@thesilverbrick ...and my point is that since they didn't include it with the other two games and haven't released it on NSO, they don't intend to release it at all.
Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask are only 2 years apart. Majora's Mask to Wind Waker is only 2 years and Wind Waker to Twilight Princess is only 4 years. All this time, they were also supporting a handheld AND a console.
Taking 6 years to make a sequel with the same engine on the same hardware is incompetence. Frankly, I am surprised at how forgiving you guys are.
@HalBailman Historically, the last three Zelda games have coincided releases with the launch of a new system and were released on the old one.
The last three games were Twilight Princess, Skyward Sword and Breath of the Wild. Skyward Sword came out a year before the Wii U and it was not released as a Wii U game.
@Varkster It is relevant. If Cyberpunk 2077 came out in the year 2077 it probably would have been a 10/10 game.
If all we care about are review scores then maybe but since we, as consumers can take things like patches and buying it years after release into account, the game does not have to be FOREVER bad.
The quote became irrelevant when games started getting patched on a regular basis.
@LittleGhost They just can’t make games like they used to and that’s why the remasters/ports are needed. Wishing that they could make hit after hit again is not going to change reality. They just can’t do it.
One problem with modern RPG’s is that there really aren’t storage limitations and therefore they are bloated. They are in need of editing. Also modern rpg’s love to waste your time and are complicated for the sake of complexity. You can’t just buy or find new equipment anymore. In modern RPG’s you have to collect a bunch of junk to craft or upgrade your equipment and items.
@LittleGhost They need to consistently make good new games instead of taking way too long to put out something mediocre and then making the cash back with remasters.
Ok but if they are making their money with remasters then the audience is telling them that they prefer the older games remastered than their new games.
For example, I wonder how many prefer Final Fantasy Tactics over Triangle Strategy or Final Fantasy VI over Octopath Traveler. Chrono Trigger over I am Setsuna.
@bonjong23 If they were remaking Chrono Trigger, they would delist the original like they did with the Pixel Remasters. In which case this update would be a waste of time and money. They aren’t remaking Chrono Trigger. They will release it on current consoles with this new update though.
@FishyS What benefit would there be to a more powerful Switch? The games weren’t designed to take advantage of a more powerful Switch, new games would still have to work on the original Switch and battery life would be decreased. I am just not seeing the benefit here.
@GameOtaku That’s how it would have to be, with digital you would have to loan out your console and ALL of your games to loan out a single game. With physical you only need to loan out the single game.
@GameOtaku You can’t sell, loan out, etc…. your digital games so no, you don’t own them. You can’t even play them on another Switch without Nintendo’s approval. Why are you pretending that you don’t understand this?
@GameOtaku Enforce what? Are you suggesting Nintendo could come take my Super Mario Brothers NES cartridge?
Edit: No, they can’t do that. They don’t own my copy of the game, I do and that is why I can do what I want with it short of making illegal copies. The process of selling a game is no more complicated than selling the console itself. There is no license key, you don’t need to contact Nintendo to transfer the non existent license. The new owner doesn’t need to register their copy of the game. Just because you heard some dumb ideas on the internet doesn’t make them true.
@NintendoByNature My cart is still going strong, these carts don’t die easily. Breath of Fire 2 came out on 1995, so that’s 26 years. I mean, my Super Mario Bros cart is still going strong and that game came out 36 years ago. You can’t even begin to compare digital stores to physical cartridges.
@Euler As I said, fixing a game console is not quite as cheap or simple as fixing a game cartridge. Plus when your console goes, you lose all your digital games, when a cartridge break (rarer, in my experience) you lose only one game.
@GameOtaku selling a game cartridge is like selling a couch, there is no paperwork involved. No license transfer, no license expiration date.
No one is going to check your license credentials when you try to sell it. They may be throwing EULA’s all over games now but back then they weren’t and even now, physical games are treated the same as they always have been. EULA or not.
@Euler If it breaks you can fix it. Save batteries can be replaced, contacts can be cleaned and chips can be resoldered. With digital, you can’t fix it when it’s gone.
Physical- you control how long it works Digital - you have little control how long it works, maybe keep repairing your console but that’s not quite as simple or cheap as fixing.a cartridge
@GameOtaku Even if you “own” a physical copy in all the legal mumbo jumbo it says you are licensed the game. It really shouldn’t matter if you bought it digital or physical the licensing for that copy is yours.
No, I own my physical copy and I can play it anytime I like, I can sell it, I can loan it out, I can destroy it. No one can legally take it from me. The only thing I cannot do is make illegal copies.
That's because I do not own the COPYRIGHT. You see how the works, COPY RIGHT? I don't have the RIGHT to make COPIES. That doesn't mean I don't own my SNES copy of Super Mario World. It blows my mind how many people believe that you don't own your game cartridges.
Now let's look at digital. You own nothing because you can only play it as long as the Nintendo let's you play it. They can take it away at any time and it isn't legally considered theft. That is why they can close these stores and offer you no way to redownload the games you 'rented'. You can't sell it, you can't loan it out and no, you can't even destroy it. You may be able to ask Nintendo to remove it from your account but again, that's Nintendo destroying it and not you destroying it.
Please stop pretending that you don't understand this.
@GameOtaku You don’t own any digital game (except maybe GOG) because it can be taken from you. However, yes I do own my copies of my physical games. Are you suggesting that Nintendo is going to come take them away at some point? Should I send in my SNES copy of Chrono Trigger before Nintendo sends out their lawyers?? LOL
@Euler My launch SNES doesn’t work anymore but the games work on any SNES or clone SNES. See the difference?
What if your PS2 games became worthless because they were registered to the first PS2 you played them on and the disc drive stopped working? See the difference between physical and digital now?
@GameOtaku If you aren’t going to play the games on NSO then don’t pay for it, same as VC offerings. Seriously guys, VC is just another digital copy and you don’t own the games you ‘buy’ on it. This should be obvious to anyone who spent a lot of money on the Wii, Wii U or 3DS VC’s and now realize those games will die with the hardware they are registered to.
@DaruniaJones1988 Is VC cheaper? NES games were $5 each, SNES games were $8 each and N64 games were $10 each. I guess it depends on how many games you have played on NSO but your $20 a year is 4 NES games or 2 SNES games based on VC prices.
All the VC’s will be gone soon and you guys are asking to be able to lose more money on VC? VC games are tied to hardware so when your console dies, so does your content. You never owned VC games and that makes it no different than NSO. You want Breath of Fire II forever? Buy the SNES or GBA cartridge.
@JungeRoemer Chrono Cross is a remake of Radical Dreamers Chrono Cross was inspired by Radical Dreamers which was a text based game released ONLY in Japan and only as a download. You are really stretching 'remake' here.
@Wexter The Steam version is fine too. I shouldn't care either way, I have it on the SNES, PS1, PSP, PS Vita, DS, Wii VC, Steam, IOS and on my SNES Classic. I guess you could say that I am covered for Chrono Trigger. I just expected something similar to Collection of Mana when they finally announced this game. We knew it was coming months ago thanks to that NVidia leak, also Final Fantasy Tactics remaster was leaked so that should be announced soon too.
I am glad to see this remaster even if it's not all that people wanted. The price is fine too. I don't understand why Chrono Trigger wasn't released in one form or another to go with this.
I wouldn't be surprised if it came to NSO around the time of this release. I also wouldn't be surprised if it didn't come to NSO.

Re: Rumour: Could We Be Getting New NES And SNES Games This Week?
@thesilverbrick They could have monetized it by putting it in a collection with Radical Dreamers and Chrono Cross like they did with Secret of Mana.
Re: Rumour: Could We Be Getting New NES And SNES Games This Week?
@thesilverbrick People hoping to see SNES RPGs like Chrono Trigger or Final Fantasy are dreaming.
They had their chance when to put Chrono Trigger in with Chrono Cross and Radical Dreamers. I don’t think there will be a Chrono Trigger collection.

Re: The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild 2 Delayed To Spring 2023
@TheRedComet BOTW launched with some pretty poor framerate issues. They probably want to avoid that again.
You guys fall over yourselves making excuses for Nintendo. What will you say when it launches (eventually) with framerate issues?
Re: The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild 2 Delayed To Spring 2023
@AtlanteanMan The Zelda series kind of has a history of that because it is, after all, arguably more of a "showcase" than Mario for any new hardware.
LOL, right because showcasing that the Wii could run a Gamecube game and the Switch could run a Wii U game is really showing off the new hardware.
Re: The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild 2 Delayed To Spring 2023
6 years to make a sequel to a game using the same engine and many of the same assets. This is ridiculous.
They would be even slower if they still had to support a handheld and a console.

One of the most memorable moments of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker was undoubtedly its incredibly stylish prologue sequence
Memorable? Only if you count me remembering that I thought ‘why can’t I skip this boring intro?’
They did fix that in the HD remake though and I remember that too.
