As someone who lives in Australia, I'd say these prices are very reasonable. The American yearly price of $20 USD goes to about $25 AUD, so it's not perfect, but it's nice to see they haven't spiked up the prices too much.
@ClassSonicSatAm Doesn’t mean they can’t talk about it, particularly given the reasons provided in the article. I, for one, found it interesting. If you don’t care about it then you don’t have to read.
It's a litte disappointing but nothing catastrophic. The graphics look pretty great as it is and portable DOOM is something I just can't say no to. Plus a steady framerate is generally more important in my opinion.
@Vegeta937 Just cause I miss one quote means I didn't read the article? Besides it doesn't detract from my point. If it works well on switch it will become the best way to play thanks to the portability. And the game was horribly optimized when it first released with other issues such as flat and bland levels that haven't been fixed but potentially could be. Still I have my doubts.
Also prefacing a rude preconceived statement with "not to be rude" is pointless.
So let me get this straight. Yacht Club Games could make Shovel knight for $75,000, but these people won't be able to make a rapping game for anything less than 1.1 Million.
I'm sorry but 'My Nintendo' is just a straight up disappointment. These rewards don't change that. Get on it Nintendo, start serving some quality please, the loyalists such as myself need some love.
@FragRed I see your point, but there is an astonishing lack of F-Zero, Metroid, Punch Out, Earthbound/Mother, Warioware, Kid Icarus, Pikmin, Pokémon, Animal Crossing, Paper Mario, Donkey Kong, Starfox, Smash Bros and Kirby. I'm not saying I want all of these games or that the games coming out don't look good. but least one strong return be nice. Hence, I'm looking forward to E3.
I'm struggling to see who the target audience is. People that want a 2d 3ds for their kids will get the cheaper 2ds, people that are old enough will want the better 3d XL version and will probably just fork out the bit of extra money, or else get the cheaper smaller version with 3d.
Part of what makes the original 2ds work was that it was good for kids. Durability, lack of a hinge and how easy it was for younger kids to hold made it work, this new one is just a slightly less expensive version of the original. Additionally anyone that would really want a 3ds has probably already bought one of the 5 versions by now, the people left over are probably looking for the best and/or cheapest option of which this is neither.
An interesting read for sure. But while I'm under the impression that Indie developers do need good support by Nintendo, I think some strong AAA titles are also going to be needed for the console to really take off. A strong amount of both is really the dream.
Can hardly say I'm all that surprised. It always seems a rather common yet unfortunate result of Nintendo's 3rd party support that they're eventually moved to other consoles. There are many exceptions but also many similar cases; and its a little sad. Remember ZombiU haha.
Well I work at EB games and not gonna lie its been in our system since it was announced, and the placeholder price hasn't changed... I honestly don't think its very significant.
Some people need to realise this is a closed beta/ closed feild test. This footage wasnt even intended to be shown, im sure some elements could and will be changed (such as the amount of pokemon). As for the graphics who cares, it looks good enough especially since it is utalising a real time real world GPS map. People cant expect a 3ds graphic style out of a game designed like this that needs to be played on as many phones as possible, be them powerful or not.
@Fee Congratulations you pointed out some spelling errors. 3 to be precise. You also dodge the point repeatedly in your continually pathetic arguments; as I pointed out in my previous statement if you were patient enough to actually read it.
Notice how your entire last 3 paragraphs were informing me I'm incorrect about... spelling and grammar. You avoid the argument I'm making, being that graphics is less important than just about anything else in video games.
People might think your mad because you go on and on about irrelevant things with no actual evidence to support your statements of "everything if your post is wrong", hence making you sound like an 8 year old that guessed the password to their mums computer. I made 3 mistakes that you pointed out, then implied majority of my spelling is fine unlike you retorted in a single statement. Then made a P.S about your hypocrisy, and suddenly that's adequate to tell me I'm wrong about my original statement made a week ago.
Stop being a fool and get to the point. You've provided no evidence, no relevant facts and no actual information about why I'm wrong in saying that graphics don't make a game, which is the entire point of all of my arguments as I've stated repeatedly.
You can't just say - "I'm not going to bother talking about the rest" and leave it at that, you've said nothing to support you thinking this game is terrible due to graphical incongruity. If this was an actual debate you would have already lost 400 times over, you cant just stand up, say "THE OPPONENTS ARE WRONG AND HAVE POOR ENGLISH" and sit back down again.
P.S - You started this mate, you responded to my original post with incorrect information about a fraction of my statement, I'm only responding because YOU challenged ME. I don't take lightly to people that are wrong and simply call me stupid without any substance to their argument.
P.P.S - This is hilarious. I guess we just don't take each other seriously.
@Fee Lmao dude. Calm down. My emails not the one that's broken so don't try to tell me I'm the moron here.
Your 'joke' was a terrible joke.
My spelling was not wrong.
If you're not talking about specs (which involves graphics) what are you talking about, this entire article is about graphics is it not.
It's a free country I can post what I wish
My entire point is that games don't have to look great to be great. If you're a Nintendo fan how can you think that's wrong, did super Mario brothers 3 suddenly start being awful when the 'prettier' New super Mario Brothers was released? Go play Star Wars Battlefront or something if you want to be impressed with graphics instead of gameplay. It might stop you from making juvenile jabs at a game that hasn't completed development, and doesn't even look that bad by modern standards.
What did I miss? please inform me.
P.S - If you want to insult my English you might first want to work on your sentence structure; as it is awful. Please read your last sentence if you want verification of that statement.
@IceClimbers - Understood, I do generally agree with fallout 4 not being a great example, but it was modern and relevent so seemed to fit. DMC Definitive edition is another example I suppose, but it doesn't really matter. The point is that it is never gonna look as good as some AAA party titles on other consoles that are simply more powerful.
@Fee - Although I technically was never impressed with TTYD's graphics, and if you compare them on the devices they're designed to be played on I still beleive Sticker Star to 'look better'. But even then TTYD does definantly not look better than thousands of modern games but you sill obviously love it, likley implying you liked the gameplay, story and the 'graphical style'. Which many people have been saying nintendo has been trying to achieve with Stat Fox. Also unless you are blind it is impossibe to compare this graphically to Starwing.
I feel like most people saying this looks like a ps2 game have not played a ps2 in a long time, and are utalising graphical nostalgia which makes the games look better in your head than they are in real life due to how fondly you remember them.
This game does not look as good as many Wii U games or even some 360 and PS3 games. But the reality is it doesn't need to. Solid gameplay and framerate are key. Ocarina of Time had terrible graphics for the time when i first played it around 2008 but it's still my favourite game because of everything else featured.
Gameplay, story and fun-factor all trump graphics 100 times over. Even though this game looks better than any high end Ps2 game out there.
Regardless don't stress have fun with it. You should buy a game for the content not because of the graphical style. Why else do you think people still prefer:
OOT over twilight princess Super Wario World over New Super Mario Bros U Star fox 64 over Star Fox Assault Paper Mario Thousand Year Door over Sticker Star Melee over Brawl and SSB4
The list goes on. With those only being Nintendo examples.
Also don't try to explain that it graphics should improve over the years. Style is style. Rouge Legacy, Shovel Knight and Minecraft all have technically 'bad graphics' if you compare them to Fallout 4 and the likes. Yet are all excellent games. Just enjoy what arrives and don't buy it if you don't want it - instead of whinging over something as insignificant as a few extra polygons.
Although a lot of peope wanted him to step down (myself not nessisary included) it is heartwarming to see the comminity combine in times like this to say: thank you Iwata, for making every one of our childhoods (and even adult lives) great and amazingly fun.
Could you imagine if at E3 they announced Mother/Earthbound 3 for e-shop and a new Mother/Earthbound game for Wii U or 3ds like Mother/Earthbound 4. Screw Kim Kardashian; that would break the internet.
"The Humble Nindie Bundle is region-locked and can only be redeemed on North, Central, and South American Wii U and 3DS consoles (with the exception of Brazil). See full list of countries here."
Live in Australia and already got the XL so maybe not. Still It's be pretty sweet to have one, even though I don't really see any major changes. They're great by the way. Best $250 (150 pound) i've ever spent
Wow, to be honest I am an Aussie and even then im so used to getting everything nintendo related last that i'm not really phased by this, one big thing isnt gong to change a thousand small things that actually did annoy me. But to all those complaing about us having 'special' treatment just shhhh, frankly i'm just happy we have something for once at all, gotta remember everything here is overpriced as hell, as well as the fact we barely have club nintendo, eshop support ect. Nintendo is dying in Australia however this could be the start of a comback!?
I love this. EA please understand. Many mature people play Mario and Zelda for nostalgia. Many Immature people play games like battlefield to look 'cool' Its just sad that EA doesn't see that they probably have a larger kiddy market (at the moment). So, 'Clap,Clap' EA, 'Clap,Clap'
Personally I dont mind the look of the graphics or the AI. It is very early beta.
However the concept I cant stand. Zelda games are meant to be about adventure and character development, not mindless beat-em-ups. Im still finding it hard to believe that nintendo would just slap one of their most precious IP's on this game.

Some pretty great stuff this week, although I have to admit. I'm all about the new Metroid.

Re: Playtonic Gives Update On Yooka-Laylee For Switch
I'd be nice if they fixed some of the glaring issues with the other versions. Maybe then the Switch version will become the definitive way to play.
Then again they did release a poorly optimised game with other glaring gameplay issues so I'm not sure how much I trust Playtonic anyway.
Re: Feature: Just How Bad Is Hori's Wired 'Solution' For Switch Voice Chat?
It's actually amazing just how badly Nintendo handled such a fundamental and simple a thing as in-game voice chat.
I'm just gonna stick to discord at the moment and hope that Nintendo fixes this garbage one day.
Re: Ubisoft España Tweet States Beyond Good & Evil is Coming to Nintendo Switch
It's really exciting if it's true but frankly, it's ubisoft, so I'm not gonna get my hopes up.

@Spoony_Tech Meh it's all good man I don't mind.
Re: Nintendo Direct for ARMS is Coming on 17th May
I hope that Nintendo knocks it out of the park with this one.
No pun intended.
Seriously though, I'm not entirely convinced on ARMS yet, so I think a good direct could be just what's needed to get me excited.

Something seems fishy.

Re: Gallery: Medicom's Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Link Figure Will Drain Your Stamina Gauge And Bank Balance
Whilst it's very expensive I can't exactly complain about it. It's a collector's item and it looks well crafted to me.
I just don't think I'd ever be quite comfortable spending that much on a figure personally, though I know some people that most certainly would.

Hopefully the iQue partnership will remain strong and bring them a big advantage with the Chinese Market
