I currently have 4 games on my 3DS SD card: Gunman Clive, Super Mario 3D Land, escapeVektor, and Pushmo. So far, Gunman Clive is my most-played game. It's just so fun to play (and I still need to play through with the female character)!
Btw, just curious but what's Mr. Horberg's nationality? Sounds German to me.
I commented on my backloggery that it feels like a cross between Mega Man and Donkey Kong Country, what with the swinging platforms in the second area and the mine cart level. The rocket level reminded me of DKCReturns. I can definitely see Mario being an influence, and I have a feeling Duck Mode was inspired by Duck Hunt, only you're supposed to DODGE the shooter instead of playing as the shooter.
Downloaded the game a few hours ago, and it's awesome. Reminds me of a cross between Mega Man and Donkey Kong Country, ie platforming done right. I'm glad the game is doing so well. The brilliant developers deserve it.
Games sell consoles. Right now, as several people have mentioned, the only Wii U exclusive games that are "killer apps" are Mario Bros U and NintendoLand. The majority of the rest are ports that many people probably already have. I myself feel that the Wii U is lacking quite a bit in terms of retail software available. I tend to buy single-player games only, and seeing that Mario Bros U and NintendoLand are made primarily with multiplayer in mind, right now I am not obliged to purchase a Wii U. If they had released Pikmin 3 at launch, it would be a different story. Its the reason why I havenever really ever purchased a new-gen system at launch. Its the same reason why Ive waited nearly 2 years to finally purchase a 3DS; there are finally titles exclusively on the system that I really want to play.
@ShadJV - I think we can be sure that X will come with Xerneas and Y will come with Yveltal, since the logos of each version seems to point to their respective legendary. It wouldn't make sense for Xerneas to be the legendary of Y when Y's logo obviously is in the shape of Yveltal, and vice versa.
^ I plan on getting Y version as well. I've always ended up buying the hot/red version of pokemon games (ie Pearl & Heartgold). Plus, it'll go well with my red 3DS. :3
As someone else said, I never thought I'd be so hyped for a Pokemon game! But man this looks like it'll be epic!
I just opened up my red 3DS semi-Christmas-gift-to-myself yesterday, so I'll be busy playing Super Mario 3D Land (pre-installed), escapeVektor, and possibly Pushmo or some other eshop game I haven't yet purchased.
I also just resumed my playthrough of Pokemon HeartGold after getting super-hyped for X/Y (yes, almost 3 years later and I'm not even halfway through!), so I'll be busy with that and checking out my new 3DS's capabilities. :3
On Wii, I'm thinking about finally repaying Okami. I'm still in a Japan-esque mindset after staying there for 2 weeks, so it only makes sense to start another runthrough now. :3
Well, if I were to pick the Fire starter, I would just HAVE to name him/her Mozilla.
In all seriousness, the more I look at the starters, the more I like them. I think I'll buy Pokemon Y and pick the Grass starter, Chespin. Seriously, he's so adorable!
Not gonna lie; this announcement has actually made me want a Pokemon game. While I like me some pokemon, I felt like they were just rehashing the same old formula on the DS in the past two years with B&W and B&W2, which is why I didn't buy 'em.
But THIS, THIS looks like something I would actually spend money and time to play. Fully 3D adventure? 3D battles where the pokemon actually move and attack like in actual RPG's? This is what I've been waiting for for ever since I bought HeartGold out of impulse. This, coupled with the 3DS's SpotPass capabilities will surely (and finally!) make this a worthwhile addition to the Pokemon series.
I can already hear my wallet crying. Between Fire Emblem, Animal Crossing, and this, my wallet and my time are both gonna be tortured to death. XD
Been waiting for a (good) Fire Emblem game since Sacred Stones and Path of Radiance. At last, the wait will be over. :3 My second vote goes to Animal Crossing, though. My body is ready for the neglect it will receive once I get that game.
@KnightRider666: I, too would love another Advance Wars. Was the main reason why I bought a DS Lite in 2006. Map creation ate up a large number of hours for me XD
On Fire Emblem, I just posted a pic of the Japanese version on NL's FaceBook page. I can't decide whether I should buy this or Xenoblade Chronicles first. (Yes, I have yet to buy Xenoblade even though it's been out for almost a year!)
It seems as though Nnooo took a stab at something they couldn't handle... But that surely doesn't mean all of their future releases will be so bad! EscapeVektor was excellent (which is why I'm still REALLY disappointed that they won't release the other chapters on WiiWare!), and I'm sure if they keep within the genres they are good with (ie not AR-based games), their games will be of great quality. They just dipped into a genre they couldn't properly handle is all.
I can definitely see how $50 is a justified price for the physical copy with such a beautiful CD cover. Too bad they made it in such limited quantites...
Still, I'll just wait for it to be available for free in the coming months.
You guys know that the Lavender Town music actually creates a warning message when you put the audio into a certain program to view all the tracks?
When I learned about that... Holy shiz I'm getting massive shivers right now. Just look up the facts with the Lavender Town music. It's friggin creepy. O:
So yes, Pokemon takes the crown of having the most creepy thing to be included in a game.
Felt like buying this on my DSi so I could replay it on a smaller screen. Playing it on the Wii kinda strained my eyes after awhile haha. Spending $22 total on both versions was still worth it!
@rayword45 - I thought the exact same thing too! Cave Story is just so much more involving than La-Mulana I feel. The only thing La-Mulana has over Cave Story is its longevity and non-linearity.
Anyway, I just downloaded the DSiWare version yesterday haha. But I'm not upset because I don't have a 3DS anyway and it doesn't seem like this version has much else to offer. I already own the Freeware version on my Mac, the Wiiware version, and now the DSiWare version, so I don't expect to be purchasing any other Cave Story version for a long while.
And on a sidenote, whatever happened to the Ikachan port to DSiWare?
The main issues I had with Other M were mainly in the gameplay department rather than the story. I felt they handled the story fairly well, though they shouldn't have had so many overly-dramatic scenes for Samus. Plus there were a few plotholes. But again, I mainly had issues with its game design choices, such as a lack of analog control, the lack of health/missile pickups, and Most Importantly, the linear nature of it all. If I could choose where I wanted to go next, I would've forgiven all of its shortcomings. But no, the game plays like an interactive movie more than anything, so naturally I didn't enjoy it as much as I expected to. Definitely not worth the $50 initial purchase price.
I also like Phil's choice in Antipole. It's a fun little game for $5, and while it's a tiny bit glitchy at times, I had a blast with it last year. Surprised it was the only DSiWare title picked, though.
I always opt to buy the physical copy of music CD's rather than the digital versions on iTunes and such, and it's the same with games. I just prefer the manufactured smell and the option to read the instruction booklet when I'm bored. Plus, the cover art is usually nice to look at (also a reason I buy physical CD's).
However, with a smaller retail game or a game that I would play on a daily basis (such as Animal Crossing, like the article says), I would probably prefer the download.
Well... I myself don't know how to properly type on a keyboard, so I'd be fine using a hunt-and-peck style on the DSi touchscreen.
That said, this seems like a very interesting app. I'd say if I could make a decent and simple arcade game, it would be well worth the purchase (and time).
I still think it was very inconsiderate of them to leave us Wii owners with only one chapter of escapeVektor and no plans to complete it. I unlocked everything I could in the game, but it will always be incomplete in my Wii collection because you need all (4?) chapters to unlock everything.
I'm gonna need that Petit Computer review. Besides, I only have 300 points left after DL'ing last week's Ace Mathician. Gonna have to buy a new $20 card if I am to buy Petit Computer... but I am definitely curious to how user-friendly it is.
This is so unexpected! You can be sure all of us here will miss you, James. Best of luck to you as a part of the Big N. And be sure to stop by here at NL every once in awhile.

What a great little game.

Re: Ikachan Swimming Into The 3DS eShop in North America Before February
I got excited when I saw Ikachan listed in the Coming Soon list on the 3DS eShop. Definitely gonna buy it the weekend it comes out.
Re: Feature: What You Told Us About Wii U
@NintenDude97 - Yep. Me too.
And THANK YOU for a fun survey, NintendoLife (even though I don't have a Wii U yet)!
Re: Nintendo of America Outlines Upcoming Q1 eShop Releases
Looking forward to Ikachan. I'm hoping its $5 or less, though.

These images have confirmed for me that I will be picking up Pokemon Y and choosing Chespin as the starter.

Re: Nintendo of America Confirms Fire Emblem: Awakening 3DS Bundle
DAMMIT! I just bought a 3DS!
Oh well, I wanted a red 3DS, anyway. This looks beautiful, but so is my red one with Super Mario 3D Land pre-installed. I don't regret it.
Re: The Gold Nunchuk Shines Again on Club Nintendo
Dammit... even with a brand new 3DS, I doubt I'll have enough coins to nab one of these in time...
Maybe I shouldn't have spent 150 on Metroid II...

The Wii U is an art by itself. And he ruined it by melting it and calling it his own "art".
Despicable.
Re: Nintendo Brings Heat to Black Friday With Flame Red 3DS Deal

I DO have the money for it, but if I were to buy it now, I'd be completely broke afterward. AGAIN.
Hmmmmmm...
Re: WayForward Would Like To Make A Metroid Game

Re: Abyss Alights To The Surface On 23rd August
I dunno... the trailer made it seem incredibly dull, boring, and overly tricky/hard. :/ I don't have much faith in this one.
Re: Abyss Trailer Emerges From The Depths
I'm digging the music, but the gameplay seems kind slow. And that really sucks if you get a Game Over just by touching a hazard. :/
Oh, and there's no need for shoddy voice-acting in a game like this. :/
