Why is so much importance placed on UK sales all the time? The whole European market isn't even anywhere as big as the US one. Are UK sales indicative of Western sales in general or something?
I'm no tech expert, but this game runs on the FOX Engine which the Switch doesn't support. Isn't it up to Nintendo to approach Konami and make it happen - just like they did with Unreal and Unity?
@Octane How do you know that the cutscenes consist of 2D shots? They skipped every cutscene in the treehouse demo and according to articles they're "Saturday Morning Cartoon-styled cutscenes" with "extensive voice acting". The whole game is even 4GB.
No doubt, there should be more of a difference between this and a game like Zelda, but I'm still baffled by these prices you mentioned. The typical retail price of 3ds games is $39.99 - in some cases $29.99 I guess - and yet this should be even cheaper?
I think $39.99 would be OK, but at the end of the day it's Konami's fault for not showing off all the contents that would justify that price point. Most of what we've seen so far were the early levels.
They created a brand new engine for this, incorporated professional voice acting and lots of animated cutscenes, so expecting it to cost as much as an indie game is a little silly.
Not defending the price though - I had hoped for $40.
So this isn't even optimised 50 Hz? From what I understand most of the 50 Hz releases thus far have been optimised to run at a speed that's similar to 60 Hz. That would be a shame, because I still like the N64 version much better.
Well, you can't really blame any journalists for jumping on this story. He's the official PR guy for a major developer after all and German 'humor' is...hard to discern.
I gotta admit I'm happy about this, even though it definitely wouldn't have been a deal breaker for me. I love the idea of more heroines in video games and would also support demanding more female protagonists, but choosing a gender for an established character like Link just never felt right to me...doesn't matter how many times people keep saying he's just a blank slate.
@Grumblevolcano Well, all I know is that if Nintendo makes another console based on PowerPC, you can kiss 3rd party support goodbye again. If recent rumors are to be believed though and the NX is easy to develop for and port games to, then it's pretty much guaranteed to be x86. I think Nintendo fans will just have to bite the bullet in exchange for progress this time. That said, maybe they could do the kind of BC like on XB1, but I doubt they will.
@Grumblevolcano Why is that? I thought everybody agreed that the NX can only succeed if it moves away from PowerPC and (finally) embraces x86...which would mean backwards compatibility is out of the question.
@Dankykong Well, the break is still going on...but I hope I'm wrong. It just seems like Nintendo is all in on WarioWare which has overshadowed the later Wario Land games saleswise.
It's so sad that there probably won't be any new Wario Land games. I've always thought that the WL & Sin and Punishment games were Nintendo's most underrated franchises.
A big reason why this game is so great is because of Yoshiaki Koizumi who also wrote and designed Majora's Mask. I wish Nintendo would let him make another Zelda game.
Great news. Now if only somebody could convince Konami to put Sunset Riders and Gradius III on SNES VC...boggles my mind why we haven't gotten those yet.
His patreon support is already over $1000 again. So sad how there's people defending and enabling IP thieves like him. I know it's always easier to take the little guy's side over the big company, but he's so clearly in the wrong here, just like the Pokemon bar owner from a couple of months ago.
@EmmatheBest It's called 'Xak III: The Eternal Recurrence', a PC Engine game that was never released here; there are fan translations for it though.
Here's a video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1d-SrgqESoY
WOW! Hard to believe Nintendo would allow a game like this on their console. Out of all the 16-Bit RPGs I've seen, I'd say the only one that's even more violent than this is Xak 3.
@Luffymcduck Funny you should mention WW Twisted. It was also localized by NOE and then canceled at the last minute for the same reason as Drill Dozer. It was supposedly due to safety concerns with the mercury in those special cartridges...or at least that's what I read on the internet...
Probably the most underrated Nintendo franchise next to the Wario Land series, it's so good. I'm still hoping Star Fox turns out great, but after seeing that underwhelming gameplay footage I wish that Nintendo collaborated with Treasure instead of Platinum.
@SakuraHaruka I'm not sure, but from what I understand Konami's change for the worse is fairly recent. Their new CEO Hayakawa just doesn't see a future for console games and wants to focus on mobile games instead. If they ever get new leadership they might become a great developer again which is why I'm not joining the Konami boycott.
I haven't jumped on the Konami hate bandwagon, but this is the one thing that bugs me. If they at least sold Hudson's IPs to an active games developer I would be happy.
I would be surprised if Nintendo is the only video game company that still region locks their consoles in 2016...but yeah, it's totally possible that they will disappoint again. I'll try to stay somewhat optimistic though.

Re: Mini Review: Arcade Archives VENDETTA - Konami's Finest Belt-Scrolling Brawler? You'd Better Believe It
Interesting. I've never played these games myself, but I always heard that Violent Storm was the best entry in the Crime Fighters trilogy.
Re: Feature: Best Game Boy Color (GBC) Games
This is a decent list. The only glaring omission for me is Motocross Maniacs 2 - genuinely one of the most addicting games I've ever played.
Re: Poll: Rate Your Favourite Game Boy Advance Games
Boktai really shouldn't have been omitted.
Re: Konami Is Resurrecting Hyper Sports For The Nintendo Switch
Cool. If it's half as fun as International Track & Field, I'm in.
Re: Super Mario Odyssey Loses Out To Assassin's Creed Origins In UK Charts Race
@chardir it's not just this site though, but @roadrunner343 's explanation makes sense.

Re: Feature: 20 Games That Aren't On The SNES Classic Mini, But Really Should Be
I love the SNES classic line-up, but a few more 2 player games would have been great. Off the top of my head, I'd add:
Pocky & Rocky
Final Fight 2
Super Bomberman
Legend of the Mystical Ninja
Re: Star Fox 2 Release Has Nothing To Do With Super FX Patent Expiring, Says Argonaut Founder
Very interesting. I remember reading somewhere that Synopsys owned the rights to the Super FX patent after they acquired Argonaut's parent company.

Re: Random: Kanye West's Potential Album Tracklist is All About the Wii
If he picks 'Sin & Punishment 2' for a song title, Nintendo will just have to make a third one, right? If so, then I'm all for it.
Re: "All New" Daytona USA is Indeed Coming to Arcades
@Captain_Gonru They announced it last month I think. It's called 'Cruis'n Blast' and is coming to arcades in January 2017.

Re: "All New" Daytona USA is Indeed Coming to Arcades
So we're getting a new Cruis'n game from Nintendo AND a new Daytona from Sega? The 90s kid in me approves!
Re: Review: 7th Dragon III Code: VFD (3DS)
I honestly couldn't care less about the lack of stereoscopic 3D...I only have it turned on when it's absolutely necessary.

Re: First Impressions: Kicking It With Kunio-kun in River City: Tokyo Rumble
I'd buy it in a heartbeat if they release it for Europe. Seems like PAL gamers are getting the shaft with a lot of recent 3DS games...

Re: Feature: How One Man Saved Kyoto - And Video Games - From The Atomic Bomb
So scary how there's still so many Americans who believe the bombings were justified...
Re: Rumour: More Claims Made For New Legend of Zelda on Wii U and NX, Gender Choice For Playable Character
Oh no...if there's really voice acting in the game I hope it's Midna-esque babble. An option to turn it off completely would be great, too.
Re: Rumour: Nintendo NX Source and Details Gain Some Traction
So x86 architecture means that Wii U backwards compatibility is impossible, right? Can any tech expert out there clear that up?

Seriously, how do we get Nintendo & Konami to release Ninja Five-O for the Virtual Console...I'm not gonna spend $200 for that cartridge.

A big reason why this game is so great is because of Yoshiaki Koizumi who also wrote and designed Majora's Mask. I wish Nintendo would let him make another Zelda game.
Re: The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth is Coming to Wii U
Tbh, even if I was interested in the game I wouldn't wanna support those kind of developers :/

Re: Rumour: Beyond Good And Evil 2 Is Being Developed As A Nintendo NX Exclusive
OMFG this might be the best rumor so far! I played the first one on PS2 and it's one of the greatest games I've ever played.
Re: Feature: Eiji Aonuma Reminisces on How Twilight Princess Connected His Work and Family
@OneBagTravel I agree 100%. Yoshiaki Koizumi should have taken over the Zelda franchise; every Zelda game he was involved in is a masterpiece.

Re: Poll: Which Nintendo Franchises Do You Most Want to See With the NX Launch?
It should definitely launch with a sports/racing game, something like Wave Race or F-Zero. I also want the Wario Land series to make a comeback.
Re: Macquarie Report Believes a Competitively-Priced Portable NX Could Land This Year, 'Console Partner Device' in 2017
@IceClimbers That would make more sense to me...for all regions though, especially since they keep saying that they will continue to support the 3DS.

@KingMike The gamepad does support rumble + the Japanese VC release of Drill Dozer supports rumble as well, so I'm pretty sure we're getting it, too.

Re: Feature: Five Key Reveals and Releases That Will Define Nintendo's 2016
@AlexSora89 Why are you so sure about that? According to this article they're strongly considering making the NX region-free:
https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2015/05/nintendo_currently_investigating_the_idea_of_a_region-free_nx
I would be surprised if Nintendo is the only video game company that still region locks their consoles in 2016...but yeah, it's totally possible that they will disappoint again. I'll try to stay somewhat optimistic though.

There are only 2 things that I really want from the NX:
That isn't too much to ask for is it??
