Who doesn't love a brain-testing game of Picross? We were definitely well-served on the 3DS, but now it's time for Jupiter to bring us Picross S for the Switch eShop. It will launch in Europe and North America on 28th September for £7.19 / €7.99 / $7.99.
This time around there are 300 puzzles available in Picross and Mega Picross modes. In addition to keeping the useful assist function of previous games in the series, ease of play and game quality remain unchanged.
A new addition to the Switch version is a two-player mode where you can work together to solve puzzles. You'll be able to play together with family and friends on the couch or in tabletop mode to get a fresh new experience, different than the usual single player mode seen in previous versions of the game. Sounds like a hoot!
Picross fans should be well catered for here. Do you plan to check this out later in the month?

Not a fan of Picross but judging by how many are on the 3DS I guess a lot of people do
Huge fan of these games!
I ploughed 90 hours into Mario's Super Micross on the Wii U's VC.
Yay! I was hoping a Picross game would come soon. 2 player mode sounds fun if I had a player 2. 😔
I'm
Picross that it's not on Wii U.Wow, and an announcement just a week before release too ? Nice.
Great news!
Sweet! Wish it was announced in the Direct though, that would have been a nice surprise.
Interesting, so they've finally brought back 2-player Picross.
They actually had a 2-player mode in the Picross NP Volumes released exclusively in Japan via their "Nintendo Power" service.
Mega Picross is bad in my opinion!
I wonder if there will be a last Picross e, namely Picross e8. After all, there are also 8 Nintendo power picross volumes. As far as I know.
But this Picross s...it sounds just like a straight Picross e continuation (with added 2 player mode, I'll admit). It doesn't sound very special, but we'll wait and see!
Pretty keen. Always enjoyed the Picross e games on the 3DS as a bit of a time waster when I was on the train and whatnot. Can't complain with more or the same but on Switch.
@Henmii I actually really like Mega Picross.
@BenAV,
Good for you! I really don't like Mega Picross. And the fact that they give the same solutions nowadays doesn't help either. I much rather have some Micro picross puzzles.
Please no more picross
Oh Switch eShop, I love you so much... @Henmii Mega Picross is utterly awesome! I'm sure it's not that you don't like it, maybe you don't understand it!
Just want I wanted, a picross game on Switch!
I will probably take it.
Mega Picrosses are awesome! I love them!
Oh wow, my favourite game. Still yet to finished all the 7 games on 3DS but I will buy this. Yes this and Dig 2. Yes.
Finally, Picross on TV in full HD.
Nnnoooo!!!! Go away!!!!
I want to play Pokkén and Fifa!!
Where were you during the launch drought?!!!!!
@SLIGEACH_EIRE The first few times it was funny.
Posting the same comment every time there's a new game announced for the Switch is not funny, why you keep doing this?
Add a puzzle editor it god damnit!
This just made my day! Yes!!
I didn't get any Picross e games after e2 but I'll get S to see if it's any different. I'm more of a fan of Mario's Picross series and Pokémon Picross. It's been two months since I finished Picross 2 for GB so I'm ready to solve more puzzles again.
I hope they've added 20x20 - 30x30 puzzles too since 20x15 takes me only 5-10 minutes. I'd like some more challenging puzzles while keeping the focus on smaller puzzles since smaller ones are more fun in a long run.
Excellent, excellent news. Love a bit of Picross.
Considering the My Nintendo Picross game was absolute class I may have to get this.
@Henmii Agreed. I do the Mega Picross as a complitionist, but they are my least favorite part. I do like the logic challenge it presents. I just wish they weren't recycled pictures of the regular game.
Two player mode doesn't interest me. Sounds like it would be frustrating.
Lord yes. Secret best puzzle series
Love me some Picross. Looking forward to it.
@ganonms
Just ignore SLIGEACH_EIRE. He is doing it to gain attention, and responding to his "comments" is what he wants.
Not until I've cleared Picross E7, Mario's Super Picross and Marion's Picross 2, dagnammit! I've only just finished the Zelda one!
To be honest, the Pokémon one almost burned me out on these, as it really dragged out if you didn't want to pay for picrites. Thankfully Zelda got me back on track.
And Mega Picross as a concept is great, it's just disappointing that the pictures are reused from normal mode.
Half the price and double the player count of Piczle DX. I'm in.
Yes technically they are different puzzle types but they are similar enough to make the comparison.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE you mean that it wasn't on Wii U, ya?
I'm going to have to defend my time on the Switch — my roommate's girlfriend loves this game. Maybe having a communal Switch was a bad idea...
@BensonUii Bitter much?
@Haiassai Between the DS and the 3DS there's been 10 different Picross games and not a single one on Wii U. It's just one tiny example but it's little surprise the Wii U failed when it wasn't supported.
Co-op is always good no matter how you put it.
@BensonUii @RadioShadow
As I suspected! I usually ignore him, but I guess today I had enough already.
Anyway, bit excited for this game, used to love Picross, might buy this one!
Ooo... I love the picross games on 3DS. Hope this gets confirmation of a NA release soon.
Picross picross....
i freaking love picross, but i don't own a switch
So...many...games....
Nice! Love Picross. I wonder why this wasn't in the Direct.
Ooh yeah love me some Picross!
@SLIGEACH_EIRE don't get me wrong — I getcha. I love my Wii U. Still have it hooked up. And support was a big reason it died young. But what's done is done and the Wii U's life is over. It's just how it worked out in the end. So to say you're crossed that it's not on Wii U is a statement of denial. It didn't, it sucks, but it's over. :/
Yasssssss!
Great news but I'm still working my way through Picross 3d round 2 on my 3ds
@Wazeddie22 I'm too. Only a few puzzle from the (real) end...
With absolutly NO error on any puzzle, of course
The only regret I have with the Switch, is we might never have a Picross 3D Round 3 because it needs a stylus. (Or does it ? Maybe they'll find a way...)
Free time ...I hardly knew ye.
Well the time has finally come for me to make an EU Nintendo account... This will be my obsession until Mario comes out.
@smashboy2000 No errors at all?impressive I only have a few "books" with no errors...it's Damn frustrating trying to get those shapes you need to unlock more lol
Hopefully they will find a way cuz to be honest ,since doing the 3d pic cross,going back to the originals just isant half as fun.
@Wazeddie22
yes, no error at all. If I do 2 or 3 errors, it's because I'm falling asleep while playing But I try again the next day.
I've never done a 2D picross. 3D Round 2 is my first.. We'll... I guess I'll make my own opinion next week.
(but I have to admit that what you say is what I feared)
I've played more than my fair share of Picross so I'm sure I'd pick this one up on Switch.
YES, take my money. I’m going to Japan in a few weeks, and this will be perfect for the long flight.
I love Picross! Surprised it took them this long to do proper multiplayer.
Sign me up!
Cool.
I'm sad I won't be controlling this with a stylus though. Using a controller is less elegant, and I'm sure my fingers are even worse.
@smashboy2000 oh don't get me wrong,I love anything pic cross but after playing so many over the years and then having the chance to play the first 3d version on the DS it's a complete different experience.I still love the original versions but they just don't give me as much satisfaction playing them.
But If you haven't played the normal Pic cross you may feel the opposite and love them more than the 3d
@SuperCharlie78,
Lol, I understand them but find them to cumbersome.
@drich255,
Yeah, I only do them for completionist-sake too.
