Re: Review: New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe - Nintendo Plays It Safe With This Timely Reissue

Cronopi

Why Nintendo re-uses the same assets again and again for its 2D Mario? I mean, this is their mascot and should be their flagship game. Why keep pushing the 3D Mario game and be so lazy with the series that allowed the company to became what is today? Even when the trend for 3D reverted thanks to the indie developers bringing back the 2D mechanics back to the present, Nintendo has been just lazy. So please leave the 'New' adjective away for the next installment and create the truly successor of Super Mario World. We've been waiting 29 years for it.

I think what Suda said about sells has to do more with publishers pressure on developers than a marketing stunt. It's been misinterpreted but I have to agree that saying that on a promotional row was a bit sloppy. Still, NMH are a cult and niche series with the potential to broaden it's audience. Is a bit risky upscalling a project after the past two iterations did just well. So is this a test for the market? Of course. But still looks promising as a videogame itself.

Re: White House Meeting With Industry Execs Focuses On Violence In Video Games

Cronopi

Videogames are played globally. The only place who has highschool shootings are the USA (I'm afraid to say so). They should look to another place. Like how easy is to get a gun (legally) on the US. But is always better to deviate the public opinion eye on the most popular media form... Let's call it Games! It happened to comics and movies back in the days. The result was censorship and the result was a massive loss of a more rich enviroment where creativity could blossom. After those witchhunts the comics or movies created ran on a ten year period when all the production was unrelevant and stall, lame, not relevant to the test of time (except some smart minds that sneaked great artistic works). History tends to repeat or rhyme. That sounds like a dark ages off-beat rhyme. US cetizens, you should get that psycho clown out of that office!

Re: Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze Will Get A Retail Release (But It'll Cost You $60)

Cronopi

Yeah, it's a bit stteped but what really puts me down is how Nintendo treats it's 2D platformers. That genre is where their truly legacy resides and they keep cornering it. Uninspired 2D Marios or bland Yoshi games. This is one of the best games on Wii U. It desserves a global retail release and I'm reading that it's not coming to EU. I hope is just they haven't announced yet and where getting the physical release dates soon.

Re: Spanish Retailer Lists Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy for Switch, Fuels Rumours

Cronopi

That would be neta even that I'd never been a massive fan of Crash's series (I skipped the PS and N64 generation). From that era I'm just waiting for a Sin & Punishment remake (sorry for the off-t). Another game that intrigues me from the first PS iteration is Vagrant Story but its clumsy controls always put me down. I'm a big fan of Matsuno's Tactics Ogre. The TO PSP remake would be a good fit for Switch as well.

Re: Soapbox: Nintendo's Riding High On Switch's Wave, But What Does It Need To Do To Stay There?

Cronopi

Well, personally I don't really care about the online system. Just bring good games! New IPs, a truly 2D Mario, rehash some awesome old IPs like Sin and Punishment (As I said on the comments on the other sales story) and bring back some good ports that appeared on other platforms (I'm looking at you Persona, Witcher 3 and Nier: Automata). As long as I stayed on my 3DS for the last gen, I don't care to see some of those ports appearing on the new and bright Ninty console.

Re: Nintendo Releases Stunning Third Quarter Financial Results, Confirms Switch Sales Have Overtaken Wii U

Cronopi

@DK-Fan A dual control system for a new Sin & Punishment (Wii pointer when docked and N64 on handheld) would be great. The Wii title is one of the greatest experiences I had in videogames in years!
And I slightly disagree. A new truly 2D Mario would get the old fans on board again. Like me, many people never get into 3D Mario. Such a different gamestyle. I was very disappointed with the direction that the series took on the NSMB Wii title. Game mechanics were just fine but the art style was so lazy! It was ok for the DS but I was expecting more on the home console. It's the flagship series, c'mon Nintendo! Well let's see what they would bring in the near future.

Re: Nintendo Releases Stunning Third Quarter Financial Results, Confirms Switch Sales Have Overtaken Wii U

Cronopi

A new 2D Mario bros. is needed. And by new I'm not meaning a New SMB but a whole new game, not a bland game with reused assets, a truly follow-up of SMW (no, Yoshi's Land doesn't count).
Bringing back some underdogs like Sin and Punishment or a Lost Story sequel would be neat. And bringing other platforms exclusives like Nier Automata or Ni no kuni (PS). With those numbers they can/ need to be bold with software!

Re: Feature: Here's What Was Announced During The January 2018 Nintendo Direct Mini

Cronopi

@maruse Most of the games announced came from japanese developers but I can sense an strong 3rd western party support coming to Switch. Or are they deaf to what Switch means by now? Just look at the sales numbers on that machine! And how we, the gamers enjoy videogames currently. Portable is the way to go! Jump on in! One last note: Even with all the great games announced on this direct I'm gonna save some coins to get that Wolfenstein on the go! So I expect more games in that fashion (and I don't mean FPS but western like ones). Anyway, good times, people. Rejoice!

Re: Soapbox: Switch's Rampant Success Is Proof Positive That You Should Never Write Off Nintendo

Cronopi

I didn't own a Wii U. Just the games library doesn't appeal me (forgive me Bayonetta, we're gonna met soon on Switch). Honestly, that machine lacks good software. Take apart Zelda BOTW, Splatoon and Mario Kart 8 (all of them now they are truly Switch experiences) and what is left is subpar.
Now all I want from Nintendo is a good platformer: a truly new classic Mario with innovations (no more reused assets from New NSMB) and a new Donkey Kong. Bring it on!
