Re: Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Temporarily Listed On Nintendo Website For $70 USD

@ItsATM Those N64 games also had a physical cartridge which was expensive to make. Those games came with a manual too and there was a much smaller install base (fewer copies were sold so more had to be made per copy). A n64 cart costed alot more to make than a Switch game card. Not that it really matters since a digital copy is the same price.

The only reason this game is $70 is because gamers have shown (with other consoles) that they are willing to pay that much. They know Zelda will sell at this price and this is a test case. It isn't because of inflation or development costs or any other reason.

@Wexter Exactly, they have gotten so scummy with the extras that people are asking for a price increase to stop the scummy practices. What they call the more expensive digital deluxe edition these days was once called on disc dlc and was quite controversial. Now they sell it openly and the true cost of the full game is much more than the price of the base game. It’s a game of cross this line and once people accept that they present a new line to cross. Asking for $100 games to avoid the nonsense is just another line to cross and before long they will still be trying to sell us more dlc on top of that price.

@Kiwi_Unlimited Suddenly my friends' stories are completely uninteresting and I don't want to duel them Neenah we have the same 'mon.

This is what's important, your friends Pokémon stories? Guess I have been playing it wrong.

Otherwise, the pokemon catching experience is kind of pointless

I MUST have been playing it wrong. I should have been calling my friends everytime I caught a new Pokemon!

'Hey Jeff, I just caught a Bidoof, I named him Bucky'

@Phlaike So after getting utterly spanked over the making of a backup copy thing and showing that you don't even remember how cassette tape recording works. You do exactly what you accused me of and re-direct to ONE point. A point that I have not ignored but have made several posts about.

You think stupid laws should be obeyed on principle; I disagree. We have a difference of opinion. On the objective facts about making a legal backup, you were objectively wrong. Chances are I was debating the legality of making a legal backup when you were trying to figure out how to make a backup.

Re: Nintendo Isn't Happy About Switch Game Images On Steam

Crono1973

@Phlaike CD's and DVD's would also apply to cassettes and video cassettes. Are you really stooping this low? In addition, even if you respect the 'can't circumvent DRM' nonsense, that still wouldn't apply to audio cassettes.

I pasted directly from the site since you obviously missed everything you didn't like!

So yes fella, you could make a legal copy of your purchased audio cassettes and I even know HOW cassette recording works, unlike you. Get your ducks in a row next time.

https://legalbeagle.com/12719622-dmca-backup-of-copyrighted-content.html

Scroll down to where is says CD’s and DVD’s. It basically says that making a backup copy for use if the original copy fails is legal. I would copy and paste directly from the site but I am on my phone and that is a pain.

Here ya go:
"In addition to making a backup copy of software, it is legal to make a backup copy of a CD or DVD so that you can continue to enjoy the copyrighted material if your original copy fails. It is illegal to make copies of CDs or DVDs if you intend to distribute them to third parties, even by giving them away. Additionally, in some instances it may be unlawful to circumvent anti-piracy technology in order to make a backup copy of a CD or DVD."

Let me address this line as it is a stupid provision:
"Additionally, in some instances it may be unlawful to circumvent anti-piracy technology in order to make a backup copy of a CD or DVD."

This is a provision that was added in 2000 that allows corporations to circumvent your legal right to make a backup for personal use which was previously established, and this provision should not exist.

@Phlaike Owning it can mean that you admit to breaking a stupid law and are proud of it. You make think all laws are fair and perfect but not all of us think that way.

You can atleast admit that you were wrong about how cassette tapes worked before shifting the goal post.

Re: Nintendo Isn't Happy About Switch Game Images On Steam

Crono1973

@Phlaike Your memory is flawed, blank tapes had the tabs and if you didn’t want them accidental recorded over you would pop out the tabs. Professional tapes already had the tabs popped out. You didn’t tape over the hole to make a copy. You tape over the hole if you wanted erase the professional tape and record something new on it. You could do that if you wanted to, no law against it

Check your memory banks next time before playing the gotcha card.

Re: Nintendo Isn't Happy About Switch Game Images On Steam

Crono1973

@Phlaike The law is not always right and when the law is affected by lobbying it just isn’t a fair representation.

For example, now you have to be 21 to buy tobacco in my state. Before that it was 18 and before that it was 16. Which law is fair? They just keeping upping the age, at what point do citizens just say no and find ways around the law? Should they just roll with the changes and obey the law regardless of how they feel about it?

Re: Nintendo Isn't Happy About Switch Game Images On Steam

Crono1973

@ThePizzaCheese Wait. So let me get this straight. Since Nintendo is no longer selling SNES consoles, it is ok to play on a clone console BECAUSE there is nothing Nintendo needs to be compensated for? This is because Nintendo can't make money off of a console that it no longer sells.

However, this same logic doesn't work for the games that Nintendo no longer sells?

Re: Nintendo Isn't Happy About Switch Game Images On Steam

Crono1973

@ThePizzaCheese ...just and fair is a matter of opinion. The laws are written to benefit corporations, that isn't exactly what I would call fair and thanks to the internet they can be disregarded if you just want to play a game that isn't available from the copyright holder.

You never answered my question about playing a real SNES game on a Retron 5. Are you ok with that, why or why not?
