Launching on Nintendo Switch this week is Neon Drive, an action-arcade game with a musical spin.
Inspired by arcade games of the '80s, Neon Drive has you navigating obstacles across eight levels which are said to offer "hours of enjoyment". Each of these levels comes with its own twists and turns - quite literally - as well as perspective changes to keep things looking funky fresh.
You'll have to keep your wits about you as you dodge the obstacles headed your way, with each level testing your reaction times and short term memory. Having said that, each level also comes with its own retro-inspired music track which syncs up with the obstacles on screen - you'll want to try to get into the groove to help your movements flow smoothly.
Features:
- 8 levels, hundreds of obstacles, and infinite challenge
- Breathtakingly beautiful and silky-smooth graphics
- Custom-made retro synth music, perfectly in sync with the obstacles
- Super addictive
- Includes exploding enemy spaceships, seriously!
- If you can win all the achievements, we hereby certify you have superhuman abilities!
Neon Drive launches on Switch on 19th September for $9.99. You'll be able to grab it directly from the Switch eShop.
Does this look like it might be right up your street? Let us know in the usual place.

Looks very interesting.
I love the art style, might be a day one buy!
This is clearly just one of those cheap mobile games
A $3.99 iPhone game from 2015. They just deleted "retina" from the appstore text. But somehow $10 in 2019 on Switch.
Only had 3 "controls"...Left, right and pause
Blade Runner, Fifth Elephant and Tron were films not games lol. Man, this game looks shallow and obvious.
I have this on PS4 (was on sale if I recall), it does have some great music and I like the graphics, but it is a mobile game really. I found it addictive for a while, but it can be really frustrating depending on how fun you find pressing left and right in a predetermined sequence. I found the later stages pretty difficult.
It’s an iOS game, and a pretty simple one at that. It’s about as even less so, than Jumping Joe & Friends.
@GrailUK Fifth Elephant? Who, Dumbo?
In other/more interesting - racing news, Asphalt is coming Oct 9th.
@Agramonte Yea it's nothing great
better off getting OutRun or Virtua Racing instead of this
I miss the Burnout games.
Nah, GRID Autosport and my analogue shoulders will have me sorted for a while.
Got this on PC, and for the money it's an absolute cracker of a rhythm game. The music is brill, the neon hued graphics hit the spot and it provides a good challenge.
Deffo a solid 7 from me.
@Realness I wish I could say it was auto correct...but it's my lame sense of humour lol.
Doesn't look fun.
@GrailUK That just makes it better. Wish I had known. Next time, I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt. Leave a little wiggle room for humor.
Hmmm....NOPE! 80s Arcade Racer is the game you want and its already on the 3DS.
I wanted 80’ arcade racer until 1990.
Great fun with test drive....
Wasn’t synth wave nor tron-es que experience.
Don’t mess with my memories !!
The music is amazing, but $10 is really pushing it. Wait for a $1 sale
It looks beautiful, but i’m not spending $10 on a mobile game. I’m just gonna wait for a sale.
@Agent721 80's Overdrive!
There was a suggestion that a Switch version might be in the works, though that was over a year ago.
Heck yes! Looks sick!
Too bad it's not the TRON-style game I've been waiting for... guess I'll keep waiting.
@ToneDeath Yup, hopefully it still comes.
