Re: Feature: Our Predictions For The February 2023 Nintendo Direct

umbreon_sylveon

Mario party! I need some new maps!

But here’s my wish list:
Tears of the kingdom epic trailer like we got in 2017 for breath of the wild

Pikmin 4 info

Mario Party DLC or new game

Pokémon DLC for scarlet and violet

Addition of mods N64 games or a switch game

Ends with Metroid prime 4 details and a Metroid prime 1-3 release.

This would be EPIC

AMAZING game. I wanted it so desperately I got it on STEAM before it could get spoiled for me. It was an addicting game for sure. I absolutely loved the first portion of the game, each subsequent "chapter" went a little down hill for me. But I'll give the game as a whole a 9/10. Don't read anything. If you are vaguely interested, just get it! It will be unlike anything you thought it would be.

Re: The Outbound Ghost Dev Issues An Apology Regarding Switch Performance Issues

umbreon_sylveon

I bought it and accidentally got 2 copies lol. Started it today and… I want to play it! But the problems stack on fast. I’m getting lag while doing the action timing commands (that’s critical in paper Mario games!) and also an obscene amount of loading before EVERY fight. I’m talking 5-15 seconds. I’m talking, you can consider taking a break and peeing when you run into an enemy.

It’s very fun, but you need a lot of patience to play it as it is currently on switch.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Pokémon Scarlet And Violet?

umbreon_sylveon

8/10 for me. It is glitchy, but it's hella fun. Enjoy the auto battles for exp farming. I also enjoy the open world much more than I thought I would. So much freedom! There's almost too many Pokemon! I'm having a hard time deciding who to keep in my party! Should I keep my grass starter and my Charcadet which is very weak until I can evolve it midgame? Or should I scrap both and raise my Capsacid for a Scovillain and have an open slot to try another new mon? Decisions, decisions.

FUN!

I am in Seattle and my God is the crime bad. I moved to the suburbs but work in Seattle proper. The crime and homelessness and drug abuse is disgusting. The politicians DO NOT CARE about the average working citizen. They only care about letting criminals and homelessness run rampant and blame the system (that they are running) and treat the criminals as the victim. I've been attacked by homeless people twice while walking near work. Absolute BS Democratic stronghold of a government that refuses to actually make the city work for the average citizen.

Re: Feature: How Stardew Valley Grew The Farm Sim While Harvest Moon Went To Seed

umbreon_sylveon

I have played many Harvest Moon titles over the years. Multiple on the GBC, GBA, DS, 3DS, and Gamecube. NOTHING prepared me for the majesty that is Stardew Valley. It is a flawless game in my opinion.

From the same-sex dating, the fun combat and cave system, the characters, and the farm itself, it just hits every level for me.

Friends of mineral town was the best in the genre until Stardew Valley came to town. What an achievement and it will continue to be written about for a long time. To me, it is one of those games that will be remembered in history as a game changer akin to Zelda OoT, Mario 64, Goldeneye, Half-Life, Halo, etc.

Re: Paper Mario Tribute 'The Outbound Ghost' Gets Physical Release Date On Switch

umbreon_sylveon

@NoodlesAndBeans meh. Bug fables was mechanically good, but the characters were just not hitting the levels of Bow, Vivian, Ms Mowz, Sir Grodus, Bowser, and more. Also the chapters themselves did not cut it either. There was not a single story segment that hit the levels of PM genius like, "Of Glitz and Glory", "For the Pigs the Bell Tolls", "The Key to Pirates", and "The Invincible Tubba Blubba". These stories are all so damn memorable. I just finished Bug Fables 2 months ago and I can barely remember the different areas.

Bug Fables was a good game, but it wasn't great.

Re: Review: Tinykin - A Wholesome Platforming Spin On Pikmin

umbreon_sylveon

@Sequel I’m in total agreement. IMHO these indie games are trying to recapture the magic of a couple of genres that many fans feel are losing their luster. We all know the most successful was Stardew Valley and what it did for fans of harvest moon. I’m currently playing TemTem and I’m very pleased by the choices made to set it apart from Pokémon so far. Personally I’m very excited for the outbound ghost and hope that it gets me close to the level of joy I got from paper Mario and paper Mario TYYD. Bug Fables was great but it just didn’t have the charm to draw me in.

Nintendo has left being many fans behind for a number of franchises. It seems like many games are getting the Stardew valley treatment these days. But none so far have completely knocked it out of the park like SV did. But boy am I happy with the choices!

Re: The Outbound Ghost

umbreon_sylveon

Personally very excited for this game. Bug fables was good, but it just didn’t have the Mario charm. I’m hoping that I care a bit more about the characters and story for this game. Thousand Year Door is one of my top 5 favorite games of all time.

Re: Review: Pokémon Sword And Shield - A Solid Start To Gen 8 On Switch, Despite The Hate

umbreon_sylveon

I personally think it’s a 7. When I see the reviews on ign and whatnot at 9s, it makes me feel like I am maybe losing faith or interest in Pokémon? That’s fine if you all LOVED it. I didn’t. Something about the magic of the games disappeared after Sun and Moon for me. Is it because I’m maturing and am losing interest in the genre? Maybe. I am personally excited for the TemTem release. The added difficulty and that the monsters seem to all be viable competitively (around the 450-485 stats) it makes me happy to know that people have the opportunity to make cool teams. Much unlike Pokémon where most are just downright unusually competitively.

Re: Temtem

umbreon_sylveon

Just preordered it for switch. Im very excited. Haven’t played the beta. I am so happy with this era of indie games reimagining different genres and improving them. Paper Mario like games bug fables and the newly announced “The Outbound Ghost” are some good examples of this. We all know the GOAT is Stardew Valley. That game revitalized the crumbling harvest moon genre IMO. I am all for a Pokémon style RPG that will hopefully fix our own concerns us long time fans have over the last few games. TemTem feels like it may be the stardew valley of Pokémon.

One thing I’m very excited for is the balance of stats for the Temtem. The competitive scene is going to be wild. Many of the monsters seem to hover around the 450-485 range. So many pokemon are basically unusable for making competitive teams. It really seems that in TemTem you can create a team to work with your favorite mons.

Re: Paper Mario Tribute 'The Outbound Ghost' Gets Physical Release Date On Switch

umbreon_sylveon

@Not_Soos Correct. I loved Paper Mario and Thousand Year Door. I played Bug Fables and liked it, but it missed the Mario charm. I just never connected with the characters or the story. I am with you in hoping that Nintendo realizes that there is a huge market for Paper Mario games. Until then, PM clones is all we have. I'll probably wait for a review from Nintendo Life and then see what happens. The art style does seem more appealing than Bug Fables, so that's a plus.
