I’ve recommended it here before, but Crossniq+ is a perfect indie gem. It’s a arcade puzzler like Puyo Puyo or Tetris The Grandmaster with an amazing visual style and excellent music. It’s really cheap too, around 8 USD and it often goes on sale.
A meh crossover for a meh game. Controversies aside, Dr Disrespect’s on-stream personality has always sounded to me like an excuse to be a huge jerk, and it seems like it’s extended to his personal life with all these controversies and conspiracy theories.
Oh sweet! I love Spellbreak but haven’t played it in a bit because I felt like there wasn’t really any goal to work towards and got bored of just solos and squads, good to hear the storyline, Halloween event, and team battle mode is launching!
@Mediocre_Aether I’m with you here. The art looks fun and I’m always down for some good satire, but my rogue-like itch is currently scratched by Hades.
It may just be because they were my first Pokémon games, but I will always love Black and Black 2. They were so incredible and a hell of a way to kick off 7 year old me’s love of Pokémon. I should do another run of Black and B2, thankfully I’ve got a hacked N2DS so I don’t have to overwrite my old saves.
That’s... ugh, very not pretty. Still, I don’t understand people getting ticked off about this. It’s like that one guy on Reddit getting angry they altered FLUDD’s dialogue when talking about the controls and suggested Nintendo use the same VA and buy the same recording hardware and software as in 2002 to recreate it.
It’s barebones, but what else can you expect from Nintendo? Barebones-but-good is practically Nintendo’s modus operandi as of late. It still makes me sad though, I’d love bonus features like the Kirby anniversary game back on the Wii!
@rockodoodle Oh, absolutely. So many people diss mobile as a platform because of the crappy pay-to-win and gacha games, when the reality is it’s a platform just like any else. I think Apple Arcade’s proved that; it’s an excellent platform for everything from RPGs to visual novels to metroidvanias to adventure games to whatever the heck Sayonara Wild Hearts is. Oh, and the mobile ports of Slay the Spire and Dead Cells are pretty solid, or so I’ve heard. I think mobile has a bright future for indies.
Hmm, this reminds me I should play A Short Hike. I got it for PC as part of the itch.io racial justice and equality bundle a while ago and haven’t played it yet.
@Tyranexx If you’ve got an iOS device with iOS 13, you can do a free trial of Apple Arcade to try out Takeshi and Hiroshi. I haven’t played it yet but my brother has and he says it’s super cute and fun.
I was always more of a Beyblade and Pokémon kid, but it makes me so sad to see the new Ben 10. How did they turn a pretty good action cartoon into... well, that?!
Oh man, I would love anything TWEWY related. The pure style of everything from the world to the characters to the music is something I love that I’ve barely seen replicated in other games. Jet Set Radio started it, TWEWY codified it, Splatoon has a little bit of it, Lethal League and LL Blaze have a lot more of it, and Hover had quite a bit of that style but the game felt kinda underdeveloped.
I would love occasional one-off Splatfests like this. Say, 2-3 a year, just enough to draw new and returning players in and give current players more variety. Heck, I don’t even mind if they reuse Splatfest topics; there’s enough out there that if you throw ‘em all into a hat you’re not gonna repeat the same one too quickly.
Okay, this isn’t that bad. I think cartoony characters work much better for Pops than others. I have 4 Pops: Lucio, McCree, Bob Ross, and Canti. Lucio and McCree are already cartoony and I actually really like their Pop designs, though I don’t know why; Canti is actually pretty detailed for a cheap figure (especially since the other FLCL figures I can find online are expensive) and doesn’t have eyes anyway; and Bob Ross just works for some reason.
I’m willing to bet that TemTem being an indie, the devs will actually listen to feedback, especially since they’re in Early Access right now. Hopefully this leads to Game Freak taking cues from TemTem for features and improvements the players want. From a Kotaku article I read, the team behind it is only 18 people (and a dog!). Making an indie MMO that’s taking aim at a media juggernaut with a small crew? I’m willing to cut them some slack. That’s a huge undertaking. Of course, I’ve always been optimistic about early access games like this.
I’m just gonna add CROSSNIQ+ here. Somehow it’s gotten passed over by almost every gaming outlet, the only one I’ve seen do anything on it is Kotaku. It’s stylish arcade puzzle action with a banging soundtrack and a hell of an artstyle. It’s pretty niche, but if you like Puyo Puyo, Tetris The Grandmaster, or the Puzzle League games, check it out.
Honestly, I don’t see enough love for CROSSNIQ+. It’s one of my games of the year, but it flew under almost everyone’s radar. If you like puzzle games and/or retro aesthetics, check it out.

Re: Frame Rate And Resolution For Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Calamity Demo Revealed
Eh, it’s a Warriors game. Can’t have a Warriors game without a frame-rate-dropping amount of enemies on screen.

Re: Deals: You Might Want To Switch Things Up With One Of These Licenced Cases From Numskull
The Hogwarts one looks super clean, and the Back To The Future one looks fun, but most of them suck. Is that Grinch one covered in fur? Eugh.

Re: Review: FIFA 21 - EA Insults Switch Owners Yet Again With This Half-Baked Effort
Holy crap, this is the most scathing review I’ve seen from Nintendo Life. If this is a 2/10, I don’t even want to know what a 1/10 looks like.
