Re: The Fable Reboot Is Reportedly "Under Consideration" For Switch 2

CaptainQuo

Fable series is overhyped, had the first two for Xbox & Xbox360. First one was fine if a bit bland. Barely touched the second one, but the character classes fit the overly simplistic 'archer, fighter or mage' triangle which I hated as it just becomes a mishmash.

Was hoping for either Kiln or Beast of Reincarnation.

Re: Ubisoft Cancels 6 Games In Major Organisation Restructure

CaptainQuo

Ubisoft, EA & Activision-Blizzard are three companies that have made terrible games for years. Very few of their flagship franchises are interesting anymore. Once EA screwed over Maxis, Redwood, Bioware and other studios, from the 2010's they were awful. The other two have mostly been awful anyway apart from Diablo & Rayman.

Won't lose sleep over this.

Re: "I'm Excited To Meet You" - Devon Pritchard Makes Her First Public Appearance As President Of NoA

CaptainQuo

@BAN I'm 39 and have been gaming since I was 4 as well. I don't understand where you are coming from at all. Nintendo has always been a business out to make money. The fact they have a different ethos is why I like their products and some of their employees and always preferred them to competitors, but they are still a business.

Nothing has really changed except I am older and wiser. I am equally confused by people who say things like "I already have 48,611 copies of this but will buy to support the developer." These are businesses, not football clubs. They do not need nor deserve such misplaced, unwavering loyalty.

If you want a product, buy it. But you may not need it.

@hcfwesker I would love if she had pronouns in her bio, it would upset all the right people who need to re-assess their priorities in life rather than being offended by people wanting relatable stories with social commentary in their games. Next you'll be telling me Charles Dickens was woke for writing about poverty.

Especially that stupid 'Woke Game Detector' that people unironically use.

@Johnny_Arthur The Mexican President is doing all the things most leaders should be doing.

She is a scientist, is in favour of sustainable development and has enshrined social programmes into law to protect the most vulnerable.

What is wrong with that?

Here in Scotland we had Nicola Sturgeon who also helped to protect the most vulnerable. That is what we pay them for, not to roll over to rich billionaires.

Re: Best Kirby Games Of All Time

CaptainQuo

Kirby's Adventure has to be number 1.

Also Kirby's Avalanche has been done dirty here. I'm not a puzzle fan usually, but Puyo Puyo and its derivatives reign supreme, second only to Tetris.

Re: Best Zelda Games Of All Time

CaptainQuo

A Link to the Past should be #1, and Zelda II has been unfairly castigated here. It's much better than the original, and 10x better than Skyward Sword, Wind Waker or Four Swords.

Re: "Go Tell Nintendo" - Ex-Blizzard President Responds After Xbox Calls Exclusives "Antiquated"

CaptainQuo

Microsoft never really had any seriously good, truly exclusive games. Even the Xbox360, which was actually a pretty good console, didn't have too many interesting, unique exclusives other than Viva Pinata and other Rare games. Most could be played on PC. That is why their systems actually fail.

I'm not surprised they have struggled to keep up. Exclusives are why people buy consoles. Its why people love Nintendo - you can't buy their first party games anywhere else.

Exclusivity kept Sony going when they should have lost to the Wii & 360, whether that was Blu-ray winning the format wars or lots of JRPG and SRPG franchises like Demon Souls, Bloodborne, Final Fantasy, Disgaea and many more.

Re: "It Will Have A Chilling Effect On Game Design" - EU Group Responds To 'Stop Killing Games'

Idiots influenced by what American "gamer culture" thinks "anti-consumer" means. Meanwhile they don't care about predatory business practices involving, for example, water companies polluting their water.

Just vote with your wallet. These are consumer goods companies making electronics that you can choose not to buy, and "anti-consumer" means anti-capitalism, not whatever impotent nonsense this is.

Stop supporting mindless consumer capitalism - that is what anti-consumerism really is.
