It's now January 2022, and you know what that means, right? It's time for a Nintendo Switch update! With this in mind, Nintendo has rolled out its first system firmware update of the year.
The official patch notes reveal some general system stability improvements. Here are the full details, courtesy of the Nintendo support page:

General system stability improvements to enhance the user's experience.
According to dataminer OatmealDome, there have been some other changes but it's likely only bug fixes:
If we find out anything else about the latest firmware update, we'll let you know.

....Why do I keep looking at these update articles, we're never going to get anything exciting.
One of these days we will get more then just white and black color. We got Bluetooth speaker support randomly even if the result was mixed depending on what headphones you use
I'm so stable, I could keep all the horses happy for ages!
Thank goodness! My Switch has felt very unstable lately. Good work, Nintendo!
Phew, my Switch almost fell over, but after the update its upright again!
Stability...yay.😒
My Switch is ready! (for a folder)
Banjo-Kazooie making things more stable. 😉
Release an update that eliminates input lag on shmup type games. Otherwise the PS4 gets more of my money.
I'm calling it now, the next console will be called Nintendo Stable.
I wonder if it's now stable enough to handle folders or additional themes?
@HotGoomba : Complete with horseshoe-shaped Joy-Clops.
Nintendo System Update and UI team, 2012: "We will add as many interesting, charming and useful features to our two systems as possible. Spare no expense".
Nintendo System Update and UI team, the last remaining employee, 2022: "switch stable lol".
Probably for the Cloud Versions Of KH 1.5, 2.5, 2.8, and 3.
My Switch was starting to tip over a bit...
Probably some hidden preparations for the Switch Pro hiding in there too.
Not entirely stable? I'm glad you're here to tell us these things. Chewie, take the professor in the back and plug him into the hyperdrive!
Cue the obligatory comments about having folders
Just in time. My Switch was starting to lean a bit.
@Saf01 I spent my entire day unstacking and restacking folders so this news about stability is just what I needed for a cheer up!
The PS Vita and New 3DS have had folders (bubbles in Vita's case) for the last five years or so.
The 💩 comes through in greater clarity 😄
Stability memes keep me young and strong, keep 'em up!
@SuperCharr not what I expected, well played
All of y’all stable memers out there:
Quit horsing around.
@JakedaArbok
As soon as there are folders and themes, then that will happen.
Still no banjo
@Joeynator3000 speak for yourself, I for one am ALWAYS excited at the prospect of software stability
@ModdedInkling
I see.
I understand that not having any folders or themes is foal (foul) play.
Hay now!
You fell into my trap, you see. You thought I was just trying to complain about Nintendo fans, but in reality…
I was just farming for likes.
Could we at least get a grey theme?
You know, I gave up on themes a long time ago.... But seriously, I wish there was an option to sort games by what is installed. Every other game system has that option. With over 250 games, even my 400GB SD card can't hold everything...
The Switch needs a LOT more stability. Never had a console with so many games freezing or crashing.
@WhiteTrashGuy wish they would let us store games on hard drives and move them over to the sd cards since sd cards top off at 1tb and i got at least 3 tb of games at this point
Nice, Nintendo! This is the best retaliation to Microsoft’s purchase of actiblizzard. Bravo!
The switch is more stable than Sony's stocks these past 2 days
Imagine Nintendo releasing an actual update to the UI. Can you even imagine?
@Savage_Joe
#BURN!!!!!!!!!
@aznable no, only stable enough for horses
@JakedaArbok
Wow, what a snake.
I'm going to test my Switch by spinning a tower of sticks and plates on it.
I haven't noticed anything weird about my Switch or is only for people who on their Switch for countless hour at a time because the longest I use my Switch was maybe a hour and half at a time.
@JakedaArbok A switch without folders is a pigsty! All neigh-sayers will be ignored
Nintendo should teach countries how to be this stable.
The question is, is this actually stable? I still haven't forgotten how last year they released an update which destroyed online capability for a month.
The Switch is now so stable that it would easily hold the whole Earth together had it been hit by another planet.
@Gavintendo I know what you saying. I´ve read this, too. It´s so sad that they lying
YES! Finally!!! It felt like I was waiting for this update forever.
I obviously gave up on folders a long, long time ago. I've concluded that Nintendo haven't had any staff responsible for maintaining and improving the UI since year one of the console.
At least A-Z sorting groups together all the Arcade Archives titles and all my Japanese "imports" at the end of the list.
97 games though, and a third of them shmups. Would have been nice to sort them into one place.
This is because of Japan and their earthquakes, they need a lot of stability to play on shaking terrain
I want to say Nintendo will deliver on the OS features people been asking for with the Switch 2, but even that is a little bit too optimistic
Okay, this gag was funny at first; now it's just a depressing reminder of Nintendo's mediocrity.
Yes! Finally an update that continues to have no folders or decent eshop!
Finally some reason to boot up my Switch.
Good, i needed my new year stability fix, now I can face 2022 head on
It's so stable I can play Jenga on it.
@Joeynator3000 What sort of exciting update are you expecting?
The Nintendo Switch will be more stable than the Leapster 2
I've been quite happy with an Xbox Series S for the last few months. Thought I’d drop in to see if there’s anything new on the Switch front… but NOPE, it’s the same old stagnate waters 🙄
Anyone up for a game of Mario Kart 8? 😴
@Dethmunk "What's the point in an article like this?"
If they didn't post an article about the new patch then people would say, "Where's the article about the new patch?"
I'm glad to see they finally updated the Bluetooth! It was working great then here recently it's been worthless!
@Silly_G That was horribly cheesy.... And I love it.
Nintendo should update the eShop and make it load faster and be a bit more organized. I hate going on there to find games due to the how slow it is.
Boring!
(CAN YOU PLEASE GET RID OF THE MINIMUM WORD LIMIT GEEZ!)
Man there hasn't been an actual exciting system update in quite some time now. No I don't count Bluetooth support as exciting.

If we had real journalists, they would push for more information instead of just repeating what the corporation says.
probably means they made their code look less like s......
Just an update to continue the snowball fight with modded consoles. Obviously.
Sweet. Just what I was hoping for: Some stability in my life.
