I'd argue its more down to availability, if its anything like as scarce in Japan. Tomodachi Life has been sold out for over a month here in the UK, only just back in stock.
I feel like this visual style works for a JRPG like Octopath where battles happen on a separate screen, but it looks incredibly messy in an Action RPG. It's the main thing putting me off. Well, that and the GKC.
I already made a submission with the contact form, but I remember how expensive the games were and going months without a new game.
The only thing keeping me sane was being able to rent from Blockbuster Video (still a thing, for a while longer) and trade in at my local indie game store, Solid Gold Games in Aberdeen (sadly not still a thing). They organised all their games into A & B games, you pay a flat £10 for swapping like for like and either £5 more or less depending on if you were swapping an A for a B etc.
I managed to get F1 World Grand Prix for only £5 because the sequel came out the week before.
Fire Emblem: Fortunes Weave
Metaphor ReFantazio
Stella Blade
Orbitals
StarFox
Big Walk
Lies of P
Muramasa: Revenant Blades
Xenoblade Genesis
Final Fantasy Resonance
The Duskbloods
Splatoon Raiders
Atelier Karia: The Night Kingdom & the Guide of Memories
Tales of Eternia Remastered
My cup runneth over. And yet some people are still whining. That's not even counting stuff like Turok: Origins, Resident Evil Veronica, 007 First Light and Culdcept: The First that did not get a mention but are releasing this year.
Only big miss was Clair Obscure and maybe another first party announcement.
Expedition 33
Metaphor ReFantazio
Persona 6
Mario Kart DLC
New Star Fox
New Kirby
New Mario
Culdcept Begins info
Other 3rd party announcements, including games not yet announced to be coming for Switch 2
Release dates for Duskbloods, Orbitals & Fire Emblem
Please Ninty, no Ocarina remake. That is likely what we will get though.
I don't get some of you people. Elden Ring is a fantastic game. You don't need to be "hardcore" or "elitist" to enjoy it either, its not that hard. Don't be so hysterical and melodramatic.
It's the most accessible of all the Souls games, in fact. There are people who dislike most Souls games who LOVE this. Some people just have a strange chip on their shoulder.
After the excitement of the initial reveal, I'm not really sure what to make of this still. Feeling kind of 'meh' about it.
I want new StarFox, so maybe this will be the start of more releases. It wouldn't be the first time Ninty revived dead franchises (i.e Metroid, Fire Emblem, Advance Wars, Famicom Detective Club).
@Shepdawg1 Nintendo has understandably been banging this drum since the early Wii era.
They were ridiculed for it at the time (not helped by 3rd party publishers releasing half-baked ports by 2nd or 3rd string dev teams) but they were right.
Whenever I see a hyper realistic screenshot I just shrug my shoulders. Eternal Sonata on the 360/PS3 is as stunning as any game released now. Cel shading and pre rendering made some pretty games even in the early 2000s.
Graphics have always been a bit of a d**k measuring contest.
@JackieCMarlow If that was the only reason you bought it, maybe you should have waited until they announced Mario or Zelda before buying it?
But I suspect you're being facetious and hyperbolic. There's no way you could possibly only like those games and nothing else.
@JohntheRaptor There are some people that wantonly throw money at every single system. People that buy every system going are very much the minority of consumers. If I don't want to spend extortionate money on more than one console, then yes, I'll buy the 3rd party games on Switch 2.
Am I the only person that really liked Assault on the GC?
Please no remakes. I never actually played Lylat Wars much as I didn't own it, but if I wanted to play it (and I will eventually) I would buy the N64 cartridge.
@ThatOnePenguin I don't have a religion. You can't say you love LGBT people while objecting to them having a video game that takes them into consideration.
@DadJKP We are in a situation where the US President admitted to actively funding Conservative, far-right politics across Europe. America has always been an unhinged loony bin of extreme views. We don't want that here.
Since 2016, people like you have popped up to force your intolerance and we are, frankly, sick of it.

Will these also be getting a UK release?

Re: Anime Co-Op Platformer 'Orbitals' Finally Picks Up A Release Date, Exclusively On Switch 2
@EVIL-C Interesting, I've heard nothing about a physical release either and now I'm wondering how I missed that.
Re: Round Up: The First Previews Are In For Alien: Isolation 2
I'm expecting the usual boring people to parrot the usual stuff about some of these outlets doing the previews.....
Excited for a sequel after all these years and love the idea of setting it on a colony like LV426.

Re: Metaphor: ReFantazio Is Finally Getting A Release On Switch 2
I imagine we are still getting Persona 6 but due to working on this, they maybe have to push it back on Switch 2 a bit.

Re: Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition Will Finally Rise On Switch 2 This August
@DarkCoolEdge No, the message is going to be that you want digital instead.
Which is the whole reason we have Game Key Cards even though we would rather not. Why do you people STILL not understand this?
Re: Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition Will Finally Rise On Switch 2 This August

Re: Square Enix Has "No Plans" To Sell A Switch 2 Upgrade For Dragon Quest XI S
If that means the S1 version plummets in price 2nd hand then that's good for me.
Re: Dragon Quest XI Gets The 'Definitive Edition' Treatment (Again) For Switch 2
As others have said - upgrade please? I don't own it yet, so I'm hoping this will push the price of the Switch version down a bit.
Re: Round Up: The Reviews For 007 First Light Are In
I feel like people dislike Kotaku for reasons other than whether they write good copy, so are being needlessly critical.....
What they wrote made plenty of sense to me.
Re: Random: Don't Be Fooled By Google Play Store's Tomodachi Life Clones
It's such an in-demand game, which is probably why this would work on people who didn't know better or are desperate to play it.
They can't find the game in stores or aren't allowed access by a parent to purchase the online download so they download a free version.
Re: Review: Rugrats: Retro Rewind Collection (Switch) - A Janky Compilation Carried By Nostalgia
I said at the time this was going to be bad, and I was right.
The review nailed it: shameless cash-in of nostalgia. These weren't even good at the time, and must feel even worse to play now.
Re: Survival Horror 'The Florist' Looks Like Classic Resident Evil In All The Right Ways
I'm not sure I'd be that scared by Bill & Ben, the Flower Pot Men. If it wasn't for the theme, I'd be much more excited.
Re: Amazon Pre-Order Listing Puts Pokémon Winds & Waves At €80
For a UK website, you really do have an aversion to giving us an equivalent in pound sterling, NL.
But yes, this means nothing and yet will send people into a tizzy regardless. Can't go a day without faux outrage on the internet now, can we?

Re: All Delisted Nintendo Switch 1 & 2 Games Missing From The eShop
@KingMike I'm talking about the DS game.
Re: All Delisted Nintendo Switch 1 & 2 Games Missing From The eShop
Gutted about Fire Emblem. A boxed physical copy is now obscenely expensive as well.
Also disappointed about the Neo Geo games.
Re: UK Charts: Tomodachi Life Beats Saros To Reclaim Number One
Tomodachi is sold out everywhere. The people 'boycotting' it won't be happy about that.
Although I hope they keep releasing new stock as I do want it at some point.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (2nd May)
FANTASIAN Neo Dimension
Fire Emblem Engage
Octopath Traveler II
13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim
Emio - The Smiling Man: Famicom Detective Club
Re: Random: Gamer Buys Dodgy Copy Of Pragmata And Breaks Their Switch 2
@Dr_Corndog A Game Key Card murdered my whole family and is now squatting in my house AND my Switch 2.
WHY Nintendo WHY.
GKCs are worse than physical, but still better than digital.
Re: Random: Gamer Buys Dodgy Copy Of Pragmata And Breaks Their Switch 2
@Serpenterror Do you get paid for your comment by the number of times you use the word 'fake' and its derivatives?
Re: Bethesda Reminds Switch 2 Fans Its "Physical Code-In-Box" Editions Of Fallout 4 And Skyrim Are Now Available
People whinge about GKC's but yet buy or advocate for digital copies or code in the box releases.
It's like they don't have the brain capacity to understand that, while GKC's suck, the existence of digital is why we have them in the first place.
Re: Tomodachi Life: Living The Dream Was Reportedly Feature-Complete A Year Ago
Learned some lessons from previous generations, such as the Gamecube and N64 eras.

@SAHD-Mike Then you are conveniently ignoring all of human history. Religion always gets used this way.
Re: Review: Tomodachi Life: Living The Dream (Switch) - BREAKING NEWS: Mii Life Is Still Bizarre, Hilarious, And A Bit Samey
@DadJKP I think you're confused at what the differences are between facts and truth.
Facts are objective. Truth is subjective. Simply put, you are masquerading your opinions as some sort of empirical fact.
Morality is relative and ever changing. We used to think burning people at the stake or human sacrifice was acceptable.
Being overtly judgmental of how others live is, by itself, morally unpleasant.

You seem to have confused Sex & Gender, which are two different things.
Re: Review: Tomodachi Life: Living The Dream (Switch) - BREAKING NEWS: Mii Life Is Still Bizarre, Hilarious, And A Bit Samey
@Polvasti There's no point arguing with these people. They aren't rational.
Most people logically conclude that people can identify how they want and it hurts no-one. Live and let live.
