Splatoon Hackers Make Octoling A Playable Character

This would be a sweet DLC down the line. Octolings look pretty awesome.

Free update allowing changes to your character's appearance, including Octoling hair would be great.

Seriously, squids are my favorite animal so making the octopus people playable hardly entices me, already got what I want.

I think octolings will be saved for A) a special mode B) sequel/3DS Spin off

I don't think the choice will be DLC. Look at their headgear. They phase through their hair.

I don't know why we couldn't play as them in the first place! Or at least go up against bots outside of the campaign.

Since Octolings plays as Inklings I doubt that Nintendo planned to have them as playable characters, however those bad girls/octopus have a huge fanbase; I won't be surprised if this will influence the game in future updates.

Anyway... isn't also the weapon hacked? I'm pretty sure my Splash-o-matic doesn't have a "megaphone" attached and neither those sub and special.

They could just make the octoling hairstyle a headgear option that replaces the squid hair.

Sploosh-o-matic is different from the Splash-o. Sploosh is more like the splat jr in terms of accuracy.

It would be cool if we can be Octolings, though it would be amazing if we can play as the Octarians (male) with full clothing options.

I wish the Octolings were unlocked after you beat the single player campaign.

Let's be honest - people only really care about the hair. Just give them that and they'll be happy. And that shouldn't be too hard. Also, I wonder what male Octolings would look like...

I think the Splatoon sequel will be Octonarian based. Maybe a prequel of sorts. Game would still be the same.

@Splatburst I know they are different weapons, but it's pretty obvious one is designed to look like a modified version of the other XD

But my point was refered to the weapon in the video be unlocked, I don't remember it being already aviable officially, which mean they hacked even the future weapons's updates... I know hackers got the infos about them, but I didn't know they even managed to load them up from the disk.

I definitely want to play as an Octoling. Already assumed it'd be relatively easy to implement since the art assets have already been made. Just be a case of if/how/when Nintendo decide they want to do it.

Though thinking about it, a lot of those hats and other headgear might not fit on the Octolings, so maybe not quite as easy to just throw the switch and let players pick Octoling at the start.

Possibly an idea for a deathmatch mode? Instead of squid v squid as normal it could be squid v octos.

I was always hoping for Inklings vs Octolings (I thought it'd be weird if they were on the same team....but that's just me ) we could have a splatfest where we could vote squid or octopus then get it on during splatfest I'd get this DLC for sure .

I'd like to see playable octolings as dlc or in a sequel maybe with different physics the way luigi differs from mario.
And if there's a sequel the story mode has to be about a young cap'n cuttlefish

I think it would be really cool if they made octolings playable through dlc. Would add some extra flavour to the game.

I'd like to play as Octolings, but not if it looks like this hack. I wonder if the actual octolings could be used to replace the entire inkling character, up to and including the voice samples.
However, I feel like it would be slightly unfair to give us a female-only character if the male inklings have no counterpart, so I hope that, if we do get playable octolings, it's either a different story mode, or we get some sort of male octoling (the tentacles could form a long ponytail for them).

I don't like hearing 'haker' in relation to an online game i'm currently playing.

The main issue would be all the headgear would need alternate Octoling variants. Inkling headgear clips through. Plus there doesn't appear to be a male version either.

Basically it's a lot of work, so I can't see it happening. Not this time. But maybe if we get a Splatoon 2 where the Inklings and Octolings have to team up against a new threat?

I'd love to play as an Octoling, though I doubt they've got any plans to do that in this game, and it might require a fair amount of work to implement it.

It would be great to see a sequel to Splatoon where you can play from the Octoling's perspective.

Yep, we will be able to play as them. As soon as Nintendo makes the Amiibo of course!

Is there a boy version of the Octoling? I'd just love some additional "hair" styles for when you're not wearing a hat.

That's actually really cool. Octolings should have as many rights as Inklings! Let the racism die!

I'm guessing they'll be playable in the sequel. Nintendo can't blow up their load in DLC for the game...
