Re: You'll Really, Really Want To Ensure Your Pokémon Diamond/Pearl Remakes Are Updated At Launch

@westman98 I don't see how this Pokemon Day 1 patch is any different from Day 1 patches in other games. If the general public didn't complain about those Day 1 patches, they won't complain about this one.

What's different about lootboxes in most games and the ones people made a big stink about in that EA Star Wars game a few years ago? Nothing, that was just the trigger.

@anoyonmus a bigger question is why people are complaining that Pokémon does this day 1 patch while practically every other franchise does the same exact or similar thing for a long time

The masses don't generally complain as much about things the first time they happen. It takes a while before enough people get upset with a thing to make a stink.

For example, you may see male suicide rates getting alot more attention lately. 'Why now?', you may ask since the stats are nothing new, it's always been this way. It's just the way things work with the masses. It wasn't too long ago that homosexual rights were frowned upon by the masses and then everything flipped. Why? It's just the way the masses work.

Sometimes it just takes the right trigger. Something that has been a long time coming shouldn't be frowned upon when it arrives just because it didn't arrive sooner.

Re: Talking Point: Will Nintendo Abandon The Switch Concept For Its Next Console?

@Teksetter I'm sure Nintendo understands there will be hell to pay if their next console does not have backwards compatibility with the Switch.

I'm sure that Nintendo knows there will be hell to pay if they overcharge for the N64 games and the emulation is bad. That is why Nintendo didn't overcharge and the emulation is perfect. /s

Remember that time Nintendo released a hybrid that wasn't backward compatible with any previous console or handheld and then they got people to buy the games from previous gens again for $60 each. LOL...good times.

They thought they could duplicate the success of the Wii with the Wii U. The Wii U had everything that the Wii did and then some but people were tired of motion controls at that point.

They made the Wii U look similar to the Wii and focused on the Gamepad on the box leading some people to believe it was just another iteration of the Wii with a different controller. Reusing the name didn't help with the confusion either.

If they try to capture the Switch lightning in a bottle two gens in a row, it will fail too. The hybrid concept is not new anymore and it's compromises become more apparent as time goes on as the competition brings much more powerful hardware making it hard to port games down to the Switch or it's successor.

Re: Review: Super Mario 64 - The Best Launch Game Ever Made

The thing that makes Mario 64 superior to all the other 3D Mario games is that you can go into a level and quickly get a star for atleast half of the game. The pace is just better and it makes for a more enjoyable experience. You don't even need to take advantage of shortcuts to quickly grab a star even though there are plenty of shortcuts. You can beat the game in a matter of hours if you want to.
