Re: Review: Magical Whip: Wizards of the Phantasmal Forest (DSiWare)

Bassman_Q

Hmmm... the game seems really fun, but the lack of a save system really turns me off... I suppose I HAVE had fun with DSiWare games w/out save systems before (like Army Defender and D-Tank), but they at least had a score-based system. Does this game have anything score-related for when you get a game over and failed to reach the end?

Re: Pikmin 3

Bassman_Q

@brenwizard- yeah, I've also been waiting for Pikmin 3 since I bought Pikmin 2 in 2005. It's such a great game, and I even made small clay models of Pikmin, including ones that I think SHOULD exist, like a green one w/ immunity to poison, an orange one w/ immunity to acid, a black one that can burrow underground, etc. (I was a very imaginative and wishful kid back then). Which reminds me, nice avi. I just realized that its a GREEN Pikmin, which doesn't truly exist yet.

The Kyotokei demo will soon be spending time on my Wii. Also interested with Magical Whip; although I'm not too keen on the anime art style, for 200 points it seems intriguing. Just hope its not as bad and boring as Anonymous Notes.

So for a 200 point title, I can either buy that fighting training game (Double Dragon was it?), Crazy Hamster, or Magical Whip... Hmmm... decisions decisions...

Re: Rumour: Nintendo Readying Big Announcement Next Month

Bassman_Q

@WaltzElf (6) - I agree. Apple + Nintendo would pretty much rule the entire electronic entertainment business as a monopoly. But they'd make amazing stuff, so it won't matter that they monopolize.

But anyway, hope its the announcement of... XENOBLADE CHRONICLES for NA!

Re: Review: Xenoblade Chronicles (Wii)

Bassman_Q

Damn, even if this game gets released in the U.S., I doubt I'd be able to lay it anyway for 2 major reasons: 1. lack of money and 2. lack of time. Damn homework is eating up my time like theres no tomorrow! D:<

Of course, I'm also angry at how NoA's been treating us Americans recently. There is absolutely NO reason to not bring this game stateside.

Re: Talking Point: What Was the Best Super NES Game Ever?

Bassman_Q

That's a tough choice, as the SNES had so many great games. I remember I had a blast with the Donkey Kong Country trilogy when I was a kid, and Super Mario RPG was every bit as unforgettable, if not moreso. However, my vote has to go with Final Fantasy III (VI), because its story is just so ingeniously told, and the cinematics are stunning and spectacular.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Makes Bold Move with the 3DS

Bassman_Q

I think the price drop is great, but financially I'm not quite sure. I know it adds incentive for me to buy a 3DS, but I was already going to buy it eventually, no matter the cost. But again, the price drop DOES make me wanna buy it sooner (but after August 12) rather than later.

Re: Review: Antipole (DSiWare)

Bassman_Q

Great review and the score is exactly what I would give it. The only minor annoyance is that it is VERY easy to die and the controls are a bit slippery at first. Still, its really fun and I agree that it deserves a purchase from any DSi/3DS owner.

Re: Aonuma Opens a Treasure Chest of Skyward Sword Details

Bassman_Q

Well none of that had anything to do with spoilers imo, but all I can say is that I hope this Ghirhim dude will be the most badass villain in the history of Zelda! Maybe screw up the world, since he looks like he could be a lunatic. He seriously reminds me of Kefka a little, so yeah, it seems possible.

Re: Review: Extreme Hangman 2 (DSiWare)

Bassman_Q

A 6/10 seems just a bit harsh. Was expecting a 7/10 from the review, as it points out that there really isn't anything wrong with it other than some minor loading times. If you want to see REALLY long loading times for a download game, try NOVA for PSP Minis. That game's got load times that last for about two minutes, and they happen about 5 times per level!

Re: Nintendo Download: 21st July 2011 (North America)

Bassman_Q

Downloaded Antipole. Pretty polished for DSiWare, but controls take a bit getting used to. That, and its incredibly easy to die. But its still pretty good.

Kung-Fu Dragon also seems promising for $2. Might need to buy it too.

Now to wait for Amoebattle... hopefully its only $5 cuz I don't have enough for 800 points now...

Re: SEGA Finally Makes Aliens: Infestation Official

Bassman_Q

Awesome! A Metroid-style sidescrolling shooter! Definitely looks promising, especially since its WayForward. Kinda doubt I'll buy it, though... Maybe I'll look for it on sale, cuz you know it probably won't sell very well, unfortunately.

Re: First Impressions: Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D

Bassman_Q

@26- It's the same control scheme they used for the PSP MGS game, which only has the one analog nub as you know. I DO wish that this remake utilized the touch screen for camera controls instead, though, as moving the camera with face buttons can be a bit awkward at times.

@Otaku- Ah okay thanks. I'm an MGS noob so yeah.

Re: First Impressions: Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D

Bassman_Q

Well I only own Peace Walker for PSP. Anyone know where that goes in the MGS timeline? Is it a sequel to MGS3 or is it a prequel to it? Cuz I know both Peace Walker and MGS3 use the same original Snake, unlike the rest of the series, which uses a clone of him.

Re: Your Free Antipole Soundtrack Awaits

Bassman_Q

Listening to the soundtrack right now, and damn is it surprisingly good! Before, I was only minorly interested in the game. Now, I might just have to buy it just for the awesome music! Thanks, Saturnine Games!

Re: Review: Solatorobo: Red the Hunter (DS)

Bassman_Q

Wow sounds promising. Glad it got a good score for the sake of all the people who want it. For me, though, the "furry" concept in the game makes it a deal-breaker, no matter how great of a game it is.

Plus, I still need to buy Dragon Quest IX and Radiant Historia. (Yes, I do not own either atm) ^^'

Re: Dedicated Gamer Aces Dragon Quest IX After 773 Hours

Bassman_Q

Damn that's INSANE! I think the max I've spent in a game is just over 100 hours, and the only games I've ever managed to do that are in Advance Wars DS, Animal Crossing Wild World, and WarioWare DIY (All DS games, coincidentially ).

I can't imagine spending 7x that much on a SINGLE game.

Re: Review: ANIMA: Ark of Sinners (WiiWare)

Bassman_Q

@8- Okami had terrible controls...?

Well, you do have a point when it comes to combat in the game (it was pretty bad), but give the game a chance; I'm glad I did. I stopped playing cuz of its strange controls and lack of knowledge on where to go, but then I picked it up a year later and completed it a few months afterward. Definitely among my favorite games of all time.

Re: Talking Point: The Growing Storm of Operation Rainfall

Bassman_Q

Just sent an email to Nintendo. Copy and paste if you like. Let's continue to spam the crap out of Nintendo's inbox!

Hello, Nintendo of America! I have been a long-time fan of your products for over 10 years, and have come to appreciate all the support and just the overall experience you have given every one of us fans. I am glad that I am a fan of Nintendo, what with the sheer quality of games you guys release.

Unfortunately, this cannot be said without some doubt due to recent events. It has come to my attention that there a number of games that have been fairly successful in Japan that have been denied the right to be localized in North America. Yes, you know which games I speak of. The Last Story. Xenoblade Chronicles. Pandora's Tower. All three of these games have serious potential, and if they were released here in North America, then I am sure that they will garner quite a bit of praise and success (not to mention money) from hardcore gamers. Now, if you refuse to localize them in North America, then what kind of impression do you think this will leave on Nintendo fans? You guys said yourself at this year's E3 presentation that you were trying to regain the "hardcore" crowd again with the Wii U. Surely you weren't going to just simply not put that plan into action until the Wii U came out? No. I believe that the time to regain the hardcore started during E3, and so should be put into action as soon as possible. And localizing these games for North American fans would be an excellent first step into shifting the balance against rivals Sony and Microsoft.

Long live Operation Rainfall!

Re: Operation Rainfall Responds to Nintendo's "Never Say Never"

Bassman_Q

If NoA doesn't bring these games to the NA or at least confirm they're coming to the NA anytime soon, I sure as hell will switch to SONY and hope for Nintendo's downfall. I know it sounds harsh, but I can't stand how Nintendo has been treating their "fans" recently. They're all like, "Yeah, we hear you, but we're not gonna lift a damn finger for you guys. No, we're not even gonna stick with what we said at E3, as we only confirmed regaining 'core gamers with the WiiU, not the Wii."
