Flyhigh Works has announced that Super Met Boy, not to be confused with the very similarly named Super Meat Boy, is headed to Nintendo Switch.
It's been developed by Japanese indie dev Rebuild Games and is described as a "casual arcade action" game. You take on the role of the game's main character Met Boy – again, not Meat Boy – and defeat enemies on screen, as seen in the trailer above.
It was revealed during today's Flyhigh Express video presentation and will support both co-op and VS-style modes on Switch for up to four players. Alongside Met Boy, you'll also meat – erm, meet – Met Girl, Met Bomber, Met Ninja, Met Knight, Met Viking and Met Sniper.
It's scheduled to launch in Japan in January 2021, and will also receive a worldwide launch. More details on the western release will be shared in due time.
We'll make sure to keep an eye out for more news on that worldwide release over the following months.

This has no reason to be called Super Met Boy and I expect a lawsuit will shortly follow. It just screams of laziness to copy something so trivial as a name.
On the other hand the game does actually look interesting as a time waster/filler. It could really carve out is own niche and should do away with the blatant name rip off.
Interesting. Looks as colourful as Mr. Driller and Puyo Puyo.
@Kiz3000 Is Super Meat Boy even well known in Japan? Might just be a coincidence.
If Super Meat Boy was a Nintendo property, a swift Cease & Desist would be in the mail..!!
Sorry, my dyslexia saw Meat twice
The term "Met" is derived from "Helmet".
Just like the iconic Mega Man enemies, Mettools.
Super MetBoy is likely the Japanese name of the game. If you look closely, the characters in this game are helmets. It'll be likely that the western name for this game will be Super Helmet Boy.
Darn, I thought it was going to be an opera simulator.
awful! I hope their game will be discarted from the shop..parasites
Oh great, looks like another party game that's only fun if you have 3 other friends who've also bought the game and also have the same console, and is boring playing on your own
I remember when party games were fun to play single player offline. I don't wanna play smash bros or Mario kart online because I hate online gaming. And the switch smash bros and especially Mario kart 8 deluxe are very lacking in single player content. There's not even s story mode for mario kart 8. Like, every other karting series does have that, like the Crash one for switch, like all the Sonic karting games. But MK8D is just lazy and a waste of money if you don't like playing online
I love me some simple old school arcade action.... but the aesthetics of this one really don't appeal to me. It looks like a free mobile game.
Imagine trying to finding Super Meat Boy at the eShop and you got this instead. This same problem also apply to games of similar title, I once try to search for Streets of Rage 4 and instead got Streets of Red instead.
