Re: PSA: The Physical Copy Of Just Dance 2023 Isn't Quite As 'Physical' As Expected

@victordamazio What? Nobody said physical games are superior, but if you buy a physical game, you expect a physical game, not a download code for a digital game. Also most of your points don’t make sense. Here’s counter arguments:

  • True, everyone agrees with that.
  • Neither do digital games… at some point any game will stop working.
  • Switch doesn’t use discs so…
  • If the hardware doesn’t work, it doesn’t matter if the game is digital or physical?
  • Digital games also take space, just a different kind.
  • Not related to Just Dance 2023 in any way
  • Not related to Nintendo Switch in any way
  • Only true in certain scenarios, usually not. Also if you buy the game digitally you can still play it offline.

@Sisilly_G Cardi B is an extreme example, but if you chose one of the other artists from this game, like, say, Harry Styles or Dua Lipa, then ask someone if they’d rather dance to one of their songs or Beethoven, most people wouldn’t pick Beethoven, especially the core audience of Just Dance.

Also, there’s a lot of modern songs that have compositions equally good or better than some older pieces. I think most people complaining about modern songs opinions are about pop stars’ vocals (which is personal taste) but based purely on composition, I would argue quality hasn’t dropped that much over time, just styles have changed.

I agree though that variety is low in Just Dance. I think Fuser did a really good job having songs for anyone, and I’m sure most other music-based games are okay, but Just Dance specifically is terrible at variety.

So I agree about the personal taste and quality/artistic merit thing, but I’ve seen many people on this site complain about the former, but act as if it’s the latter.

Re: Review: Sonic Frontiers - A Bold But Ultimately Failed Attempt At Something New

@Benjamin_K I mean, to be fair, user reviews on Metacritic with series like Sonic have quite a bit of bias, especially in the first few days of release. Most of the people who want to give a genuine review would post it once they finish, so in a few days that score could go down.

I think Metacritic is a lot more helpful than some people on this site do, but that’s mostly for critic scores, not user reviews.

I haven’t played the game (nor do I plan to), but based on the review it seems like it should be a 6, not a 4…

@Shepdawg1 You can’t really say it’s a slow news day if it’s only one hour into the day and the one news story so far happens to be related to something you consider uninteresting. Especially since this happens to be a lot more important than people seem to think, you’re all massively underestimating how much verification ticks mean
