Re: Nintendo's Patent On 'Sub Characters' Could Have Some Dire Ramifications

DDStuff

I believe Nintendo, who keeps winning patents and the like for years, their ego has got the better of them as of late (they are thinking small here). Nintendo needs to learn to be humble... Not try to nuke everything in gaming.

They need to make a better Pokemon game and not rest on their hands because of Palworld. Because this patent is nuts.

Re: Nintendo Partners With Samsung To Produce Main Chips For Switch 2

DDStuff

As far as I know, there are no OLED screens that are 120hz with VRR. If Samsung wants to be the first to make it. Go do it. I don't think the cost will be worth it at the start. So maybe in 4 or so years it will happen.

Edit: I have to note that yes, they do have this tech (Don't know why I said what I said earlier)... But it is not affordable enough for the average person.

Re: "We MUST Resist Buying These Game-Key Releases", Says GamesMaster Host

DDStuff

The only way I will part with physical is if they use NFT tech at the Government level for ownership. Then at a later date sell that copy to someone who wants it. The Digital Card is not something I want to go about if support for it drops and I am not risking it in the long term.

@Batfan2425 - Yes, but the data for the game is still on the disc. I own quite a few XBox One games that have this. The game key card does not contain data, but a key to download. So the data is not local like the Xbox One discs have. And to be honest, I am Okay as long as the data is stored on the disc as an install. Switch 2 game key cards are not something I will support because of the lack of data. Now If Nintendo supported installing data like the Xbox One and PS4 and 5... That will change my mind quite a bit.

Re: Bravely Default Is Finally Freed From Its 3DS Prison, Coming To Switch 2 At Launch

DDStuff

This game is a hard pass in the physical department. Game Key Cards will become useless after 20 years. I am in for Physical Media in the long haul. So once the servers are down, your SOL.

For some strange and unexplained reason, why would you buy a key card instead of buying it digital? (Other than a resell within the 20 or so years window.)

I will see what the folks in South East Asia will have physically later on once the product reaches state side.

Re: Talking Point: What Would Make You Happy To Give Up Physical Games And Go 100% Digital?

DDStuff

I will happily go fully digital if more countries start to treat digital stuff as physical goods (might not be in my future in the US of A). As of now, physical-all-the-way.

Also, digital was supposed to be more affordable compared to physical, but brick-n-molar stores said they would no longer hold video games if that happened. SO the prices stayed the same for both Physical and Digital as a result.

Re: Random: Another Fan Takes A Crack At Redesigning Switch's User Interface

DDStuff

@earthinheritor Considering how far into the Switches lifecycle we are, I rather not see blur effects on games that remain squares on my Switch screen.

For example: I have a few games in my Steam Client that have not updated their artwork icons to fit the newer design they came out with years ago. So I am stuck with these blurred smears top and bottom of these tall rectangle images on my games list.

Next non-Switch hybrid system can try a newer UI. Because long term when the servers go down in 20 or so years: older icons will clash with this design. I rather they keep the squares.

Re: Square Enix Is Releasing A Legend Of Mana Remaster On Switch This June

DDStuff

I like this game, I will most likely triple dip into buying the HD version. XD

@Ghost_of_Hasashi
Are you aware that there is a Micro SD card to MS Duo Card converter for PSP? I have a bunch of them for my Current PSP UMD systems. The max the PSP can go is 128GB without any required file data (Ones used in PSV). Hopefully this info helps you with getting your Games downloaded again.

Re: Bloodstained Team Releasing Multiple "Small Updates" To Fix Performance Of The Switch Version

DDStuff

The input lag on the Switch is slightly noticeable but I have no problems adjusting to it. "The game is fun, and if it is not fun why bother?" -shrugs-

I will still welcome the patch downloads when they arrive and backup my micro SD card data accordingly. At least the Switch allows me to backup my game patch data conveniently without going through some minor hoops the Gen 7 systems had. It sucks that with Physical media I have to do this, but I do not see this changing anytime soon. :/

Re: Video: See Sonic Forces At Its Best in Official Gameplay Footage

DDStuff

"I don't know whats going on..."

No duh. A war would normally throw people for a loop. It's rumored that this game is based off of another world where Sonic Failed to stop Eggman. I find that interesting. Till more information comes out, I am not going to join the bash anything Sonic related because such and such blah blah blah on every Sonic Release like a Youtube comment thread.

Generations with both 3D and 2D Sonic game-play were great but the hedgehog engine was pushed to its limit and showing age in some in-game cut-scenes. They upgraded the Hedgehog engine to handle better texture loading then I am all good for the eye candy backdrops.

Re: Poll: One Week On - How Do You Feel About the Nintendo Switch?

DDStuff

@Anti-Matter
I already have used up the Switches 1.61GBs of storage with both saves (BotW and Bomberman R) plus the additional games like FAST RMX, Blaster Master Zero and Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove.

Super Bomberman R takes up 241MB w/update data and The Legend of Zelda BotW takes up 216MB w/update data (DLC will add to this).

These save file sizes are very similar to how Wii U handles them. Not really surprising. If a Switch Pro were to come out later, like 3DS to New 3DS, I hope Nintendo adds in at least a minimum of 64GB or more storage built-in. It was already laughable when they released an 8GB White Wii U only then for the system update to eat it all up day 1.

Re: Super Bomberman R's Retail Price Has Finally Been Confirmed

DDStuff

We have not had a full priced retail Bomberman game made in years... YEARS... The last biggest adventure that came out was in Japan only for the Wii. They only sold the battle mode version of it on the Wii e-Shop for a cheap price everywhere else.

Plus from what I herd the game is developed by the original developers at Hudson now at Konami.

Edit - My 2 cents: Plus, if people are going to complain about price. Don't buy anything gaming related as it is considered "a luxury" for a reason.

Re: Editorial: As Games Jump to Nintendo Switch, We See How Quickly the Industry Moves On

DDStuff

The only reason why the Wii U got the software it did was because of the ARM processors in the thing. The PPC (PowerPC) part of it was just used to decompress the files and nothing more. 1/3rd of the games are PPC while 2/3rds are running on the Duel ARM processors in the system itself. As in, the Wii U games are hack jobs for the ARM part of the system.

Which explains why the Nintendo Switch is getting upgraded ports of Wii U titles. And I don't blame developers making the "Switch". lol

The switch has more power, ram and more processor cores for games.

Re: Reggie Fils-Aime on Why the Wii U Was Misunderstood

DDStuff

Another Thing... Nintendo used an IBM PowerPC Tri Core Processor which people assumed in the gaming community were outdated before really understanding what is different in detail. Misunderstanding that it is more powerful then the XBox 360 and PS3. Most gaming engines were more x86 processor focused which is why the Wii U also failed in this area.

The fact that game developers were frustrated with the Wii U's hardware was due to the lack of optimizations available from their respective gaming engines: that heavily favored x86. So in most cases, as we have already seen, the Wii U versions of said games get scrapped completely.

Re: Even If It’s Not Perfect, It’s Better Than Nothing, Says Mighty No. 9 Creator Keiji Inafune

DDStuff

People and Nintendo Life Staff, Ben Judd said that... I repeat "Ben Judd" said it AFTER HE ALREADY Translated "No, nothing outside of the Rey dlc." in the full interview. Then Judd added "It's better then nothing..." Those are Judd's own words. No, I am not mistaken that fact. Also not doing damage control.

Shame on Nintendo Life for not looking into this further besides having a regurgitation what other media sources said as a stated fact. Judd said that last bit. This misinformation is just horrid.

Re: Pokémon Sun and Moon

DDStuff

I hope that these games take full advantage of my New 3DS XLs extra processing power and memory usage. If not, I will enjoy these Pokemon games regardless.
