Honestly, for me it's hard to decide between HeartGold and Y... I only have 3 Pokemon games to date (with my first being Pearl; I didn't get into Pokemon until early high school haha) but those two were the best imo. I voted for HeartGold, mainly because while I never beat the game, it was a lot more fast-paced than Pearl and the Pokewalker addition made it so I could train individual Pokemon without bringing my DS to school. As much as I enjoyed Y with its excellent graphics and battle scenes, I felt like HeartGold overall had more heart and character poured into the game.
I've been waiting for a review ever since it came out and I'm glad to see its a pretty good game! I was worried about buying it since CIRCLE titles have been pretty hit or miss, but now it looks like I just have to play it!
This one has a 30-chapter manual? Then I'm already looking forward to this one! Pretty much the main thing that turned me off from Petite Computer was that it didn't really have a tutorial.
Heh, at least the girl in the beanie got close to the top of the flagpole, something I probably wouldn't have been able to do haha. She seemed like the coolest of the girls in the video; the rest were kinda (unsurprisingly) annoying.
Am I the only one who's bugged by tha fact that the different modes you click on are on the TOP SCREEN rather than the TOUCH SCREEN? It's a minor nuisance, I know, but it just bugs me that it seems like you can't use the touch screen for selecting modes from the menu, when it seems so obvious that it should be the other way around, with the menu items on the touch screen and the menu preview image on the 3D top screen.
YEEEEESSS Krysta mentioned Layton vs. Phoenix Wright! I'm also having a blast with that one, as the gameplay of both series just seems perfect together!
I'm sure I'll bite for the Kirby Fighters game, since that seems like a Lite version of Smash Bros. but with only Kirby as a playable character, but was really hoping for these games to be $4.99 instead...
Awesome! I'll admit the trailer was pretty mediocre but considering I had so much fun with the first game, I may have to get this somewhere down the line...
@DefHalan - I thought the first game was pretty damn good at the time, but you have to understand that when it came out there was barely anything noteworthy on the DSi Shop. That being said, while it IS a good game (and one of my favorite DSiWare games), it can get frustratingly hard on certain levels and the graphics haven't really aged all that well. Considering this one costs less than the first and it seems like they tightened the gameplay a bit from the trailer, you might be better off just getting the sequel, but that's my own opinion.
I've been playing Oracle of Ages on my 3DS recently; I feel like any of the GBC Zelda games are perfect for summer since they all have some sort of beach on the map.
I'm really excited to play as Lucina, even if she is sort of a clone of Marth. In the past Smash Bros. games, I simply refused to play as Marth (since his game, Shadow Dragon, was pretty horrible in comparison to other FE games), but now I can finally play a fast FE character with Lucina!
I have a question regarding this game: For all the celebrities and game characters that appear in the game, did you have to design them yourself via Mii Maker, or do they just randomly join your game? I've been considering getting the game, but if you have to design every single celeb character, I feel it would become a pain.
I would be very happy with a remake of Majoras Mask as long as they make it a lot easier to save your game. I didn't like having to start over a dungeon if I didn't finish it within the 3 days given.
Damn, I was really hoping to see A Link Between Worlds and possibly the Super Mario Land games on sale! I guess I'll just have to buy them at full price.
Very hyped for Gunman Clive 2 and ANNE, though I don't have a Wii U for that. Also glad to see Frima as a developer for the eShop; I remember they made quite a few great digital games for the PSP PSminis.
@Dreamz - Aww crap, no North American love? Damn, I would've been happy with all those goodies coupled with a digital release on PC (I prefer digital anyway), but it's too bad it's only in those territories. I'll probably just wait for it to be released on Steam, then (I don't have a Wii U yet).
@Dreamz - Hey, I noticed that, too! At the start of the video, The main character looks like a child of around 7 or 8 years old, and by the end of the trailer, she looks like a young adult of around 18 years old. It'll be very interesting to see how that comes into play in the game.
Also, artwork by Yoshitaka Amano!? That's freakin awesome! I may have to preorder a physical copy, then...
Ooh that's pretty awesome! I think it's great that other artists from different mediums have come together to work on a single project together. If I had a Wii U, I would buy this in a heartbeat!
Awesome! I haven't played many of the "modern" Final Fantasy's aside from VIII and IX but it seems like the tracks I wanted from those two are on the list. Fingers crossed for a North American release for later this year!
Looks like the lineup from FFVI has quite a few of my favorites, such as Celes' Theme and Searching For Friends. If this gets confirmed for a Western release then I won't have to track down a copy of the original!
I think Radiant Historia and Okamiden should be on that list, too; they're both very high on my list of favorites on DS. I'm also surprised to see Shadow Dragon on here; it's an okay game as it is until you realize it's lacking all the charm, presentation, and personality that made all the other FE games so great. In short, Shadow Dragon is the worst FE entry to date imo.
That battle system kind of reminds me of the one in Radiant Historia, where you could swap your turn with an enemy's to attack more than once and chain combos together. Of course, I probably shouldn't get this game til I finish that game haha.
1. Layton v. Ace Attorney - Been hyped for this one ever since it was announced back in 2011. Even bought a used copy of Layton and the Diabolical Box to become familiar with the series. 2. Smash Bros. - Super-hyped to be able to play it on the go. Especially with Villager, Mega Man, and Rosalina! 3. Shovel Knight - Been hyped for this one since it's announcement early last year. The promo images and features here on NL were always great to see. I only hope it's no more than $10 on the eShop, cuz then I'd have to buy more prepaid funds. 4. Shantae 3 - Ill admit I wasn't too excited for this one when it was announced, but now that I've beaten the DsiWare sequel finally and have started the first GBC one, I'm pretty hyped for this now.
I'm downloading the Bravely Default demo as I type this, so I'll try it out and see if it's worth my money as well.
Hey, wasn't Shovel Knight supposed to come out today? Where is it? My 3DS can't connect to my university's wifi, so if it didn't come out today, I can't download it til Spring break! D:
Fire Emblem got my vote in all it's eligible categories, so I'm glad it at least made 2nd place in the 3DS categories. It's such an excellent game, the only reasons I haven't been playing it for the past few months is because of all the other games being released and the fact that I played it to death (90 hours on my 1st playthrough!) when it first came out. It's a game that definitely warrants a 2nd playthrough, so I might just have to start another file soon!
I'm surprised but also kinda glad that many of you on the NL staff haven't yet tried out ALBW. Zelda is among my top 3 favorite series of all time, and have played almost all of them to date, yet have not had the time (or money!) to try out ALBW. Hopefully that'll change in the coming months, after I work on my Backloggery and beat some eShop, 3DS, and Steam games.
I love that game as well; it was short but had plenty of charm. Glad to see sales have been great for him. Looking at those screenshots makes me want to replay the game again! Can't wait to see what else he has up his sleeves to create.
I wish we could have voted for 2nd and 3rd place picks. If so, I would've nominated Pokemon Y and Animal Crossing for 3DS. Nothing can beat Fire Emblem, though; that game is a beast. 90+ hours well spent.
Well, first-form-wise, Chespin's was my favorite and Froakie's was my least, and with these second forms, Froakie's is my favorite and Chespin's is my least favorite. :/ I'm still gonna choose Chespin, but I may never let him evolve. Still, I have my fingers crossed since some of the last few gens' 2nd evolutions of the starters were pretty bad, yet the last form ended up pretty baddonkey. Take Piplup, for example. His first form was effin' adorable, yet his second was damn ugly, and his third made him an absolute baddonkey penguin. XD
@SkywardLink98 - I didn't say I didn't like it, just that really there is nothing anyone could do to do this game justice. Well, aside from Squeenix (finally) releasing a remake of the game on 3DS a la FFIII and IV on DS. That being said, the trailer was alright. I applaud these fans for at least trying, but like many have already stated the actors/actresses don't LOOK like their respective characters, which is a major turnoff for a movie version of such a great game.
Awesome! I guess it's about time I picked up SMG2, then! Everyone's been saying how it's better than SMG1, but I just couldn't get myself to pay $50 for it. Now that it's on sale, I suppose I don't have any more excuses to NOT buy it. XD
I dunno about this... Final Fantasy VI is my all time favorite game, so I'd hate to see it get butchered by a movie release. Like someone above me commented, nothing can do this masterpiece of a game justice.

Surprised to not see Wind Waker HD on that list, as it DOES have an entire ocean to explore, and feels very summer-y.
