I really hope we see a Bravely Default 3 before Octopath 3, but I hope we get both eventually. These games (especially Bravely series) have taken the place of traditional turn-based Final Fantasy games for me.
@Anachronism I would compare it more to any other Fornite-style season, where you can play through it and get some goodies for free, or buy a season pass and get twice as much. You're not wrong about the game though. I've played Sky more than any other game on my Switch with 650+ hours clocked.
I stopped playing when the f2p update released because instead of playing the game to earn cool costumes now you open your wallet for cool costumes and play the game for the generic less-interesting ones.
I feel like I'm one of the few doing so, but I have every icon element released so far (except I still need some of the new batch of ACNL ones) and frankly Nintendo doesn't offer enough ways to get Platinum Points to sustain this. The only way I've managed to keep up so far is by clearing the 100 point FE:Heroes missions whenever I'm running short on points and eventually those will run out.
It's also pretty dumb that you can't mix elements from different games.
@mnakoff After creating an icon you can go to your icons list and hit Y to "post to social media" so you might be able to get a nice copy to another device that way.
@Wilforce What's the deal with the 3DS one? I just tried mine and it seems to work fine. Digital copy of the game on an un-modded n3DS with current firmware.
@Psycho-Werekitsune @Lizzyroo I tried Amazon support and they told me:
"I'm afraid that there is currently a technical issue from the game developers end, few codes for few order have not been sent, so in this case, it would be suggestible to contact the game developer as they will issue a new code for you right away."
Then they linked me to NOA's support page., then NOA support told me:
"I'm afraid that since the code was offered by Amazon, they are the ones who will have to provide the code." and "That's unacceptable that they would sell more codes than were available. You could always reach out to the BBB if Amazon will not provide the code."
Nothing like a good old-fashioned game of blame shifting from corporations that results in the customer being SOL.
@nocdaes The point of the video is to generate clicks from the hot game of the moment. Why else would NintendoLife be going so hard into coverage of a game that didn't even review that well on their site?
@Moroboshi876 Except in this case it's just that Nintendo Life seems to have simply not looked beyond the tweet from a WayForward member today about it. With a very quick reverse image search you can see that the typo was spotted as early as 4 days after release and posted on reddit, and was patched less than a month after release with the corrected screenshot posted on twitter.
A quick reverse image search to see if this was really "new" info lead me to a tweet from Jan 2018 showing the typo had been fixed. I don't own the game so I can't check but...?
Between the fact that MW4 Classic is physical only and the predatory way they stripped most of the games out of Space Invaders Invincible Collection to release as Space Invaders Forever, only to wait 8 months and then release Space Invaders Invincible Collection in full with no upgrade option, I'm am NOT a fan of ININ Games at all and I wish a better company had the rights to those classic properties.
I recently redeemed the WarioWare pins set, but when I went to the store to order them I realized they had recently increased US shipping from $5 to $7. It's not a big difference, but it's enough to make you rethink paying that much for a "free" reward.
I'd love to hear about that Castlevania Advance Collection that was rated, but this seems to lay out that they just have announcements for new content for those two listed games.
The ideal "New Nintendo Handheld" for me would be a Switch that's smaller than the Switch Lite (maybe a clamshell design to make it smaller in the pocket) that also includes docking functionality. Throw in NSO GBA and we're golden.
I've been a proponent for the handheld/console hybrid future since long before anyone knew Switch was coming. I love handhelds, but being able to switch my play session from my pocket to the TV at will is huge for me, and has been since I got my Super Game Boy.
Super annoyed at this. I bought Space Invaders Forever figuring they were just screwing the west over by making the rest of the games only available on the Strictly Limited physical copies. Turns out they were screwing us over even more than that. I'd have dropped $60 for this collection had I not bought that one, but since I did I'm waiting for a sale, which will take forever and not be much of a discount because this is ININ Games we're talking about and they're an absolutely garbage publisher from my limited experience with their releases.
The only reason I ordered physical is because it's such a big game, if the cart requires me to download the whole thing anyway I'd rather not need the cart in my system, especially since I have two Switches I play on.
I have plenty of Picross games on Switch, and while I usually welcome more, what I don't have is a copy of Chicken Wiggle (Hatch Tales) that I gave Atooi money for over 3 years ago and haven't had so much as a Kickstarter update in 8 months. Maybe we should hold devs accountable for such behavior, even if it's just a footnote in an article about a brand new surprise game they've apparently been developing on their backers' time and money.
On one hand, that sounds excessive. On the other hand, if you ever sign an NDA for any reason you should know what you're risking if you break it. Chances are these people knew they would be in big trouble if caught and risked it anyway just for some internet fame.
Hold up, I just noticed this game doesn't support Cloud Saves. How can something like Monster Hunter get by fine with them but Nintendo adds online vs. to a game and instantly disables Cloud Saves?
@KingMike The original music for World 1 - 4 sounds quite a bit like Somewhere Over the Rainbow, probably intentional, but the NES version (at least in NA) had a new song (which I liked better tbh.)
I just want a port of Rainbow Islands tbh. Don't know if there's copyright issues if they released anything other than the NES version with the changed music though.
I already hate the entire FOMO marketing strategy that all of these limited print physical publishers use. At first I understood, these were games that would undersell, but now we have massively successful digital games then getting FOMO limited print physical runs with absurd markups from the digital price. Now they're just going to start doing physical only so it's now or never?
Sorry, but I'm not going to give an obscure indie game a shot just because I'll never have another chance to play it — I just won't play it period.
I regularly browse the eShop and check out anything remotely interesting looking, so if your game is good there's a good chance it'll pique my interest without you needing to try to exploit me with predatory FOMO marketing.
This game looks really great (although I liked the HD-2D pixel art style better, but it still looks great) but comparing it to Paper Mario is doing it a disservice since it's not an RPG. If an actual Paper Mario game identical to this were announced people would have their torches and pitchforks at the ready since this game doesn't appear to have combat at all. This is an adventure game that just happens to use the paper aesthetic.
"Nintendo has stated that they have no plans at this time of releasing extra downloadable add-ons of any kind for Game Builder Garage. Everything you need to build and create will be contained right inside the game."
Kind of weird to see this when the eShop page says there are in-game purchases.
I'm sure there are people who will enjoy something like this but this seems like the most embellished pitch ever for a game that looks like more than half of the mobile market.
@Dethmunk To be fair, Nintendolife called A Short Hike "Animal Crossing Meets Zelda: Breath of the Wild" on their youtube channel, so as @Tops said above, they just seem to compare every game to whatever Nintendo game they think it looks most like.
I really enjoyed this game, but I fell off early in the first DLC, which is mostly a series of tougher challenge vaults. I haven't tried the second DLC yet because I've been playing other games.
This is just looking better and better. I absolutely loved it on 3DS and it looks even better here. The only downside is the lack of system-side Mii integration, but I've already got around 90 Miis transferred to my Switch and the online Mii sharing gallery is sure to be full of great designs.
@CosmoXY "like you are really staying home anyway"
I'm immunocompromised and have left the house once - for a doctor's appointment - in the last 6 months. Believe it or not some people are taking this stuff seriously.
I played the demo on PC a while back when they had a preview demo for some event. The gameplay loop didn't quite grab me, and I just plain didn't care for the interplay between the two characters. Maybe they've reworked dialog and redone some VO since then but I remember thinking the characters didn't even sound like they really liked each other very much.
This is a terrible package, solely because Invincible Collection exists and the fact that they removed eight titles from that to make this while simultaneously printing an expensive limited run physical cart of the full collection feels like a giant middle finger to fans in the West.
That being said, maybe Nintendo Life should've gotten someone who doesn't hate the original Space Invaders to write this review. There's an awful lot of words up there dedicated to crapping on a game that's not even in the collection (to the dismay of the people who would actually buy this.)
@CrazyOtto No, it's literally Invincible Collection but pared down to 3 games.
If the event was Christmas themed I'd probably be farming the stuff, but this armor set just blends in with the rest of the sets in the game. Fun game, but doesn't really feel like the endless game they want it to be, and even if it were I'd probably rather devote that time to something better.
I've been waiting for this so I can play on my TV from time to time (I have my town on my Switch Lite.)
I'm still hesitant to actually do it until other people report success in the ease and ability to send your town back and forth between two systems without some sort of cooldown time or something.
@Henmii @MPWolfie There is a physical Gold Edition, currently it's up for preorder on the Ubisoft Store (NA only atm I think.) I asked on the official forums and a Ubi rep said the Gold Edition will also be available digitally on the eShop but they can't confirm a date. Also the pre-order bonuses will be included with digital eShop pre-orders.
Looks really cool, I like that the season pass DLCs really change things up.
I'd still love to see a Kid Icarus crossover DLC like they did with Starlink/StarFox. The 4th-wall-breaking Greek Mythology setting makes it perfect for it. Just imagine a Switch exclusive chapter where you play as Pit with Palutena helping narrate.
I'm waiting for more info with the hope that this won't have any arbitrary and dumb restrictions to it. I just want to be able to transfer my entire Island between my Switch Lite and Switch as often as I want.
@Dethmunk DF was pretty negative on Hyrule Warriors Definitive Edition and from what I've seen that runs better than this in every way (at least as of the demo.) I wouldn't hold my breath on Age of Calamity getting much of a performance boost in the final version, but it'll still be a fun game and a must have for BotW lore.

So many people won't even give a chance to games that they haven't already heard of.
