@Tasuki I think it goes far deeper than putting a cross in a box. None of the candidates have been appealing for some time due to their failure to provide adequate solutions. Thatcher & Reagan's legacy in the UK & U.S was to push the Overton window further right economically and push the lessaiz-faire, neo-liberal idea that public spending works like a household budget and spending must be reigned in.
The result of which, much like in the 1920's, is that working people get squeezed financially while public services and living standards collapse and the rich hoard what is left, leading to increasingly desperate people to vote for populist parties, many on the right being especially nasty and hateful.
People like Trump and Farage are merely a symptom of 40 years of neo-liberal economic orthodoxy that sees the most vulnerable blamed while the rich profit.
@Anguspuss Food in the US was never cheap, unless they are eating out (although even this is getting ridiculous, they have started tipping 30% which is madness). It's insanely expensive to buy groceries, because they prioritise cheap consumer goods over everything else. Yay for the American Nightmare.
With the tariffs and current warmongering, the cost of living is only going up higher to the point even cheap electronics won't keep the masses from revolting against their Dear Leader.
I've added it to my Wishlist but it looks like this dev haven't really done a game on this sort of scale before, so not sure how this one will turn out.
I like the concept. It makes me think of Steambot Chronicles on PS2, which I never got to try.
I'll be honest, I'm not noticing a huge difference. But I'm not really bothered by resolutions and framerate unless its really, really laggy or blurry. I just want my games to be fun.
I still don't understand the logic of buying Digital instead of GKC, even though I don't like GKC's.
Digital is the reason we have GKCs in the first place. Utterly bonkers. Like choosing to drink sour milk because you don't like milk. You aren't supporting physical media. You're hastening its downfall.
@Otoemetry While I get your point about BDS, that differs very much as we are talking about companies tied to a country where there are very serious crimes being committed that is also making headline news globally. Not sure you can compare to a gaming company for selling GKC's.
Also for those arguing we should buy digital instead of GKCs.....isn't that just hastening the death of physical media? Digital versions are the reason we are in this mess. Seems utterly bonkers.
@Kisame83 I'm not defending anything here, and I have no clue why you believe my expression of dislike for people lazily re-using such a limited vocabulary of overused internet buzzwords is being viewed as a defence of low-quality filler.
Also boycotting a multi-million pound company operating in multiple markets doesn't work. Boycotts only work for smaller, localised actions that can be targeted to reduce sales in a particular region or a smaller local/national company provided there is enough press coverage. See the current issue with Rockstar North illegally sacking employees under UK law. Most people responded "shut up and take my money."
I don't like GKC's and will avoid where possible, but I don't think we have a choice, and I don't like people gloating about the death of physical media either.
Both groups are pretty awful in the way they express themselves.
Like I said, nuance is not allowed on the internet anymore. Everything must be polarising 'black vs white' nonsense.
@Zeeba I'm not defending them, you absolute numpty.
I'm saying people are only buying them because they don't have the option to buy non-GKCs. You could have had your odd little personal snipe at any number of comments here that were fairly unequivocal in their defence of GKCs.
I just want to remind people that It's possible to be against Game Key Cards in principle and still buy them, given that it the only way to play a physical copy of certain games. You simply don't have a choice.
People taking sales of GKC's as evidence that people must want them is odd, but not shocking anymore since nuance has been dead for some time.
Picking between a bad option and a worse option does not mean the bad option is now suddenly good.
I do a bit of a Gary Oak and ditch early game Pokemon for my preferred ones, so I think the issue is how you play the game.
I rarely keep the early game bird and often in subsequent playthroughs ditch the starters and pick new Pokemon I've never used.
What I wanted to see, pretty much since Red & Blue (I got quite obsessive about it) was starter Pokemon and early game variety in wild Pokemon. For example, first three starters could be Ice, Ground, Rock. Or Fighting, Psychic & Dark.
With the Pokedex getting increasingly huge, what if they slightly randomised Pokémon placement (but not levels) so you get a level 1 Wingull and someone else gets a level 1 Murkrow in the early routes.
@andykara2003 My recommendation would be FireRed/LeafGreen, but HeartGold/SoulSilver are also good options.
As a man pushing 40, I found Lets Go Pikachu/Eeevee far too easy and oversimplified, like they were dumbing it down for younger children. If the other Switch titles are anything like that I would avoid them.
@Uncle_Franklin It's complicated (she was abusive), but effectively, yes. She doesn't even play games, thinks they are a waste of time and even actively stopped me playing them.
The games they had are probably ridiculously expensive now (and would have been back then). Especially Infinite Space.
I bought a 3DS a few years ago for similar reasons to buying the Switch 2 (backwards compatibility as my ex never game me my DS or PSP back). I haven't really played it much though to be honest.
The credence and credibility modern gamer "culture" if you can call it that, lends to leakers is so frustrating.
Bad for the studios, but even worse for gaming as a hobby as online clout becomes more important than anything else in society.
As if to prove my point, the usual thin-skinned basement dwellers are out in force to probably organise a short-lived boycott of this guys games. The online gamer equivalent of running away from home and only making it to the end of the street.
Last Gen that I played, and not really that much tbh. Most of the 'mons I know from playing a lot more Pokemon Conquest than Black & White, even though I did play Black.
I like Darmanitan, Hydreigon, Elektross, Chubchoo, Garvantula & Zebstrika. I'm a sucker for unique typings.
Hydreigon is my favourite design.
At some point, they seemed to go a bit crazy for adding a billion Legendaries and mega evolutions made it even more unbalanced. Also they didn't cover every Japanese region, which makes me sad.
Lots of cool designs (excuse the pun), such as Abomasnow, Torterra, Toxicroak, Skorupi, Stunky and Driftloon. Lots of cool new poison types.
Torterra wins it for me, though this is at the point I stopped playing as much Pokemon as I didn't get a DS and Diamond until much later when people were probably playing Gen 5 or 6.

Re: Feature: Nintendo May Win Its Case Against The US Government, But Tariffs Are Here To Stay
@Uncle_Franklin Because American Conservatives have never dealt in empirical facts or evidence, only "opinion."
I noticed in way back it the 90's, and I notice it is even worse now.

@GoldenSunRM You are allowed an opinion, but don't get upset because people will judge you for it.
Free speech goes both ways.
Re: Feature: Nintendo May Win Its Case Against The US Government, But Tariffs Are Here To Stay
@Emacster I don't need to google it because I live here. My speech hasn't been infringed at all and I'm pretty vocal and outspoken.
It absolutely matters if you are wrong, because you would be parroting blatant propaganda.
Re: Feature: Nintendo May Win Its Case Against The US Government, But Tariffs Are Here To Stay
@Emacster Interesting way to defend the spread of blatant misinformation and propaganda.
I live in the UK. I would know if we didn't have free speech.
Re: Feature: Nintendo May Win Its Case Against The US Government, But Tariffs Are Here To Stay
@Emacster You said "approach politics without bias" and "the UK doesn't have free speech" in the same comment.
Are you just upset by any partisanship that you aren't sailing in?

Yanks are skint. Heating your home and feeding your kids takes priority when you're skint.

Re: Poll: Who's Your Favourite Resident Evil Villain?
Nicolai for just being a personification of greed and ambition. Killing people on his own side for money.
He is the absolute picture of a Russian mercenary in an organisation like the Wagner Group. Or the US's own Blackwater.
Re: Europe Might Be Forcing Nintendo To Revise The Switch 2
@The21zonz Libertarians don't want other people's lives to be easier. Unless they are millionaires.
As the late, great Christopher Hitchens said: "You don't need to make a virtue out of selfishness, because human beings are already selfish."
Curious that right-leaning Libertarians only care about unchecked power when the state does it - but never greedy corporations.
Re: Nintendo Expands Switch 2's GameCube Library This Week
Wanted the original GC game but within a year of release it had already rebounded to it's original price for a second hand copy.
From there it hovered around £50-60 for a couple of years before getting more and more expensive/scarce.
Currently fetches £200 on eBay which is nuts.

Re: Review: Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly Remake (Switch 2) - Great Atmosphere But Never Quite Comes Into Focus
Was excited for this as I loved the original, shame about the tech issues and the GKC.
Enjoyed the demo and will buy this eventually - I never completed it on the Xbox but got pretty far.

@Kisame83 Expand your vocabulary. You could call it a lot of things without resorting to using the word 'slop' every two minutes.

Re: Nintendo "Cagey" About Letting Games On Switch 2, Wants To Avoid "Slop Fest"
Our vocabularies have become so limited and monolingual, it's depressing. Everything is described as "slop" now.
I hope they clean up the original dross on the Switch 1 as well.

@Lord Sold out already unfortunately.

Generation Pack will be getting scalped and sold on eBay by opportunists. Normally sells for £80, now on eBay for £122 and above already.

If only my eyes could get over the Minecraft-esque blocky visual style.
Re: Nintendo Indie World Showcase Announced For Tomorrow, 3rd March 2026
Once again, for all those complaining about no general 1st party Direct - why don't you play your "backlog" you keep wittering on about?
Or stop buying so many games you apparently don't have time to play.
Re: Quiz: Can You Name That Pokémon?
23/25 isn't bad given I haven't played since Black/White, and didn't know half of the last two Gens.
Re: Final: What's Your Favourite Pokémon Ever? - Pick From Our 9 Poll Winners
I will never understand why people like Lucario or Greninja.
Re: Poll: So, Which Starter Will You Choose In Pokémon Winds & Waves?
Pombon, naturally. Fire is the best type and Pom is the cutest.
Re: He-Man's Arcade-Style Retro Brawler Locks In A Release Date For Switch
Unfortunately I don't think they will release the physical edition in Europe if Limited Run are handling it.
The trailer was really good and I especially loved the hard rock power ballad.

Re: Marvel Maximum Collection Revives Six Classic Superhero Titles On Switch
Another collection of games where 90% can easily be played on an emulator.
The only stand out is the X-Men arcade game.
Maximum Carnage has a surprisingly faithful cover of The Mob Rules by Black Sabbath though

Mastering the art of turning tech demos into games people pay money for. I think the trailer is enough to whet (or should that be wet?) my appetite.

Re: Ori Dev Shows 'No Rest For The Wicked' Running On Switch 2

Re: Ren & Stimpy Are Getting A 7-Game Retro Collection, Courtesy Of Limited Run
Just play them free on an emulator as this is a rip-off for what you actually get.

Re: Nintendo Is Considering A Switch 2 Price Hike This Year, According To New Report
Haven't we been told they are "considering" a price increase repeatedly for the last 8 months?
This of course, will all be somehow only Nintendo's fault even though they're all doing it.
Just buy less games/consoles and get one second hand, it's not that hard.
