random eu/prokaryotes. I'm not a fan of having to heal, after every single battle.
Except Nintendo was in their prime during the N64 days, during the SNES they were pretty hot, but everyone knows SM64 beats World, and OoT beats ALttP (so does MM, LA, OoS, and OoA, but I digress) just some people will lie and say they aren't
The PSP has better retail games than the Wii. The DS is better though. DSi isn't since it's a stopgap, that's trying to mimic the PSP somewhat, and likely won't bring much new to the table.
Also NSMB is over-rated its over pretty quick, and the frail difficulty doesn't help extend the game.
I'd give it an 8, style over substance, Mario 64 was so much more fun, the total linearity kills the exploration and doesn't allow for any creativity to take shortcuts and such.
Dawn of Souls version is nice, yes it may have enemies that are pretty much millionaires, that beg you to kill them, but it's still got the charm. Although I guess I would enjoy it more if it wasn't walk around pressing A.
@Mickey You don't have to go fast at all, you can slow down time, just spend a few days chilling, whatever you want. You have plenty of time to do all sorts of things. If you don't want to rush, the possibility of having to pretty much restart a dungeon exists, but that's a lot like just regularly entering a dungeon, and leaving to come back later in other games.
The ime system is this games biggest draw, so unfortunately if that's not your thing, it'll lose a lot of it's shine.
Ocarina is better though, this one is slightly more fun, but Ocarina is far longer, with better dungeons. (Since this doesn't have many, and the water one sucks) But still this is basically the best game not on the VC yet.
I'm a Fire Emblem fanboy because I don't think it's a faceless anime? When it isn't at all. Sure the stories are standard, and you don't like that, you only like the crappy Sonic ones. I argue your idiotic comment and you call me a fanboy, I'm not praising FE, like you're praising that dopey hedgehog, I've yet to call you a fanboy (as of this line) but you most definitely are one. Maybe if a flaw in FE was presented it would be discussed, standard stories is done.
Claiming Sonic is great at something it doesn't do well at all, and then when people say it isn't you ignore it, then just dumbly criticize something else. Has Sonic ever delivered a good story, much less both a good story and good gameplay (which it rarely delivers as well)?
We know you hate silent protagonists, you don't need to rant on them. Link doesn't need to speak. They don't want to make him speak, who cares if you don't like it, others do. If you hate it so much, don't play Zelda since it obviously doesn't cater to your interests, there are hundreds of characters out there that do talk. And the interconnecting storylines thing from way back is dumb too, why waste time creating, and developing some silly way to make all the games somehow connected, if the games are made to standalone that should be enough, because how many sequels with whack stories do we need? The Tales series isn't interconnected, hurry go bash it!
DSi just become worth something, although I'm pretty set with my GB/C and GBA collection, and I doubt it would get Dragon Warrior I&II or Dragon Warrior Monsters 2 for a long time.
Ugh. because I don't care about a story in a freaking platform game, I don't like stories...
Personally I'd rather not have a story than a stupid, tacked-on, rush-job of a story. Calling Fire Emblem a faceless anime is either ignorant or idiotic (although it's some of both if it's ignorant). Sonic's characters don't hold a candle to most FE characters, or even the average RPG character. Lots of Sonic characters don't have a distinct look, and none are interesting."Hi I'm Sonic, I go fast!" "Hi I'm Amy, I stock Sonic, that's about it"
But I suppose you're right, I guess I like lazy storytelling (this is sarcasm, for those that don't know), and you like lazy gameplay. "Look at me, I'm playing Sonic, I can hold the d-pad/analog stick in one direction, and occasionally jump!"
Link can stay silent, there's nothing wrong with a silent protagonist, but I suppose you are opposed to role-playing (or just too lazy) so you criticize it because, they didn't make dialogue for you.
I can agree with the Wii lack of selection though.
Because instead of making a Sonic game that plays well, they should focus on stupid new characters, shallow storylines and characters, and an unneeded timeline...
Fire Emblem does the things you complimented about Sonic several times better, and is actually fun to play.
Wow, because if something doesn't talk it automatically loses... Gameplay is what's important.
And how does Sonic have creative characters? Oh look a bunch of different coloured hedgehogs, and other characters based on animals... By that logic Pokemon has 493 colourful and creative characters, +alternate forms, +the trainers

Re: Dragon Warrior Monsters
This game was beyond phenomenal.
Re: Game Play Trailer - Bomberman 2 DS
Looks good.
@stuff
Bomberman 64 and Hero had good 1-P modes.
Course Hero didn't have multiplayer, but 64 had awesome multiplayer.
Re: Virtua Tennis 2009 - Better than t'real thing?
The paragraph before the movie led me to believe this looked amazing.
It doesn't.
I don't need another tennis game Mario Tennis (64) has me covered, the GBC version was pretty sweet too.
Re: Review: Conker's Bad Fur Day (N64)
I need to get this, the mulitplayer is great, I haven't played single player though.

Re: Review: Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards (N64)
@Ferret
Alright Miracle Matter is isn't a pushover, but it still isn't hard, everything else though is pretty feeble.
Agreed KS8, this is my favourite Kirby as well.
Re: Review: Star Fox 64 (N64)
Just about the epitome of gameplay in this one.
Re: Dragon Quest IX: Defenders of the Sky
I love Dragon Quest
Re: Nintendo Download: 14 April 2009 (Japan)
Der Langrisser!!! I want it, I hear it's amazing!
Re: Review: Final Fantasy IV (DS)
The earlier versions were better.

Re: The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
Now we just have to see if April 6 will be the best day of the year in NA
Re: South Korean President feeling sad about DS Piracy
 wowie that's startling!
Re: Review: Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue Team (DS)
Except these Mystery Dungeon games are solid, better than that snail-paced Diamond, although apparently Platinum doesn't suck.
And I thought the Ranger games had fairly solid reviews?
Re: Review: The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker (GCN)
Stupid sailing, so far I'd give it around 7.5 (I'm at the Earth Temple).
Without sailing it would probably be a 9.
Re: Review: Super Mario Galaxy (Wii)
I'd give it an 8, style over substance, Mario 64 was so much more fun, the total linearity kills the exploration and doesn't allow for any creativity to take shortcuts and such.
Re: Review: Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue Team (DS)
I have Red Rescue Team on the GBA, some great dungeon crawling in that one, its got mileage.
Re: Review: The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask (N64)
Good stuff.
Oh and I think OoT is better, but this is better in a lot of ways, so they're both really close.
Re: Review: Kirby Squeak Squad (DS)
Squeak Squad was cool, I probably like it more than SSU, since this is short and awesome. SSU is just meduim length and sweet.
Re: Explodemon Coming to WiiWare
Judging by a lot of these comments, pretty explosions are almost as effective for core gamers, as minigames are for grannies and small children.
Re: Euro Update: DSiWare Launch Games and Majora's Mask
Let's go Nintendo, give us Majora's Mask now! Also conragtz Euroskis
Re: Explodemon Coming to WiiWare
It didn't really look like anything special.
Re: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
I don't get ALttP, its not even the best 2D Zelda.
Re: US DSiWare "Launch" Titles Confirmed
Not bad but it's a small launch for DSi. Almost as small as the launches for N64 and GCN
Except Super Mario 64 was pretty much the best game at that time
Re: Review: Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo's Dungeon (Wii)
Dungeon crawling is awesome, I'll probably get it if I can find it cheap.
BTW anyone that's played this and the 2nd set of Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games, which one is better?
Re: April Fool Jokes – The Dust Settles
I can't see why anyone would get worked up by putting train skins on Spirit Tracks.
Re: Final Fantasy

Re: Interview with Brian Fehdrau - Secret of Evermore
I want this, you can milk FFI, and FFIV some more Square, just give us your games that haven't been played by everyone.

@Mickey

Re: Review: SNK Arcade Classics Vol. 1 (Wii)
I haven't bought a Wii game since this, I dunno if I'll buy one before the next SNK Arcade Collection (if there is one)
Re: Review: Dokapon Kingdom (Wii)
This was pretty fun I'd go with a 7.
Re: Welcome to the New Look Nintendo Life!
Aww, the VC-R aesthetic was so much better cries
Re: USA VC Update: Super Punch-Out!!
I don't care about PunchOut but atleast others like it.
Re: Kimi to Boku to Ritai Coming To US WiiWare
There are other pictures in the previous threads about the game. And PALgamer has also found links to some videos that are posted there.
Oh, I just came to this article directly so I never saw the previous articles.
Re: Kimi to Boku to Ritai Coming To US WiiWare
Looks ok? Can't really say much since there's only one obscure screenshot.
Re: Japanese Virtual Console list - April 2009
Secondly, i don't know if you know this but they did try to remake A Link To The Past, on the GBA.
That was a port. They didn't really change anything.
Re: Japanese Virtual Console list - April 2009
@above
The game will be just as good on the VC as it is on the N64, plus you can play it with controllers without frail control sticks.
Re: Japanese Virtual Console list - April 2009
I want the 2nd best Zelda! I haven't played it in a few years
Re: Final Fantasy IV: The After Years
Looks perrty cool.
Re: Namco Announces Upcoming Arcade Games
Not arcade, but Namco needs to give us some Tales of Phantasia, pretty plz Namco, it's been translated.
Re: SD Card Game Launching + Arcade Games Available on VC Now!
They play directly from the card, a 4gb card has 31000+ blocks, you don't need Wii memory to play them from the card.
Re: SD Card Game Launching + Arcade Games Available on VC Now!
Sweet update! Purchased a 4gb SD card an hour ago

Corbie what's changed since '93?

Re: Review: Kirby's Adventure (NES)
How can you find Kirby average, but like Sonic?
Mario wrote the book, Kirby is a children's book difficulty wise, and Sonic probably can't spell book.
Re: Brand New Harvest Moon Series: Ranch Store Screenshots
I'm not a fan of the huge white outlines, they might as well write "paper" on them too.
Are stupid titles "in" these days?
It looks nice though, minus the borders.
