@Davzilla Spending hours working on a piece of art and creating an equally good piece of art by typing in a couple words and a computer stealing other art pieces are not the same thing. I don’t really think there’s anything wrong with AI art, because it will forever lack personality, but you can’t say you created it, no one did.
I do not understand AI art at all. Everything I’ve seen on the internet, this article, and its comments have been the exact same art style, which makes it really easy to tell what’s AI and what’s not. If AI art could actually look like real art, it would be more worrying, as anyone could claim they drew something, and we’d be in a world where nothing is real, and what is real would be thought unreal by everyone. That’s a terrifying thought, but it doesn’t really scare me, because I know AI art will never be good, at least for my lifetime.
@Znake @LikelySatan The difference is that Doom Eternal was released just a few months after it was on other consoles. These games have been out for years, and most people who want it already own it. So even if they could get it to run, it wouldn’t be worth the extra money.
@Kayloo Celeste was made by 3 people, Undertale was made by 1… you don’t need hundreds or even dozens of people to make a good game. Plus, Among Us doesn’t make enough money to hire many more people.
@ThePizzaCheese Technically the Minecraft characters are genderless (or at least Alex and Steve are, I’d assume the same is true for these ones), which is hard to believe in Steve’s case, but that’s what the developers said.
It doesn’t really matter though, because it’s very easy to import other avatars for free.
A Zelda Ghibli movie sounds incredible, I’d never thought of that before.
Splatoon as Pixar doesn’t make sense to me though, Pixar always has deep meanings in their movies, and I don’t see how Splatoon could have that. The animation would definitely work though.
@ketrac According to Google, if a big company made a tv commercial, the voice actor could be payed up to $10,000.
It says a mid-level voice actor would get payed $69,000-$87,500, but I’d assume that’s for a movie. For a video game, you’d probably have to voice more lines, but they might be easier to do.
No matter how you look at it, $4000 is incredibly low
This is the most creative one yet! I’m curious to see how the 3 team splatfests evolve. I like Water best, but I want grass to win to keep Shiver’s streak going.
@personauser93 Right, but we’re not talking about the game selling well, we’re talking about whether it should exist, which in this case it should. Yes, in Nintendo and whoever makes Overwatch’s view, it is a good idea to make those games, but it doesn’t make sense to the consumer. Consumers will buy the games anyway, because they want to keep playing them, but they shouldn’t have to (in Splatoon’s case).
It’s the same thing as Cloud games. Everyone always complains about their existence, but they sell well, so it makes sense to the publisher for them to exist. Or Illumination movies.
@Keveseunie Right, because all games with cosmetics or characters locked behind a paywall or a substantial time investment fail horribly (Fortnite, LoL, Genshin Impact, any other gacha game)
@GreenFlash What? These are being drawn using the drawing feature. Nintendo can’t implement something that can tell if it’s a QR code, that’s not how game development works.
@john_lennon999 If they were releasing GoldenEye on NSO today, Nintendo probably would have put the date in the Direct it was announced it, since it was just a couple weeks ago. Because the others had 2023, I don’t think GoldenEye will be until late 2023 or early 2024. Maybe this day next year?
Also why is today 007 day? I don’t know a lot about it, but is it an anniversary or something?
“we highly doubt that Illumination would want to make a movie that's just a man talking to weird little mushroom men for two hours.”
That sentence’s gonna go down well.
This poster actually looks really good to me. I’ve really liked Illumination’s art style in the past, so it doesn’t surprise me. The castle on the hill looks strange, but I’m sure it’ll grow on me. Looks like the Lorax.
@KingMike …What? How do you compare “murderworld”, Mortal Kombat, and a CHRISTMAS TREE? Why would they censor a holiday a lot of their audience celebrates, and everyone in North America is at least aware of?
I’d love to get into the Castlevania series, but the lack of games on Switch doesn’t motivate me to. This getting ported would get me to get it though. I’m mostly hoping the original will be added to NSO so I can play it for free, but I doubt that’ll happen.
@FroZtedFlake I googled it, and it seems I remembered her being sort of a jerk throughout it and only affecting the story once, by stealing Mario’s hat, but I remembered it to a much more extreme level than what actually happened lol
1-2-Switch. One of my favourite Switch launch titles despite being objectively overpriced. Also Zelda: Spirit Tracks is still the second best game in the series in my opinion (Link to the Past is best)
I started with Spirit Tracks, and I don’t really recommend that, as it’s fairly mediocre by Zelda standards. I’d say start with Link to the Past, because it’s the best at introducing you to the Zelda formula.
@strollin_stu If you played 10 randomly selected levels in Mario Maker, then thought about what those creators would make in a 3D Mario Maker, you’d probably think differently… I love Mario Maker 2 and think it has a lot better levels than most people think… but it’s very hard to find good level design. I’m sure some people would make amazing levels, but it would be hard to find them among the pile of garbage most of it would be.
Good thing it won’t be deleted by Nintendo like the last super popular super world… Glad to see people are still making great levels in Mario Maker! I started playing it again last month.
I remember back when everyone was begging for Diamond and Pearl remakes, and I kept seeing on the internet that the original games were some of the worst Pokémon games, I predicted everyone would hate it… guess I was right
@Anti-Matter It’s actually not free-to-play, it costs $30…
Saying games that require grinding is “free-to-play practise” is unfair, because you need to grind in most Zelda games, especially BotW, and everyone cherishes that as an underpriced game.
Edit: Just realized from the comments it’s the early access that’s paid… the second paragraph still applies.

@sixrings I’m gonna assume you’re being sarcastic and say I don’t think Nintendo is against voice actors or paying their employees…

Switch can’t run Village, so there’s literally nothing wrong with this

@Kayloo There’s 4 people developing it, things take time, shockingly

Re: Bayonetta's OG Voice Actor Asks Fans To "Boycott" Third Game After PlatinumGames Wage Fallout
@Captain-N It’s a flat rate, so I don’t think she’d get royalties. So overall $4000 isn’t that much.
But those videos are pretty rude, in many ways…
Re: Poll: What's The Best Piece Of Music In A Nintendo Game?
I voted for Gourmet Race 64, but… this wasn’t a good idea for an article. It doesn’t make sense…
Re: Feature: Meet Sea Power, The Talent Behind Disco Elysium's Exquisite Music
Is there any specific reason NL has been posting so many features/taking points about music the last couple days?
Re: Talking Point: What's Your Favourite Music Track From A Nintendo Game?
In terms of favourite, I’d say Kakariko Village (the LttP/OoT version, not the BotW)
But in terms of objectively best, Gourmet Race, probably.
Re: Another 25 Games That Are Better On Switch OLED

Jack Black is great as Bowser, but Toad is better, I knew Keegan-Michael Key would kill that role

This is NOT the worst thing these drawings can be lol. This won’t get it shut down if it hasn’t been yet.

@EarthboundBenjy There’s 2 movies called The Grinch, the second one was produced my Illumination, so… reboots!
@Bunkerneath Really? Which one, the first one? I’ve never heard of this.
