Like any console, the Wii U has seen its fair share of stinkers. Not every game can be like Splatoon, Super Mario 3D World or Bayonetta 2; some will invariably fall short of greatness and make you wonder exactly what compelled you to hand over your hard-earned cash in the first place.
However, if you've ever wondered exactly which Wii U game deserves the title of "worst ever" then allow us to present Zombie Brigade. Packed with terrible visuals, annoying sound effects and ropey gameplay, this endless runner should be avoided at all costs, and to prove how poor it is, we put poor Alex in a room and locked the door, refusing to allow him out until he had fully experienced the sheer horror of eShop shovelware.
Grab some popcorn and enjoy. And once you've finished watching, let us know if you can think of a worse title on Wii U than this one.

I think some of those sound effects were in meme run, it is a conspiracy the same guys back again... Nintendo really need to keep a eye out for this kind of thing and put a stop to it before it gets released.
To be Fair @Alexolney - you do have a very privileged position at NintendoLife - yo get to see all the cool stuff and you've got the fantastic Switch Presentation later tonight(tomorrow morning 4am haha!) so it's only right that you have to go through this (Your best ever video by the way!) .
I would have liked to see you ring up the developer on the video lol. .
does anyone remember Meme Run?
that was fine art compared to this.
An annoyed Alex makes for excellent tv. The most enjoyable video yet lol
Oh my god, what are you doing??

Don't let him out.
It can get pretty awful, being a Nintendo gamer, once you realize shovelware makes an alarmingly huge percentage of the Wii U's third-party support (technically speaking). I know there are many great indies (hello there, Gunman Clive) but still.
Which isn't that bad per se, if we didn't get kind of spoiled with the excellence of Nintendo's own first-party software. So we have some near-perfect games, some awful games, and a gaping hole of nothingness in between. The same third-party IPs we're not getting anytime soon, unless the Switch hopefully turns the tables.
Before I watch, lemme guess, this was made by Ninja Pig, wasn't it?
Why did Nintendo allow this game to be released on their system? Where's the quality control in this?
Suffering is the sauce that makes good things even better.
It's right up there alright but there's been several real stinkers on Wii U. It's definitely not worth £4.49. Maybe £1 would be alright. I wouldn't buy it but some people like these endless runners and there is some effort that was put into making the game.
Santa Factory

Frenchy Bird and Meme Run also are piles of garbage. We were spared the latter's release in Europe.
The first shot in the video reminded me of Handi-Quacks.
Hey at least it better than Ride to Hell: Retributions, $onic 2006, and $uperman 64. Only thing is that if they took out the annoying interrupting person and add in more levels and power-ups it would be a good on-rail action game.
This looks like a worth while purchase
The studio that made this also made Cube Life; the decent Minecraft clone mentioned in the video. Back then, people who bought Cube Life were promised a free upcoming title. THIS IS THAT FREE GAME.
Actually really like the theme music as well!
Wow giga zombies.....awesome!
A public service announcement too painful to watch in full. Not that it isn't fun seeing Alex mystified.

@AlexOlney If you had to play this game or Fit Music for Wii U for a day, which one would you pick? I know you didn't review that game but still.
Sweet, swirly onion rings! I used to throw MAD shade at The Letter a few years back, but this makes that look solid!
I'm still on the fence for this one. Could we get a review for this game please?
R.I.P in peace 19XX-2017. "He sacrified himself for his art. It wasn't worth it".
Ladies and gentlemen, we ought to repent for our sins ASAP because we've just seen what eternal damnation looks like.
I can't wait for the sequel on NS.
But I'm afraid we have asked too much from Alex. Will he still find us lovely?
Here I thought that FPS Draw the line was gonna get that award (no offense to the devs but its a terrible looking game).
Jesus the amusment we can get with garbage shovelware. No that's an insult to shovelware games. These are just disastrous
But is this a slow news day or something? :/
I mean.... What's going on with the women? Is she one of the Devs or their wives? Utterly shameful way to get your 15 minutes.... 😑
The women is kinda funny. Edit: Ok, by the end of the video she's getting annoying....
Though that was probably wasn't their intention...
This game appears to basically be a knock-off of the game Zombie Tsunami.
...if Zombie Tsunami had been void of coherency and focus.
The tick tock was your power up running out. I figured that out after the 3rd or 5th time it did it…
The base gameplay mechanic can potentially be fun. Just the implementation of the rest of the gameplay is awful… the presentation is bad, and they included that annoying "random" woman and made about 56 questionable design decisions.
@Pod I couldn't remember the name of the game, thanks. But yeah, Zombie Tsunami was the same basic idea done fun. But it was actually simpler, and also had awful graphics.
Which is why I'm having so much trouble seeing how they managed to mess it up…
@allav866 Nope, Cyproidia, the Cube Life: Island Survival guyss.
Awww man...... That's awful! I feel your pain Alex. Play some real side scroller to get rid of that pain! I recommend Viewtiful Joe, its 100 times way better, I'm sure you know that already.
Ouch...!! >_<
0/10
Not even a game at all.
Oh, Alex. Please play some Wonderful games to heal your pain like Curaga / Full Cure. I can feel your pain too.
I NEED A SWITCH PORT NOW!
Ehh......it's a free game for CubeLife owners, and by the sounds of it, not the one they planned on since they have moved onto Switch development and didn't want to break their promise. Probably still not the worst game either.....Skunk, Ninja Pig, TreeFall, RMXCAPITALLETTERSGUY all have games as bad or worse.
Um...almost all of the games (not all, but about 70% of them) on the E-shop (indie side, not virtual console side) have been bad games. Gravity Badgers locks the system, you have to turn off the whole console in order to get out of the game...The Letter is pretty sad and most of the other games are cheap and cheesy games to make a quick buck...only making them playable for a few minutes. I've found quite a few that are good gems (little Inferno, Mighty Switch Force, Mutant Mudds, Gunman Clive) but almost all of them are crap! I really truly hope the Switch doesn't have all the shovel ware on their e-shop, the Wii hasn't had that many bad ones, so I really hope we get the good ones on Switch...seems like the Wii U just got dumped with dump games instead of great ones.
@Cypronia Come here Cypronia ! What the f... is that ! Is that all you're able to make !? after Cube Life !?!
As a free game I don't see what the problem is. After all when Cube Life came out and did so well in the charts he offered to give us all who purchased it a free game. He didn't have to do that, after all this was offered to people AFTER they had bought the game so it wasn't like it had been an incentive to purchase Cube Life.
Is it a good game, not really. Would I have bought it, probably not. But as I see it, it is a case of a man fulfilling his word to people who invested money in his games to start with and as we have seen since the NX has been announced, a lot of people have started backing out on their commitment to the wiiU. For this reason I applaud the developer for keeping his word when to most companies their word is next to worthless.
Anyone ever play zombie tsunami on mobile?
If this gamer weren't abysmal, it would be that.
60fps FTW! Struggling to be any more positive, and I've promised myself not to ever post negative stuff.
@Mega_Yarn_Poochy Can you really blame me for thinking it was made by the brilliant minds that brought Meme Run to the eShop?
@retro_player_22 No profanity, thanks, and please don't try to partially censor or beat the filter, just use a more appropriate word.
The game's actually not that bad, especially since I got it for free. It's got to be better than paying for a lot of the stuff that RCMADIAX et al made, or asset flipped as the case may be. Claiming it's the worst Wii U title seems a bit click bait-y to me, but hey, whatever it takes to keep the lights on I guess.
The plays on words on the hotels in the background were mildly entertaining.
Hello everybody!
thank you all for your comments.
1) The game is a parody game - do not take it seriously
2) The game was a FREE gift for all Cube Life: Island Survival customers.
Thank you Alex, for your time testing it. It was a nightmare to develop this game, too. It is not easy to develop the best game of the worst games on the Wii U
@gurtifus It is not all, we are able to make. Again, Zombie Brigade is a parody - side project. Currently we develop Cube Life for the Switch:

I oughta get AGameAWeek onto the Switch!
@ButchCassidy79 Quality control on the Wii U Eshop? That's the funniest thing I've heard all day.
This looks like something that would've been on Newgrounds in the early 2000s.
That woman is more annoying than the "Where did you learn to fly" thing.
...I think the Skunk Software bundle was a smidge better, and I didn't even have to pay anything for that.
...Not that it stayed on my system long anyway.
@Cypronia So who is the girl?!
It is not that bad...
Still, the floaty nature of the jumps really kill it for me.
@Cypronia Well I want to thank you for sticking to your word. I was one of the many people who bought Cube Life before your offer of a free game. And you did it, just like you made the cube life update like you said you would. With so many developers out there not bothering to fix and update their games or just pulling out of development when things are looking tough it would have been easy for you to "forget" the promises you made and you didn't. Thank you. I know the game is bad but I also know it's a parody game. If this game had been a free flash game on the net or an android game people would have got the joke and loved it, just because it's on the eShop everyone is like, "where is Nintendo's quality control"
Poor Alex be it me I wouldn't have such patience. I guess some games are better untouched and deeply forgotten...
@ChrisHoi how is this free when it cost almost 5 euro?
I missed getting this for free. I am NOT paying a fiver for it.
Though if I had it, I probably would play it.
Platinum pays devs like this to make shovelware so Mayonetta inevitably looks good in comparison. When's Sterling gonna blow the lid off this one?
Well at least the Switch Presentation is tonight. So go drink your pint, play some pokemon and relax now Alex.
@Cypronia I'm making a mental note right now to never buy a game from your company, as you clearly can't distinguish quality on a professional level. Calling this "parody" is just the common self-delusion of trolls who can't face the fact that bad actions are... bad.
Pushing crap product as "parody" is still pushing crap product.
Is Alex's boss on some Witness Protection Scheme? That sounded like a serious voice changer rather than a phone line.
@Priceless_Spork I didn't know it was on 3DS. There was that Cube Creator but I didn't think much of that.
day one for me.
After seeing that I think I'd like to go play Zombi U...or anything that isn't this.
raptor, oh yeah nevermind.
Looks terrible
