Re: Best Of 2021: Retro Nintendo Games Cost Too Much, But Nostalgia Is Expensive

Crono1973

@Burning_Spear Virtual Console doesn't have any effect on retro game prices. For example, Breath of Fire 2 has been available on every VC and it is available on NSO, it's still $80 loose. Shall we even mention Chrono Trigger, Earthbound, Final Fantasy 3 (SNES) all of which have been released multiple times across various systems digitally.

There is no solution to this problem, collectors pay alot and if they ever decide to sell, they want to atleast make their money back if they can.

@somnambulance We will get the Pixel Remasters on consoles sooner or later. As of now though, only the first 5 games have been released on PC and Mobile. FF6 is set to be released on Steam and Mobile in Feb 2022 so maybe sometime next year we will see the Pixel Remasters on consoles.

Re: Talking Point: Should The Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack Library Expand Faster?

@munstahunta Nintendo has offered drip feed in both the VC and in this subscription service. I honestly don't think there is anything consumers could do to make them release a collection of system specific games (like the Genesis Collection).

People can unsubscribe but it won't change Nintendo's course at all. Some companies are stubborn and then there's Nintendo that gives new meaning to the word.

@frogopus well, for one, I'm not really interested in comparing my $1k device with the $350 that i use for two different things

Ok but my point is that an OLED screen is not anything to be 'impressed' by in 2021 if you have been looking at one on your smartphone for years.

People just love to praise Nintendo for basic stuff that everyone has been doing for years. BTW, plenty of people game on their phones so don't start typing 'but phones aren't for gaming so it's not the same as the Switch'. Many games on the Switch are mobile ports.

On my fanboy scale, that's on the same level as people who say 'OMG, FF7 or GTA is finally on a Nintendo platform and that makes it worth the price' as if they haven't been playing those games on other platforms for 20 years anyway. You still play with an analog stick and buttons no matter which platform you choose.
