80’s Overdrive Comes to North America on 14th December

Seems a little too late to the party. I wonder how many Switch owners will dust of the ol’ 3DS

Would be a lot more interested if it was coming out on the Switch to be honest . Love the synthwave music though!

Looks great! Plus really digging music!

What’s a 3DS?

The trailer got me even more excited. Great music indeed. I'll be sure to pick this up. Don't care that's not on Switch, I still play my 3DS too. Good price too.

Damn i wish this was for the switch, enjoy 3ds owners.

LOVE the art style of this game. They nailed the 80's look plus it looks like it will be in 3D! Day 1 buy for me!

Reminds me of nights full of Lotus Esprit Turbo Challenge.

It got me excited months ago. It's a clear rip-off of Out Run, but who cares?

The problem is, although the 3DS on the video has the 3D slider up, I suspect it won't be autostereoscopic 3D, because in the description they talk about "a 2D racing game". Maybe considering when they started developing the game it does have a 3D effect, because developers weren't so blatantly prone to ditch the feature back then, but who knows? I, for one, think it will be another one of the increasing list of no-3D 3DS games.

I'll buy it anyway, but 9,99 strikes me as a little bit pricey. I will be waiting for reviews, though, and then I'll decide.

This game look fantastic, but I'm too much into Switch now, I don't want to spend money on 3DS. I'd like this game for Switch I'd buy it immediately.

Too late to the party! It's all about the switch this Christmas!

Awesome I'm getting this day one for sure (unlike the negative Nancy Switch owners above me who only came here to complain about their precious tablet not getting this awesome good game as if it's the only platform in the market now) as I enjoy that era of arcade style racing.

@Moroboshi876 out run looked fantastic in 3D so i hope that this was gonna be in 3D?

@Tate24 I hope so, and I hope the programmers thought so too.

It remind me more of Rad Racer on Nes than Out Run.

I would have been all over this a year ago but too into switch now and my 3ds is now tucked away

This seems pretty cool. What I am gonna ask for is Rock n Roll Racing for the Switch, pleeeeease! It should be given a Mania treatment. A mix of old worlds, cars, with a nice few additions. I'd pay 20 bucks for that in a heartbeat!

This looks cool but should have made the switch to the switch

Just cleared all the courses in Out Run 3D this week, with max traffic. Good times 🌴☁️

@nintendolife
Do you guys plan on reviewing this 3DS game this time? You shouldn’t bother giving a game like this this much coverage if you don’t plan to review review.

@MattFox I think that game's rights belong to Blizzard. I would love to see that, too.

Awesome. Looks great

Darn, it actually took me a minute to realize that this is going to be a 3DS release instead of a Switch one. Not sure if I'm going to pick this up then. Looks cool, but I think I'll rather hold out for a possible Switch release at some point, esp. since this looks like an excellent fit for the system.

Been waiting for this game since it was announced. Don't know if I'll pick up day one or after xmas though. (Hoping to get some eshop cards for xmas) we'll see if I can be patient just a bit longer. Prefer the Switch of course, but this was put together by a 2 man team with maybe two other part timers, so I understand they only had access and time enough to make it for the console that was out when they started.

I was a big fan of the inspiration for this back in the day. I hope they have equelly fetching music in this.

they mean '80s overdrive

i want this for my switch!!!!

Looks pretty retro-cool.

@Moroboshi876 Well, it says on the official website that it is in stereoscopic 3D: http://www.80soverdrive.com/ (see "features")

@impurekind Thanks! Some information was misleading, but if they themselves say that, it must be true. I'll definitely buy it, unless the reviews are bad.

Buying this day 1 for sure. Can't wait!

@Moroboshi876 I think when they said 2D, they were referring to the game using 2D Sprite Scaling as opposed to 3D Polygons. Most racing games of the 80's were Sprite Scaling 2D (exceptions such as 'Hard Driving') it wasn't until games like Virtua Racing where 3D polygons were used

@gurtifus I was thinking the same thing. Now would be the time to bring back 3d Rad Racer!

Nice... oh, it's for 3DS. Mm, that's ok, I'm all in on Switch these days. I just pop in on my 3DS to play Lufia here and there, and the only other game I'm waiting on is for Shovel Knight: King of Cards. Then my 3DS retires permanently except for the odd music or camera cases.

Wish it were coming to the Switch because OutRun with a Countach is a dream come true. And while I'm dreaming, can we PLEASE get an OutRun port on a Nintendo console for once?!?

I'm happy it comes to the 3DS because Outrun looks awesome on it's 3D versión and this probably Will look similar.

@bluedogrulez The 3DS version? .

@Oscarzxn: Console, not handheld. Really amazing it has not happened to date (except through a Gamecube GBA adapter).

This 80s kids says yes! Looks radical!

I figured this project was dead. Glad to see it happening after all.

@Mr_Horizon Ah, you've had those too, huh? When me and a buddy had finally finished all the tracks in both Lotus 2 and 3, we moved on to Jaguar XJ220, which caused us to do yet another marathon...

While a Switch version would be nice, a see why this is on the 3DS. The 3D effect is great in games like this.

Please come west and add a Switch version in there for good measure!!! Day 1 for me on both!

@adh56 haven’t touched my 3DS since the last round of Sega 3D classics releases! But this I might have to grab being a huge Outrun fan!

This game looks damn cool, I wish it was on the Switch. I might still grab it.

I really don't understand the "let's forget the 3DS" joke. Maybe it's since I also don't understand why everyone needs to upgrade to the newest iPhone everytime one comes out. I love my 3DS (there's still tons of games out there and in my backlog I've got to play) and will continue playing on it just like I'm still playing with all my older systems.

Speaking of racing games, I always wanted 90s Arcade Racer to be finished for the Wii U (I think it was a kickstarter game ). Never was completed. It did get renamed, though, and is supposed to be coming to the Switch.

Looking forward to this!

I am all for this and Shakedown Hawaii, please! I hope it is in stereoscopic 3D like the Sega 3D racer.

Oh yeah baby, been waiting for this one. And it's on the 3DS where it belongs. (:

And what with the "I want this on the Switch waaa waaa"? I understand putting the WiiU to the side for the Switch, but the 3DS? It's still the #1 Handheld for me, and I'm nowhere near done with it. It's the perfect system.

They probably should have moved this to the Switch.

Many switch cry babies on here, i own a switch but very happy to see the 3Ds still getting lots of love from devs and fans

Holy poo why isnt this on the Switch, i got excited and then........

Surely the 3D outrun would be better 🤔

3ds...eww

Nothing wrong with the 3DS - I hope it gets love for years to come. The system is damn near perfect! I love the Switch just like everyone else, but there's still lots of room in my life for the incredible library available on the 3DS. For instance, can't wait for Radiant Historia: Perfect Chronology, The Alliance Alive, Shovel Knight: King of Cards, Kirby: Battle Royale (in North America)...I'm happy to support developers still putting out quality games on the 3DS eShop. I think about Brian Provinciano and the Retro City Rampage debacle on the Wii eShop. Sure, the game is playable on even my toaster now, but great developers putting out great games? If I own the system, I'll support them.

I wanted it to be on the switch!

I just wish this would be released on the Switch as well.

LOL @ everyone assuming the 3DS is dead, when Dragon Quest 11 hasn't even released in most of the world yet.

Definitely reminds me of original Arcade Outrun !

@adh56 There are 50MM 3DS owners that don't own a Switch.

@adh56 There are 50MM 3DS owners that don't own a Switch.

So excited for this and was scared it was for the Switch at first. All systems have games that come out in their twilight years that don't always get ported over to the next gen system and that's a good thing. I wish this was physical though. But if this games winds up being so hard I will scream bloody murder. Make it hard as hell, but please at least have all or most of the tracks available to play at least for time trials. Some of us have bad brains and dumb fingers... great now I'm sounding as entitled as the Switch owners in this thread, sorry!

Hi All here!
Just to clarify - game has full stereoscopic 3D during menus & gameplay.
We hope you will enjoy our "little" game

Thank you @insane_code for the clarification on the 3D effect being added , So its a day one purchase for me. 2D titles such as this look incredible on the 3DS in stereoscopic 3D, I love my Switch but it doesn't have stereoscopic 3D so my 3DS still gets plenty of play the 3DS is still my alltime favorite system and the Switch has a long way to go to claim that title though it is making strides with the incredible games its been getting . ANYWAY looking forward to the game and thanks for adding 3D.

I was very excited for this game over a year ago, but after waiting so long and moving onto other systems I have lost most of my interest in it. I don't play my Nintendo 3DS hardly anymore. Still looks like a fun game though.

@Romeo-75 thank you for kind words.
We are very happy, that we are releasing that game. We tried to make this game to bring more fun with every play.
We hope every player will find something nice and joyful for himself. Game has three different "modules" with ancient game codes sharing model, sooooooo just have as much fun as we had during testing.
Anyway, please be gentle with our game

@maceng don’t get me wrong, I think it looks like it could be a great game and of course I realize the install base on 3ds is much greater then Switch. That being said I just hope does well for them and not another Chicken Wiggle situation

@matteus You can customize your car in several ways. There is a track editor. Uses the 3D effect.

Want me to continue?

Me, me, me !
I can add bit more 6 cars, 8 tracks... some easter eggs. Codes from track editor, which can be shared with friends with "old way", 13 unique full-length sound tracks (some designed for our game).

Nice! Been waiting for this one.

Aww too late for me. If they port it to switch then I will buy it.

YEEEEEEESSSSSS!!

Awesome! Been waiting for this one for a whale's age. Probably not an Outrun or Chase HQ beater, but who the heck cares? It looks absolutely brilliant! I'm just hoping that it at least plays as good as the likes of WEC Le Mans and Cisco Heat, two pretty nifty racers from back in the day, 'cause that would be aces! And if it is as fun as Sega's 16-bit best, well... I may explode. Or shed a tear. Or leak from somewhere else. One of the three.

Happy-happy-joy-joy times! It's nearly here and I'm fit to burst! BURST, I say! Yippeeee!

Been waiting on this one. If it's not less than 6 bucks though I will pass until I see a sale. I can't justify paying more for this when a beautiful copy of Outrun sits there with beautiful 3d for 5.99 and goes on sale 3 or 4 times a year for 2.99. If it's another14.99 price like they have been lately, I will just put this one behind me.

IT IS ACTUALLY AVAILABLE IN EUROPE. On Sunday. O_o

I will get this for my 3ds. I like the graphics and music and it brings that 80s nostalgia. It reminds me of Outrun and Top Gear style of games. I wish you would take into consideration bringing this to the Nintendo Switch. I think split screen with two players would be awesome.

It's pretty good Great look and soundtrack. Loving it so far.

"420" KPH, nice...

Looks cool, I also hope it gets a Switch release too.

Very jealous of 3DS owners, would love this on Switch!

This looks freaking awesome! I had to watch the trailer again. Love '80s style racing. Anything '80s, really. Reminds me of Out Run but better. I hope it is. Purchasing on day one.

Big Update - game is available on 7th December.
