It would perhaps be the understatement of the year to say that Splatoon 3 has been a big hit. The game has broken records with the sheer quantity of sales that it has made in Japan and the same can be said across the world. The game has been such a big hit, in fact, that even Google has got in on the action.
Getting a Google interactive Easter egg on your search is like having the popular kid in school come to your party - it's a sign that you are in the big leagues - and Splatoon is now most certainly part of that crew.
As pointed out by Go Nintendo, if you search for Splatoon, Splatoon 2 or Splatoon 3 on Google at the moment, you will notice a small splat animation taking place just under the suggested game page. Clicking on said splat will let you click anywhere on the search engine to send a blob of ink flying onto your search results.
We know your big question, don't worry. Yes, this works on desktop and mobile.
While hardly the most entertaining of Splatoon's game modes, it sure is nice to see the Inkling infatuation (or the Octoling obsession) spread further than many of us thought possible.
Have you tried this fun feature? Splat your answer in the comments below!

So I obviously had to ink the whole screen
@Jackpaza0508 Lol i just did that and then i read your comment. Yeah i feel you, you had to hahaha
That's one way to cover up your search history.
Works for Firefox(PC), too.
However, it doesn't appear to work for Firefox on android tablet.
Today is 007 day and instead of getting Goldeneye we have 3 news about Splatoon 3 and 5 about Pokemon (I don't play either of these games) sorry for the post, but I have refreshed the site in the last 10 hours a thousand times waiting for 007. Not gonna happen today, so nobody knows when now.
I like these easter egg stuff that google does for games and other media.
The only thing missing is Dr Dre saying "Splat tat tat tat, splat tat tat, like that".
And Snoop Dog saying "You know I never hesitate to shoot an inkling in the back".
Well, it isn't really missing, but it's only playing in my head though. Still kind of gangsta, no? I mean, most of these gangsta's are only gangsta's in their own head to begin with, so it's kind of fitting.
I don't know if this is entirely true, but every occasional shot generates the number 8 on the splat... could also be a pair of eyes.
@ModdedInkling Yeah I noticed that it might also be an infinity symbol or two o's in both the words Google and Splatoon
They do Easter eggs for some other games too.
Try "Sonic the Hedgehog"!
@john_lennon999 If they were releasing GoldenEye on NSO today, Nintendo probably would have put the date in the Direct it was announced it, since it was just a couple weeks ago. Because the others had 2023, I don’t think GoldenEye will be until late 2023 or early 2024. Maybe this day next year?
Also why is today 007 day? I don’t know a lot about it, but is it an anniversary or something?
I'll never be able to google Splatoon 3 in peace ever again.
@BabyYoda71 Yeah, it is the 60th Anniversary of the first movie, Dr. No. You'd think it would be tomorrow, 10-07 😅

It actually does work in other browsers. I tested in Vivaldi, Safari, and Firefox. All of them gave the easter egg.
@BabyYoda71 I don't think early 2024 but early 2023. Wrong, yesterday was 007 day, 05th of October! Yesterday was 60 years since the 1st movie was released. It was a perfect timing for Goldeneye to be released. I was hoping that we didn't have a date to be a surprise yesterday! Anyway! Off-topic! Let's wait! I started playing 007 Legends on WII U...
My wife showed me this one earlier, it's pretty cool.
@AlternateRT A good spot, thank you! The article has now been amended.
Whoa! Not the biggest fan of splatoon but I love hollow knight, so this made me feel more like Paintmaster Sheo than anything else.
@AlternateRT Doesn't work on DuckDuckGo though.
@OctoAmbush If you're talking about the DuckDuckGo browser, then I don't know what to tell you, it works for me there as well.
But just in case, if you're talking about the search engine, why would it? This is an easter egg specifically for Google's search engine.
Did it as soon as I read about it, on my mobile Android Edge browser. That was a fun few seconds.
