Re: Zelda is No Longer Royalty in Skyward Sword

Bassman_Q

Wait that girl is ZELDA!? I thought it was Skyward Sword's equivalent to OoT's Saria and TP's Ilia (ie just a childhood friend, not Zelda herself). Well, the statement that it'll have school drama seems like an awful idea to me. We've seen that scenario HUNDREDS of times in games, movies, and books before. And yeah, the fact that Zelda is kidnaped is getting old for me too. Hope the story has more dramatic twists and such, kinda like how Twilight Princess's narrative was presented ('Tis why TP's story is my favorite out of the Zelda's even though it was, at its core, a very similar scenario to OoT).

Re: Review: Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D (3DS)

Bassman_Q

Is it just me, or does 3DS seem to have a large amount of low-content games? I mean, for $40, it seems like over half of the games barely (or don't!) have enough meat to justify the price. The only games I know of that seem to have a good amount of content on 3DS are Ocarina of Time, DoA, Street Fighter, and that Tom Clancy Shadow Wars game. What's up with that?

Re: Mighty Switch Force to Release on 3DS eShop

Bassman_Q

Does this mean all new Wayforward downloadable games will be on the eShop rather than the DSi Shop?

That's too bad, cuz I don't own a 3DS, and if it were DSiWare, then both 3DS owners AND DSi owners alike could buy it.

Re: Xenoblade's North American Release Chances Take a Knock

Bassman_Q

NoA can kiss my @$$.

Seriously, where is the logic in ANY of this? They let so much shovelware get published both digitally and for retail, yet for quality, PROMISING titles like this and The Last Story, they wave their hand. Wouldn't they want to print it and make millions? I mean, they would just get more fans and more money. So WHY THE HELL NOT?!?!?!

Re: Sony: Wii U is No Threat, Says "Welcome to 2006, Nintendo"

Bassman_Q

Well, I'm not gonna badmouth Sony, both because I enjoy the PSN store on PSP and, to an extent, they are kind of right. Ninty is a bit late when it comes to HD gaming. However, it IS 50% more powerful as well as cheaper than the PS3, so Sony may need to watch their backs.

Now, if this were Microsoft badmouthing Nintendo, then I'd have no choice but to flame them to death. I quite simply DESPISE Microsoft.

Re: There Will Be No Zelda 25th Anniversary Collection

Bassman_Q

I'm just happy that we get Skyward Sword, a new console Zelda (the last being released 5 years ago), and a FREE download Zelda. I'm personally celebrating by re-playing a lot of the Zelda games this year, specifically OoT on VC and, later, Link's Awakening DX on my GBA. Will probably replay TP before purchasing Skyward Sword as well. 2011 will officially be my Zelda playing year!

Re: First Impressions: Nintendo Wii U

Bassman_Q

I agree with you on your impressions, Corbie. I'm not sold on the Wii U either. I thought Nintendo would make something more revolutionary and mind-blowing, as the Wii U just seems like a Wii with much-needed HD support and some more control gimmicks. I'm happy for it, but it just seems more like a slightly improved console than a brand-new one.

Then again, That's kind of how I feel about the 3DS.

Oh, and 100th post!

Re: Wii U Won't Support Blu-ray or DVD Playback

Bassman_Q

I honestly don't care about the DVD playback... It's the Blu-Ray that I would've liked to have. I don't own one, and I don't think I'll be owning a PS3 anytime soon, so it would've been great if the Wii U had one. It's disappointing, yes, but I don't think it's a deal-breaker... unless it's extremely expensive without the Blu-Ray drive.

Re: Rumour: Wii U is 50% More Powerful Than PlayStation 3

Bassman_Q

@11- Aye, so true.

I also think that it would be incredibly stupid on Nintendo's part if the Wii U wasn't better than the PS360 in terms of processing capabilities. I don't know how great the PS4/XB720's processing power will be, but Nintendo will have to do much better than current next-gen consoles to even compete.

Re: Nintendo Taking "Massive Leap" with Wii U's Online Set-Up

Bassman_Q

So... basically Ninty is playing catch-up? Not only HD but with their online? They're not gonna bother to make it better than PSN and XBL but just try to make it "similar"? That sounds incredibly stupid to me.

And they're excuse for not having a good online store from the beginning is even more stupid imo. Just because not everyone had access to wifi doesn't mean that they should've let the online store suffer from being barebones.

Re: Features: A View from Hyrule Field

Bassman_Q

Great article, Zach! You managed to capture what the game is truly about. I had a great time playing it for the first time in 2009 (unlike many, it was on the Wii's VC rather than the N64). It's a gorgeous game, though compared to other Zelda entries, I feel that some of the characters were a bit... incomplete. There were many characters that were great at showing their personality, like Malon, Darunia, and that Gerudo commander (forgot her name), but others like Princess Ruto I felt were a bit shallow and not well-written. I guess I have to partially agree with what warioswoods said about the script. And I guess that's why Ocarina of Time is NOT my #1 fav game of all time, though it is among my Top 5 at the very least.

Re: Wii U Uses 25GB Discs and Lacks GameCube Compatibility

Bassman_Q

That's pretty disapointing, but I guess I'll just have to keep either my Wii or GameCube when I buy the Wii U. Most likely its gonna be my Wii thats gonna go get sold, since I assume Nintendo will let us transfer our numerous downloads to the Wii U, and because the Wii U looks like nothing more than an upgraded Wii.

Re: Nikkei Corroborates Previous Wii 2 Controller Rumours

Bassman_Q

Am I the only one who thinks this is an awesome idea? It won't be totally intended to be a handheld, just a handheld that could play the games from the console portably and possibly away from the console. It'll be like a bigscreen DS, with the TV being the "top screen" and the controller being the "touchscreen". Of course, the controller won't have a gameslot, so it won't be able to play games on its own. Plus, there will probably be totally different games available on the 3DS for this controller to really damage the 3DS sales.

Of course, these are just my speculations. I hope it becomes reality; I've been dreaming of having a console controller that doubles as a handheld ever since I had an N64.

Re: Review: GO Series: Picdun (DSiWare)

Bassman_Q

Damn I just spent a 2000 points card on my Wii. I guess I gotta rake in an extra $20 for another card on my DSi now.

@Tempaura- Are you suggesting that the game gets less fun towards the end...?

Re: Rumour: Project Cafe Controller Contains a Camera

Bassman_Q

LOL they might as well have us use 3DS's for controllers. I wouldn't mind, but getting extra controllers would be out of the question. Everyone who's playing would have to buy their own controllers.

I DO hope that there IS an option to use a 3/DS as a controller... I've been hoping to use a Nintendo handheld as a console controller since I had a GBA.

Re: Features: The Vehicles of MotoHeroz

Bassman_Q

I thought it was confirmed that it would be released in June?

If not, I hope they release it soon, cuz I may very well forget about this one. I seem to do that nowadays with so many games being released every month... even with awesome-looking games like this.

Re: Features: Re-Examining Zelda: Twilight Princess

Bassman_Q

I too really loved this game. It had the most engrossing narrative of all, and had the most epicness to it as well. My only complaints would be that it felt too similar to OoT and had a somewhat dull color palette. And the wolf sections were a snore. However, it is still among my favorite games, with it ranking fourth among Zelda games, behind Link's Awakening (3rd), Ocarina of Time (2nd), and Wind Waker (1st).

Re: Miyamoto: A Link to the Past Could be Reworked for the 3DS

Bassman_Q

Meh. There's too many remakes coming out on the 3DS right now. And I mean WAY too many. While ALttP was a really good game, it ranks pretty low for me when compared to the other Zelda games, specifically Ocarina of Time, Wind Waker, and Link's Awakening, so I wouldn't be so excited on that being remade.

Give us something new with that concept of layered 2D in a NEW Zelda game, however, and I'd buy it day 1.

Re: Cave Story 3D Coming August 9th

Bassman_Q

I'm really not digging the boxart. Its too anime-ish, and doesn't seem to do the original characters justice. And I don't know how in the world they can justify paying $40 if the only updates are the graphics, sound, and a slight expansion of the world. While it is indeed a great game, it only lasted about 8 hours for me on my first playthrough, and there's NO WAY you can justify $40 with only 8 hours of gameplay.

Re: Tales of the Abyss 3DS Coming to North America

Bassman_Q

For a second I thought this was news for that crap From the Abyss game and was about to do a facepalm, but then I realized it was a Tales Of game. IDK, I've never played a Tales Of game, but with what I've been hearing, I should add this to the list of games I need to check out.

Re: Review: GO Series: Captain Sub (DSiWare)

Bassman_Q

I'm surprised at the score. I would easily give it a solid 8/10, as its just so addicting. I would even give it the title of 2nd Favorite 200-Point DSiWare Game, behind Aura-Aura Climber. Though I haven't yet reached the annoying section mentioned in the review, it's hard for me to imagine that this gets any more annoying than a previous GO Series game, Defense Wars, which recieved a 7/10 if I'm not mistaken. That game annoyed the hell outta me, with its high difficulty and annoying, iffy controls.

All in all, I think this is a well-polished game that deserves AT LEAST a 7/10, and I highly recommend it to fans of Cave Story and Super Metroid (ie the exploration subgenre).
