Re: Nintendo Switch System Update 13.0.0 Is Now Live

I can finally ditch the dongle! It make transitioning headphones from my phone way easier! Wish it had come earlier but I'll take it.

I'm using anker soundcore Life A2 noise canceling headphones and they are very low latency and work great with the update.

Re: Nintendo Plugs Skyward Sword HD With "Elements" Later Adopted In Zelda: Breath Of The Wild

thugpipe

Prior to the switch I had never finished a Zelda game, botw really grabbed me and I have played it through multiple times now. Its what opened me up to trying link's awakening which i finished too and has sparked an interest in the older games, so maybe it isn't such a bad strategy. I'm really waiting for Wind Waker HD to get released 🤞but I'll probably break down and grab skyward sword at some point.

Re: Review: Crysis Remastered - A Technical Miracle And One Of The Best Shooters On Switch

@AJB83 there are a bunch of games that have the same issue with the motion controls being tied to the y-axis inversion and to my knowledge has never been patched on any of them, Resident Evil revelations 1&2, morphite, call of juarez to name a few so im not holding my breath. It doesn't help that not a single reviewer ever notices or mentions this shortcoming when reviewing these games

Re: Review: Alien: Isolation - One Of The Greatest Horror Games Of All Time Comes To Switch

@sinsalaca I was able in the short term to "fix" the issue by installing the game on the internal storage of the switch lite. I discovered that the issue was linked to my micro SD card speed, I was using a 512gb Sandisk ultra(UHS-1 U1 card), later i replaced the card with a Samsung Evo Select 512gb (UHS-1 U3 card) and the game behaved the same as on the internal storage. If you choose to i stall on the internal storage just be aware that if ANY updates get installed while you have an sd card with too low a speed class installed the problem returns. I will also add that I tried some of my old smaller micro sd cards(sandisk ultra 128gb and 400gb) and they were fine.

The game is great, i love it, once i solved the issue after a great deal of frustration the game was a joy and I did finish it on the switch lite. Play in the dark and wear headphones!

I hope this helps

Re: Guide: Best Nintendo Switch Micro SD Cards

thugpipe

I should also add that I may have just gotten a bad card and I will have to try and benchmark it and see if it is hitting at least the minimum transfer speeds promised though it should be noted that I transferred the contents of the Sandisk card over to the Samsung via my computer (381gbs of data) and still saw the issue resolved.

Re: Guide: Best Nintendo Switch Micro SD Cards

thugpipe

In this article they suggest that any UHS-1 card will work for the switch but I have discovered an issue with this. I purchased a 512gb Sandisk Ultra card (UHS-1 with a Speed Class U1 or A10) around Black Friday, the card worked fine until I loaded Alien Isolation on the card. for some reason the motion controls were all messed up and it wouldn't track smoothly or consistently and I found that if I loaded the game onto the internal storage or one of my lower capacity cards with similar specs the problem went away. the problem came back when I installed Metro Redux which showed identical issues with the Motion controls. I bit the Bullet and purchased a new Samsung Evo Select 512gb UHS-1 card with a U3 speed class and the issue went away. I would just caution anyone buying a micro SD to pay attention to the Speed Class on any UHS-1 card the buy and I suggest getting a minimum of a U3 or V30 class card as they are guaranteed to have a minimum 30mb/s write speed as opposed to the 10mb/s speeds of the U1 or A10 cards most people lean towards.

Re: Poll: Has Your Family Bought A Second Switch To Play Animal Crossing: New Horizons 'Properly'?

thugpipe

I had a near launch switch and bought myself a switch lite shortly after they came out because i love the portability. Since Animal Crossing has come out my girlfriend finally wants to use my older switch constantly. So we are now truly a two switch household because someone is actually using each of them. I did end up buying a second copy of the game though so she and i could visit the other's island.

Re: Nintendo's Digital Sales Have Increased Almost 50 Percent Year-On-Year

thugpipe

@Ralizah I started buying physical games only for my switch but i have transitioned to more digital as the realization sunk in that my physical cartridges were more of a security blanket than something i really owned, between incomplete games with massive downloads to start and broken games needing patches we are far from future proofing a switch collection. The best thing you can do is regularly backup your microSD image and pray it doesn't get corrupted.

@The_Pixel_King I have not been able to independently confirm if others are having this problem on the Lite it may just be me. Also its a great game and so far I've been fine without using motion aiming but I do still wish it worked and if it becomes a problem i can switch to my OG Switch and its fine.

If you want to see exactly what I have been experiencing i made a short video documenting the issue.

Re: Feral Interactive Has No Plans To Adjust "Small Input Delay" In Alien: Isolation On Switch

thugpipe

Has anyone tried playing this game on a Nintendo switch lite? I have noticed that the motion controls don't work at all on the switch lite, It won't register movements unless you move the unit aggressively and so you can't make fine adjustments with it. I actually contacted Feral about the issue and they told me to calibrate the switch, which i had already tried and mentioned the triple buffering. The games motion controls work just fine on my OG switch and on the lite motion aiming works just fine on all my other games that use it like Wolfenstein and BotW. Has anyone else tried this or has similar experience on the switch lite?

Re: Review: Alien: Isolation - One Of The Greatest Horror Games Of All Time Comes To Switch

Has anyone tried playing this game on a switch lite? I have found that on my switch lite the gyro aiming is all messed up, you can move the system slowly and get it not to move at all and it is very unresponsive but it this all works fine on my original switch. I should add that motion aiming works just fine on the Lite for other games like Wolfenstein and breath of the wild. I'm just curious if anybody else is experiencing this.

Re: Wolfenstein Youngblood File Size Revealed, Trial Edition Listed On Switch eShop

thugpipe

I bought the physical box because they had the deluxe version on Amazon for $32 so I figured two extra dollars for the buddy pass was a decent deal. I definitely would have preferred having a cartridge for my collection.

And not to wade too deeply into this pond but most cartridges put out today contain broken or inferior versions of the game anyway which in my mind probably have limited use as archival versions and without the servers to provide the updates and optimizations most of these games will exist in incomplete states once those servers stop working. The only thing I can hope for is that they come out with platinum editions of games late in the life cycle of the system and reprint them hopefully with discount prices and a more complete code base on the cart.

Re: Pre-Orders Open For 8BitDo's "Most Advanced Controller" Ever

@B-Locks have you updated the firmware? My vibration issues were resolved several updates ago, they are now on v.1.31 on the sn30 pro and both of mine are working great.

I had a problem with the soft finish wearing off on my SF30 pro but I emailed 8bitdo and they mailed me new sticks for both it and my SN30 pro, it took a month to get them but they came.

Re: Charge Your Switch On The Go With These Officially-Licensed Portable Power Banks

thugpipe

@Heavyarms55 Inferior, that is a highly subjective conclusion. I am sure the battery you have is serving you well but considering that your battery charges the switch at 5v you only get max of 12w or 15w(2.4A or 3A) while the Anker charges at 24w (15V @ 1.6A) and trust me you notice the difference and so I spend less time with the battery attached. Once dead the battery itself charges at 20v so it will top off in far less time (half-ish) than any of my other equivalent power banks.

Re: Charge Your Switch On The Go With These Officially-Licensed Portable Power Banks

I have their Powercore 20000 PD battery pack and it works fantastic with my switch, It was $79 and it came with a PD wall charger. I contacted Anker yesterday and they confirmed it is the same battery with switch branding and Nintendo seal of approval. Also keep in mind ALL power delivery power banks com at a premium because they can provide that 15vdc the switch normally charges at, and these are in line with the going rate though I think the non Nintendo branded version is a little better deal.
