Nintendo has kickstarted an indie-focused sale on Nintendo Switch, celebrating yesterday's Nintendo Indie World Showcase.
The sale offers discounts of up to 40% on some cracking indie titles on Switch, including launch window discounts for some of the games that were featured in yesterday's show. You can find all current Switch discounts here, and deals for new releases in particular here (both of those links will direct you to Nintendo's official US website).
Some offers, such as those for the new Indie Showcase games, are also available in Europe, so make sure to jump onto the eShop in your country and look through the recent releases to find them. Plenty of the games in yesterday's show surprise-launched immediately afterwards, so there are plenty to choose from.
These offers end on 30th August at 11:59pm PT, so make sure to pick up anything that really takes your fancy before then.
Happy shopping!

Finally grabbed Torchlight II and plan to jump into it multiplayer with a friend later. Also grabbed A Short Hike because I couldn't resist it for that price, looks like a chill time. Nothing else of note from my wishlist got a discount though.
Wow, Europe gets the short end of the stick again. Who would’ve thought.
I picked up A Short Hike, Takeshi & Hiroshi, & Spiritfarer, It was great to see all the shadow drops yesterday!
Bought Raji, will fire it up later.
@Sinton all the deals for the Indie World sale are also available in the EU, I don't see why the remark was made in the article.
@Sinton No we have a bunch of deals too including all these games, NL mentions it but didn't bother putting them in the article.
There's actually quite a big indie sale on in the EU.
@Ogbert To actually add to this, all deals are matched between the regions (every deal in the US is available at the same discount in the EU). Makes little sense that Ryan made the comment, a simple boot-up of his own eShop would reveal that information.
@Sinton see all above comments.
Also: Don’t know why the whine when the eshop is region free. You can always sign up for the American eshop if somehow you think Europe always gets the short end of the stick.
@Sinton Europe gets a sale and a bunch of Americans complain that the US never gets the good stuff. The US gets a sale and apparently it works the other way around too. Fairly sure that the grass is really not greener though.
And as others have pointed out, we are getting basically the same damn sale in Europe in this case. I'm not sure which games specifically but the European version even claims discounts of up to 65%, instead of the 40% cited for the US.
Enjoyed the Indie World presentation, some of these games look interesting, and the sale adds temptation, but I still want to know how they play.. hoping to find some impressions soon.
@Ogbert @DarkTron No, they’re not the same as far as I can tell. Some are the same, as the article mentions, but far from all.
@Friendly I could of course make another profile, but buying games with American dollars would still make the games more expensive than if I got the percentage discount in my own currency.
Deals in EU as well. Picked up the Dead Cells bundle. Funny enough the game itself is not on sale. Anyhoot, pray it be good.
@Sinton depends on the game which game is more expensive and which isn’t.
Also, which game did you really want to buy that’s on sale on the American one, but not on the European one?
@Sinton The games revealed in the Indie World showcase that were released after the presentation all match their US sale.
There's only one game that doesn't match the sale discount across regions (Huntdown is 30% off in the US, 10% off in US) and technically Dead Cells is only on sale as part of the Bad Seed Bundle. Every other game on the list either matches or beats the discount (and, due to regional pricing, are in some cases cheaper to buy in EU than US).
I've compared the prices by using DekuDeals and the Nintendo page that lists the games specifically marked as being part of the sale. Quite simply, it's wrong to say the sale is "predominantly NA" (and the article has been updated to reflect that). You're probably looking at every game on sale instead, where there is a difference, considering this entire article is about the Indie World sale, not really applicable.
@DarkTron You’re probably right, as the discounts I’ve seen in the US are probably Indie games that are not part of the Indie World sale.
When it comes to «cheaper to buy in the EU», that depends on which country you’re in / which currency you’re using.
Europe isn't Europe. For example, here in Switerland, usually even with 50% sale, we are often still more expensive than the Euro-Region and the US without discount. Nintendo does the same thing as most of retailers do: Double the price for Switzerland. For a digital good, this is just a joke. But yes, at least we are now able to change the region.
@Friendly There are several. Just to mention some of the games currently on my wish list: Transistor (85 percent off in US, not discounted in Europe), Dead Cells (40 percent off in US, not discounted in Europe), Bastion (85 percent off in US, not discounted in Europe), Huntdown (30 percent off in US, 10 percent off in EU), Trine 2: Complete Story (70 percent off in US, not discounted in Europe).
Hopefully some of these will get discounts later today.
Edit: Had to remove some of the games I listed, as it turned out it was the physical version that was discounted.
I downloaded Raji! Into it so far.
@Sinton dead cells bundle is 40% off. Gives you the dlc for 1,20 euro which is worth it.
The other three you mention are on sale literally every 2 months. I have bought m all three, and I usually buy games that are 50% off on my wishlist.
So absolutely no reason to say ‘Europe is worse off’ all the time. A lot of times (Probably 50% of the time) sales in Europe are actually bigger.
I didn't notice any sales on the North American Eshop yesterday for Indie Titles.
Also, Torchlight 3 is NOT an Indie Game, heck, Perfect World Entertainment has a hand in it & they're a big studio. Why was Torchlight 3 featured with a bunch of Indie Games?
Is every comment section on this site just people complaining?
Now I'm complaining about the complaining so the loop continues.
Wow, thanks for being totally useless to us Europeans NL!
@Reaast well... does Nintendo do that? Or does it have something to do with taxes?
Would love to hear some feedback on Raji and A Short Hike. Both looked very interesting to me.
@Friendly Nintendo does it. Taxes in Switzerland are generally very low. VAT for example is 7.7%, while VAT in most EU Countries is more than 20%. So in fact, it should be cheaper in Switzerland. Check the eshop price comparision website, in 98% of the time, the game cost worldwide the most in Switzerland. We have the highest average wages in the world and Nintendo (And others) takes simply advantage of that.
@FatHedgehog . Never heard of until yesterday but got a short hike from uk store for 5 pound ish. It took me 1 hour to get to the end with still a bit more exploring left! A wonderful game which I will play again tonight! A short sweet cute experience for the price of like a burger and chips! So yeah I’m happy xx
@Sinton Oh I see, so because the games you specifically want are not currently on sale you think the EU is getting the short end of the stick in the sale? Well I can't say I agree with that, we're getting the same sale deals as those mentioned in the article and a whole load of others. Plus games like Bastion and Transistor are on sale all the time anyway. It's not the short end of the stick at all.
Noticed some of these last night during a brief eShop browse. Takeshi and Hiroshi interests me the most, but I want to read some impressions of the game before I grab it.
Excellent. I picked up Superliminal. I highly recommend anyone who's on the fence to do so as well.
I have waffled for a while, but at $13, I am going to finally pick up Ori. Spawn Wave saying it is a no-brainer this morning was what made me take the leap.
@Ogbert If you don’t mind me asking, which are these «whole load of others» games you mention?
@Tyranexx If you’ve got an iOS device with iOS 13, you can do a free trial of Apple Arcade to try out Takeshi and Hiroshi. I haven’t played it yet but my brother has and he says it’s super cute and fun.
Hmm, this reminds me I should play A Short Hike. I got it for PC as part of the itch.io racial justice and equality bundle a while ago and haven’t played it yet.

Can't wait to have a look at what is on offer.
I have had my eye on Dead Cells for a while bc it gets great reviews and is always recommended. But I am a casual gamer as far as skill level, maybe intermediate, if that. Would I be wasting my $$$$ on this due to frustration?
I miss when they listed the games on sale
@Ogbert I was thinking more of the «whole load of other» sales that North America aren’t getting. As far as I can tell, North America have all the games you linked to at equal or better sale.
@Sinton Dude, you replied to yourself.
@JimmySpades LOL, thanks, I have no idea how that happened.
@edgedino Me too!
@Cr4shMyCar No iOS device to speak of here, but I am glad to read your brother likes the game! The suggestion is appreciated!
@Cr4shMyCar I am definitely giving this a go soon. People criticize tablet and mobile gaming, but I think Apple is doing pretty well. It seems that just about every game that is ported to the Switch gets positive reviews.
@rockodoodle Oh, absolutely. So many people diss mobile as a platform because of the crappy pay-to-win and gacha games, when the reality is it’s a platform just like any else. I think Apple Arcade’s proved that; it’s an excellent platform for everything from RPGs to visual novels to metroidvanias to adventure games to whatever the heck Sayonara Wild Hearts is. Oh, and the mobile ports of Slay the Spire and Dead Cells are pretty solid, or so I’ve heard. I think mobile has a bright future for indies.
@The__Goomba I don't like your comment...lol...
@Cr4shMyCar part of me wishes that I passed on some Switch ports like What the Golf
Interested in Raji and Evergate. Waiting for reviews.
15 percent off streets of rage 4 makes it 21.50usd... still a bit overpriced. These kind of games are usually 19.99 at launch. I might wait a little longer.
@Cr4shMyCar I got the same bundle! I have to install and try it out. People really singing it's praises!
Those aresome sweet deals on Hotline Miami, Mother Russia Bleeds, Pikuniku and Broforce.
@Reaast
It could be worse. You could be buying PB Baumann tools at the US list prices with an American salary. 😂
